First "Top 20" rankings released today....... https://www.sportsnet.ca/cfl/article/iowa-offensive-lineman-tops-cfls-first-scouting-bureaus-top-prospects-list/ TORONTO — Alaric Jackson, an offensive lineman at the University of Iowa, has the No. 1 spot in the first edition of the CFL scouting bureau’s top-20 prospects for the 2021 draft. The six-foot-six, 315-pound Jackson is a native of Windsor, Ont. He’s entering his senior season at Iowa, which kicks off its ’20 campaign Oct. 24 at Purdue. Jackson started 10 of Iowa’s 13 games last season at left tackle. He redshirted in 2016 but has started for the Hawkeyes since 2017. The CFL released its top-20 list Thursday. Calgary’s Amen Ogbongbemiga, a senior linebacker at Oklahoma State University, was the second-ranked prospect. The six-foot-one, 235-pound Ogbongbemiga has registered a team-high 22 tackles (12 solo) and 1.5 sacks in three games for the No.10 Cowboys (3-0). Ogbongbemiga had 100 tackles last season and was named the Cowboys’ top defensive player. Vancouver’s Terrell Jana, a receiver at Virginia (1-1), is at No. 3. The six-foot-one, 200-pound Jana has nine catches for 84 yards and a TD this season after registering 74 receptions for 886 yards and three touchdowns in 2019. Josh Palmer of Brampton, Ont., a receiver at Tennessee, holds down the No. 4 spot. The six-foot-two, 210-pound senior has 10 receptions for 156 yards and two TDs for the Volunteers (2-0). At No. 5 is Ottawa’s Liam Dobson, a six-foot-three, 340-pound senior offensive lineman at Maine. Dobson’s ranking comes despite the Bears not starting their season until the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dobson enjoyed a stellar ’19 campaign, earning All-CAA first-team honours and being voted as Maine’s top offensive lineman. He was the school’s highest-graded offensive lineman for every game and averaged 12 knockdowns per contest. Dobson contributed immediately upon arriving at Maine in 2017, appearing in six contests (one start) as a freshman. He became a full-time starter in 2018. The remainder of the top-10 includes, in order, includes: New Mexico State offensive lineman Sage Doxtater (Welland, Ont.); North Carolina State defensive lineman Daniel Joseph (Toronto); North Carolina defensive back Patrice Rene (Ottawa); Maine linebacker Deshawn Stevens (Toronto); and West Virginia defensive back Alonzo Addae (Pickering, Ont.). The first 10 selections were all from NCAA programs, not a surprise given U Sports cancelled its 2020 season due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The top Canadian collegian was Montreal offensive lineman Pier-Olivier Lestage, of Saint-Eustache, Que., at No. 11. The other U Sports selections included Calgary Dinos offensive lineman Logan Bandy of Calgary (No. 12), Saskatchewan defensive back Nelson Lokombo of Abbotsford, B.C. (No. 14), British Columbia linebacker Ben Hladik of Vernon, B.C., (No. 16), Calgary linebacker Grant McDonald of Tsawwassen, B.C. (No. 19) and U.B.C. linebacker Nick Cross of Regina (No. 20). Defensive back Deane Leonard, who helped Calgary win the Vanier Cup last year before transferring to Ole Miss for 2020, was ranked. No. 13.

Turris has attitude problems...no thanks to that guy. Buff is done.

I'm a really big fan of PS as 2C. As you've all suggested, cost is a big factor, but if they can make it work...he's sure a guy I'd love to have.

Hall's a great player. Not always the best attitude, but he definitely wants to win and is extremely talented. I read something yesterday that said Paul Stastny could end up back in Winnipeg...that is something I would REALLY love to see.

at just over 1-mil AAV, it's a good deal for both sides. He'll contribute and redeem himself as a legit NHLer...

I think it's two games, with both repeated later in the day....

this would be exactly it, I think. This Swedish kid has the size and potential, but he was playing in the Swedish junior league, and not with the Men's club, which tells me that he's still a ways off the NHL. He'll definitely need some seasoning...

I'm not a huge rock guy by any means, and VH heyday was a bit before my time, but man, they had some songs. "Jump" will always equate to the Winnipeg Jets in my mind, and Panama....that scene in Superbad where Hader and Rogen (as the cops) are drunk and smashing up the cop car.....just one and the same, to me. A legendary group, no question.

2020, man......

I still think there's a chance Laine gets dealt, but it sure feels like Chevy is not doing this unless he's getting the monstrous return that we all agree he SHOULD be getting for Laine. Chevy is refusing to take less than Laine's worth, thank goodness.
-
I think they'll play a full season, or close to it.... but it'll carry well into next summer.

Jan 1 as a target date, means we're likely going to be later than that, which sucks. I'm sure they're hoping that the longer they push it back, the better odds of being able to have fans in the stands, but we're still a LONG way from that (at least in the sane part of North America) so just figure out a "no fans" or "extremely limited fans" approach way of doing things...

trying to filter through this entire gong show of a post...... but TSN radio has shown, as with CFL, they don't need the broadcast rights to create good radio. They'll do the same thing as football and have a Pre-game, Intermission, and Post-game broadcast and do just fine. They're absolutely not flipping formats.
-
that option won't be available this year, I'd imagine. I'm betting on a new crew for radio. As others have mentioned, I'm also not a fan of Edmonds. Great guy, I have no doubt, just not a fan of his PBP. The guttoral yelling is not a style I enjoy....

I'm such a CJOB nerd, I'm ecstatic for Kelly and the rest of the team over there. They'll never "degrade" the Bombers. Everything will fit, otherwise they wouldn't have made this move. Curious to see if they bring over the current radio PBP team (I'm not overly a fan of them) or use their own people. Kelly is a great hockey PBP but not sure he wants to be away from home as much as it would require. Likely have someone younger do it, I'd bet. Lots of options at any rate.

Would love Provorov but zero chance the Flyers give him up. He's a future captain and Norris trophy winner...

Probably my favourite GnR song. No whistle solo?? Nice to what someone cover it but the GnR version is far superior.

From Bruce Garrioch at Ottawa Sun: AROUND THE BOARDS An interesting team to watch on the Patrik Laine front may be the Philadelphia Flyers and the talk is they’re making an aggressive push. They have the ability to make the deal if they can find the right fit with the Jets. A league executive speculated Sunday the Flyers would probably want to see if there’s a fit in Winnipeg for defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere. He has three years left with a cap hit of $4.5 million per season, but the Jets could also look to get a second-line centre in return. The Jackets and Montreal Canadiens are both believed to have made pitches for Laine, 22, who has 138 goals and 247 points in 305 games. You have to think find a fit with the Habs the Jets would want Phillip Danault in return. The Sabres, Wings, Rangers, Wild and Panthers all have interest … The Jets are trying to get defenceman Dylan DeMelo signed, but there still a sizeable gap to bridge if that’s going to happen. DeMelo was dealt to Winnipeg by the Senators at the February deadllne and has a chance to cash in.

I had thought the same thing about MLB when they had massive outbreaks in the first week. Everyone was saying they won't last. This will get completely shut down. But they found a way.... And I'm sure NFL will too. There's just way too much money at stake.

So, for anyone who may have missed it, the Bombers have been doing a podcast. It's mostly Darren Cameron hosting with a bit of contribution from our man Tait, and then they have a guest each time. It WAS only available to subscribers but they've now put them up on Spotify and iTunes for free. No spoilers, but man... Do yourself a favour and give them a listen. The Doug Brown one is outstanding. So good.
