  1. The problem is that he shouldn't be saying any of this. What kind of coach makes these kinds of excuses? Even if it's true, it is unprofessional and it does have an effect on the team as well. Can you imagine Marc Trestman or Corey Chamblin making the excuse that they didn't have enough talent to work with? No chance, because they are smart and understand that the responsibility ultimately falls on them. Burke is passing the buck to the organization, the GM, and the players, but never has a damn thing to say about what he did wrong himself.
  2. Almost every position is represented on our practice roster, including a DB, WR, RB, and a couple LB's. There are only so many spots to go around. Also, I disagree that we have a problem at DT, in fact I'd say we're the strongest in the league at that spot, or close to it.
  3. Could easily make the argument that Foster has flatlined and Etienne is the one with upside... but I'd rather run headfirst into a wall than attempt to argue with you so we'll just leave it at that.
  4. In fairness to Joe Mack, he did trade a broken Steven Jyles for a draft pick that turned into Jade Etienne... a young Canadian receiver Jyles was coming off a career season and actually had value at the time. I remember quite a few people being upset we traded him, and then the Argos managed to parlay Jyles into Ray. He also had a devastating shoulder injury and didn't play for the first half of the next season. Anyone wanting him was taking a huge risk (as demonstrated by his poor play after returning) and Mack got a first round pick for him.

  7. Get ready for all the boosters to tell us why this is such an unrealistic goal...
  8. I can't tell if some of these comments are jokes. I think a quick lesson on the difference between trades in football and hockey would be helpful for Bomber fans. Again. Yeah you're right, in the two days between last night and the trade deadline, Brendan Taman would have decided that he doesn't want a top 2 DE and a second round pick for a guy he wasn't even using. That totally would have happened. Or maybe another team was holding out and would have come up with a better offer in that time. Too bad Walters blew it at the first sign of getting ANYTHING at all for Hall. Looks like Walters is more concerned with impressing the local media than anything else.
  9. Really hoping we turf Burke and Walters as soon as the season is over. Enough of this rookie bullshit, get us someone who knows what they're doing. This is getting embarrassing.
  10. Walters really showed his inexperience with this one. What's the rush? Still another two days to make a deal.
  11. He's miles beyond anything Hargreaves ever did, but yeah... still not good that he is easily a top 5 Canadian for us right now.
  12. Some doctor you are!
  13. Saskatchewan got the best of us on this one, no question. This time next year everyone is going to be complaining about what a turnstile Neufeld is.
  14. Let's just hire John Murphy and be done with it
  15. This is the most important point. This is what we need.
  16. Signed with New Orleans...
  17. The Bombers have a big problem but I'm 99% sure Selinger doesn't have the solution
  18. Dave likes Taaaylor
  19. Agreed, I've never bought into that logic. Imagine being in the player's shoes. Ottawa thinks enough of you to draft you without a contract and your current team doesn't think enough of you to protect you... which team is making you feel more wanted? Never mind the fact that Ottawa will have exclusive negotiation rights for two months to hash out a contract, and we saw how much that was worth in the Mike Reilly acquisition. The only situation where it would be really risky is when there is NFL interest in the player. If the player is likely to keep playing in the CFL, and Ottawa drafts him, they are almost certainly going to be able to get him under contract.
  20. I envision some kind of "option-year", where the player can try out for the NFL while a CFL team maintains his CFL rights.
  21. They thought they had the right guy at the top last time....how did that work out? So what do you suggest? Stop trying to hire the right guy?
  22. I like Dickenson but I just don't think he's got it in him to play QB anymore
  23. The Esks have the luxury of two QB masterminds currently looking for work - Mike Kelly and Gary Crowton - capable of designing packages and coming up with plays to make sure Reilly is more protected from now on. Oh the surfeit of riches of available talent! I know you're being sarcastic but the Bombers allowed the fewest sacks in the league when Mike Kelly was here.
  24. I don't think it is that simple. It's probably not easy to get players up here in the first place so it may very well involve a little bit of "Let's just get them up here then work on the details after they've arrived." Kinda like "If I've already taken my pants off, she will be less likely to say no."
  25. Blind hope?
