  1. Well I mean, back then there weren't nearly as many radio stations, but YES, radio was absolutely where people heard new music 40 or 50 years ago.
  2. this is more than fair and accurate.... there's also a whole thing about how few record labels there are now and how much power and influence they have over pop culture. Major labels like Universal dictate so much....
  3. Twitter all "Ooooo....ahhhhhh" about this Cornelius extension as if guaranteed contracts exist. It literally means nothing, and if someone better comes along, they'll toss Corny aside for the next thing.
  4. More like showbiz extravaganza trying to be like royalty.... #TheRoyalsDidItFirst
  5. So, you're not wrong...but it's a really long, convoluted answer that has to do with (shock!) money. I don't feel like typing up the thesis paper today, but it's all about advertiser dollars and making sure every song sounds exactly like every other song being played. Can't take a chance of something sounding different might have a person change the station to something else. Not worth the risk. Too much $$ at stake.
  6. I'm pretty sure there's a gentlemen's agreement (huzzah!) among the league GMs to not do that sort of thing. Nobody wants it done to them, so they don't do it to others. I don't think we'd be the ones to open the door to that sort of thing.
  7. I was very intentional about not saying which group I fall into
  8. this thread has really exposed the people who don't watch football very closely, or don't understand football very well.....
  9. Sorry can't post the image from my phone but here's the tweet...
  10. hey now, Matt Cauz says the TiCats are winning this weekend....
  11. officially an achilles for Taylor.....so brutal. At his age, not sure you come back from it.
  12. Emmy's were fun last night. They needed to get rid of the DJ and the "Announcer", but for the most part if was really fun. I LOL-ed a few times.... Arnett dragging Kimmel's "passed out" body on to the stage was a pretty solid bit. Great to see Lasso continue their winning ways (a bit surprising...thought Barry was going to have a night) and a bit surprised that Saul didn't do more, but I think next year will be their big year, getting rewarded for this most recent season. I've never seen Squid Game, Hacks or White Lotus, so those wins were all lost on me. Again, for the most part, the Emmy's were fun and got things mostly right in terms of wins. Kenan is a great host.
  13. Right in front of our seats, I saw Nick walking him off the field and you could tell how upset they both were....
  14. I mean.......c'mon........
  15. Back to PCs and Reformers..... let those knuckle draggers have their own cave to hide in.
  16. Listen.... if you want to come around here once every few months and start throwing around opinions like you actually know what you're talking about, that's your business. But when people who actually know what they're talking about explain to you exactly why you're wrong, don't go crying about it. Your opinion is wrong, and you should feel bad.
  17. the Oilers usually put some of these games on their YouTube channel. None of it will be on TSN, but there's a good chance at least some of it will be online...
  18. well this is a crock of ****. Bailey has had a fire lit in him since the first game he ever played (Banjo Bowl 2019) and likely goes back way farther than that. He's also been very consistent for a long time...he just doesn't get targeted as much as others.
  19. for us it was O Canada and God Save The Queen every morning in elementary school. I think in HS it was O Canada. In the AB town I'm currently in, the middle school does O Canada every morning at 9am. So it's still a thing, to a degree.
  20. No.........it was much more than a couple!
