  1. https://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/cfl-owners-not-unanimous-playing-shortened-2020-season/ In an interview Thursday with an Edmonton radio station, CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie explained that his latest focus will be determining a “go-no go date” on a 2020 CFL season. Multiple sources have told Sportsnet, however, that there are some franchises in the league unsure at the moment on whether or not to proceed with playing games at all this year. Those sources say there are at least two privately-run teams that have expressed reservations about going forward with a reduced schedule this fall under the present circumstances. Ambrosie said last week the league was exploring plans of potentially beginning a modified run of games beginning in September. The belief is that the CFL’s community-run franchises – in Saskatchewan, Edmonton and Winnipeg – are on-board with getting some kind of football in to help with their bottom line. Those three organizations do not have the benefit of a single owner who can write cheques to cover financial losses. On the other hand, Montreal, B.C., Calgary, Ottawa, Hamilton and Toronto are privately-run franchises. Ambrosie’s latest comments came on 630 CHED, where he told host Morley Scott that he has been asked by presidents and owners of the CFL franchises to “really focus” on when the league’s drop-dead date on this season would be. “I have been challenged to come back to the governors with a recommendation on our ‘go-no go’ date,” Ambrosie told Scott on Thursday. As Sportsnet first reported last week, the CFL created a return to play committee – which includes doctors, immunologists and other specialists – and they have presented a model featuring two hub cities for the league’s nine teams to be based out of. The system unveiled by the committee was thorough from a health and wellness standpoint, complete with a comprehensive series of testing protocols and detail on cleaning and sanitation. While that may be the best way to proceed medically, team and league sources do not believe this format is economically viable. To help on the financial side, the league continues to lobby the federal government for up to $150 million in funding. Things had been relatively quiet between the CFL and Ottawa since May 11, but over the last two days there was contact with two departments that had been previously untapped. There was communication on the league’s behalf with Aneil Jaswal, a senior policy advisor to the Minister of Finance, both Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, there was also communication on the CFL’s behalf with Kyle Nicholson, a senior policy advisor for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and with Olga Radchenko, a policy advisor for IRCC. There have been five Members of Parliament known to have had contact with the CFL, and in most cases specifically with Ambrosie. There has also been communication on the league’s behalf with at least two members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet: on May 11 with Minister of Justice David Lametti, and on April 6 with Catherine McKenna, the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. 2. thank you for finding this...I'd seen the graph on Twitter earlier in the day, but couldn't find it when I wanted to post it in this thread.
  3. Jason Kenney with the second lowest approval rating right now.........that's the guy you want to hitch your wagon to, to prove your intelligence? BTW, Pallister in dead last among provinces with "significant populations".....

Crockett (5-11, 190, Georgia Southern, December 11, 1993 in Rock Hill, SC) played his collegiate football at Georgia Southern, appearing in 47 games with 18 starts. He tallied 32 receptions for 535 yards and three touchdowns. Crockett signed as an undrafted free agent with Green Bay in May of 2017, however was released following training camp. He has also spent time with Jacksonville, Houston, Arizona and Washington. Grant (5-11, 200, Ohio State, November 30, 1992 in Akron, OH) most recently spent time with the DC Defenders of the XFL, after playing with Atlanta in the AAF in 2019. Grant was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round, 121st overall, in the 2015 NFL Draft, playing in eight games with the Steelers as a rookie. Grant also participated in training camps and/or spent time on the practice rosters of Buffalo (2016), New York Giants (2016), Jacksonville (2017) and Chicago (2018). He played four seasons at Ohio State, starting his final two and recording nine interceptions during his time there, including five his senior year
  5. he'd been SO GOOD until now, too.... following the orders of doctors and scientists. And then he goes and shows his true colours. Man was I pissed off when I read that...
  6. Only about 8 (according to Tait) players that are in the city full time. You won't see anyone coming in from out of province, and certainly not from out of country...
  7. ahhhhhh you're one of THOSE types....... I get you. My cousin is part of a local sketch comedy troupe and they're AWESOME but I just do not understand their love of KITH. It's just too weird for me...
  8. also, as a side note, Shuster's daughter, Rosie, would go on to be a founding writer of SNL (and one-time wife of Lorne Michaels), so she had the chops as well...
  9. I don't advocate for the ban hammer often, but c'mon.......this guy just made the list.
  10. Possibly the funniest comedy team we ever produced. Absolutely LOVED those guys. My grandfather and I bonded over our love of those guys. I mean, they were regulars on Sullivan, for goodness sake. Those guys were OUTSTANDING......oh, and Dave Broadfoot, too.
  11. I would absolutely advocate for bringing the world to a halt (as we've done) every time there's a disease that spreads like this one.... all preventable deaths MUST be prevented.
  12. I miss that era of both Air Farce and 22 Mins.... man that was good stuff.
  13. I think (tho I'm not 100% versed in this) that the difference is, Italy and Spain took it very seriously, but caught it too late and by that point, it was uncontainable. Brazil and the States just said "this is nothing...let 'er buck!" I know with Italy, for example, they didn't realize it was in the country until someone had died from it, and by that point, it's just way too late. They had government enforced lockdowns with police and army patroling the streets 24/7 to keep people in their homes. Bodies of all ages piling up in the morgues and makeshift morgues....
  14. You look at Brazil and you look at the States, and then STILL think our government OVER reacted?
  15. I was just thinking this morning that it was really nice the crazy people hadn't been posting in here for awhile...... spoke too soon.
  16. ...at least there will BE generations to pay for it....... whatever it takes to prevent unnecessary deaths.
  17. Am I the only one who's literally never heard of this guy before? I didn't even know we had a CFL Head Of Football Operations...
  18. Fwiw, AB numbers coming down. Averaging around 25/day the past week. Something like 45 in hospital and 5 in ICU. It's really only Quebec and Ontario ******* up this country right now. I remain hopeful that I can come back to MB to visit fam in Sept...
  19. Today should have been our first game of the year. First pre season game, at home, vs Edm.... Siiiiiiiigh.
  20. McGuire might be the best pure passer we've had in ages. The question is whether he can develop the thinking part of the game. Processing things quickly and making quick decisions...
