  1. They had other options to tinker with the ratio. Sears is the kind of player that you make room for. Sherman was quite frankly not good enough to be playing that position. Yeah he's a good kid who made some plays, but he was a weakness as a starter.
  2. A much better GM? Not so sure. How long has he been in the league? How many championships? How many winning seasons? Not trying to be a smart ass, I'm actually curious...I know he only has one grey cup though
  3. when healthy I'd be willing to make an argument that he was. It was a travesty that they held him out of the lineup last year because they didn't want to make a change. Guy is a game changer.
  4. I watched the first two games of the series and they were both good games, close ones where I felt it could have gone either way. Kelowna had better finish than Brandon though and that was the difference. Rockets will likely close it out sooner rather than later but I feel that the series was closer than the results indicate. Two good teams though, thinking that the high end guys on Kelowna are just at a higher level than Brandon.
  5. Hopefully she didn't drop as many F-bombs at church the next day. What a loser. She's allowing the idea of the wine to stand as a potential excuse while then giving excuses as to why it probably wasnt. Either you were drunk or not. But this isnt like some mind control took over her mouth. Sleep deprivation? My goodness. What a clown. But it really illustrates the lefts ideals though right? No one is responsible for their actions, there's always something else to blame.
  6. Taman doesn't build depth, he goes for a good top end and pays for it but neglects the depth in the process. He also likes to plan year to year and doesn't pay too much attention long term. I like Taman and he's a much better GM than a lot of people around these parts give him credit for, but he operates in a pretty predictable way.
  7. Only possible thing could be his injury history... or maybe he was upset with the bullshit when he was not put back in the line up when healthy. Guy is a hell of a playmaker. Just been hurt too often. When he's healthy though he is a great defender.
  8. More so I find it laughable how Eakins has turned into the whipping boy for all of Edmonton's problems. Nevermind firing Krueger for no real reason in the first place, or putting Eakins in charge of the team when he could have been hired to be an assistant coach under Krueger, having never held any coaching position in the NHL before, or the stunning amount of misses on draft picks outside of the top 3 spots, or ignoring D entirely at draft time, or misjudging the talent level of all D pursued in free agency (and whatever Justin Schultz counts as). Message received. This was a team full of potential. They could have finished 13th in the conference!!! Maybe even 12th!!! Eakins torpedoed Edmonton's hopes of finishing 12th!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!! It was a young team making progress and Eakins halted that progress and put things in reverse. This isn't trying to pin everything on Eakins, just stating that he was a terrible choice as coach. Him and mact getting the boot has been thebest thing to happen to that franchise in years. Forget McDavid, the real highlight of the season is Chiarelli at GM and likely a legit top coach coming in. Regression is over, progress will resume.
  9. Willy was really ******* good before he smacked his hand on a helmet, after that his accuracy left him. Is it really such a stretch to say that playing through all the injuries he piled up affected him more than anything? The insistence that they stick with Grigsby for so long did him no favours at all either.
  10. Elizabeth May has always been a moron. Can't believe people actually vote for her and her crazy ideas.
  11. I hope someone does buy his bullshit again and gives him a job so that all the ******* who don't understand how bad he was can finally see the truth of how bad he was. Dallas Eakins was worse than both Mike Kelly and Tim Burke were as coaches and that should say something.
  12. You sure about that? Whenever I watch a game from the Spengler Cup I can't believe that advertisers even want to pay for jerseys like that^. They are so busy that you can barely pick out a single sponsor when you see them. I could see paying for the entire front or a patch on the back or something, but with 20 other logos on the shirt, it's useless. I think the CFL has it right in the case of on uniform sponsors. There's one or two patches on the shoulders, that's plenty. Gets the club some money but isn't too busy.
  13. I think any reasonable person believes the answer lies somewhere in between your two statements. It's not so black and white. The Conservative battle cry "They must be held responsible!!!" is just as absurd as the Trudeau mantra "We have to understand WHY those terrorists murdered so many people" And I agree with that. You do need to ultimately address the underlying causes, but you also need to hold people responsible for their actions.
  14. I think what this case shows is the divide between how two types of people view criminals. Some people want to place the blame on the factors that lead a person to do things while others think that the person is ultimately responsible for their actions and should be held accountable. It's seen in other areas too, specifically how much the left really hates the Conservatives tough on crime stance. As for people like Ezra Levant, you have to keep in mind that media is all about entertainment and these guys definitely do play characters. No one wants to pay attention to the normal always sensible people, the types that grab attention are the bold and outrageous people making strong statements that people can either say "******* right! Tell it like it is!" or they can say "what a total ******* moron, I can't believe this idiot believes this crap"
  15. Strong rumours that were all bullshit. Character is what got Taylor Hall taken #1 over Tyler Seguin in their draft years. Hall is all heart and character. The eastern media likes to talk a lot about the Oilers without having a hot clue what's actually happening there. The only cancer in the Edmonton room was named Dallas Eakins. They took Kevin Lowe's lanyard away? Kevin Lowe is now the vice president in charge of telling stories about the glory days.
  16. bullshit, all the other coaches got more out of lesser rosters. There was steady progress made in every area until Eakins showed up, then it was regression across the board. Pat Quinn is dead and I'd still prefer him coaching over Dallas Eakins.

  18. single people already have the greatest tax break in the world, no money pit kids.
  19. It's personal preference. I get the thinking behind income splitting, I just disagree. I think tax rates should be based on individuals, not households. For GST, I think the benefit of lowering it for individuals is pretty insignificant in comparison to the cost of lost revenue for the government. but why? The whole idea behind marriage in this day and age is to combine things, why not income? Why should a house hold with two people making $60k pay less taxes than a household with one person making $120k and the other making nothing? Until my paycheque shows more than just my name on it, it's individual income. Why should somebody making $120k, with a wife also making $120k, have to pay more taxes than another guy making $120k, but whose wife chose to stay home with the kids? It's an unnecessary tax break for people the Conservatives see as being part of their base. until you go to get a divorce and your wife gets half of it. That's the whole point of a marriage, it's two separate entities combining to be one entity. Income splitting just makes sense. two people making 120k should be paying more than one person making 120k and the other staying home because 240k is more than 120k. Come on Prentice, the math isn't that hard. There are limits on how much can be split so it's not a super rich tax break, the people who benefit the most are the middle class with one person working and the other not. It's a narrow focus but it's not a bad thing at all. The left only likes to ***** about it cause it is a tax cut and it is a revenue loss and they hate giving back to the people. They believe the people don't know how to take care of themselves and the government needs to do it for them.
  20. The best part of this tournament for Canada so far is that it's showing the rest of the country what Oiler fans already knew, that Taylor Hall is a ******* good player.
  21. But like it or not it's a choice some people make. The other side of the coin is the dirty granola eating tree hugger idea that the government should raise all the kids out there so that they can be indoctrinated into the socialist manifesto from an early age.

The whole idea behind marriage in this day and age is to combine things, why not income? Why should a house hold with two people making $60k pay less taxes than a household with one person making $120k and the other making nothing? as for income tax vs sales taxes, sales taxes are more regressive and hurt low income earners more than income tax. I'd rather see more progressive income tax than sales taxes or user fees. The real benefit of a sales tax for a revenue generating tax is that there's less loop holes to exploit so they're more likely to be collected. I very much disagree with the idea that the solution to a budget deficit is to just raise revenue though. I think getting spending under control is a better solution than simply raising taxes to balance the budget.
  23. I agree that the senate does serve a purpose…but not the way it's being done now. BUT The Cons didn't do the best they could in Senate reform because despite appointing Senators that the Provinces have elected, they still have "appointed" Senators whenever they see fit. They were not alone in that practice, and that practice must stop…for true Senate reform. You can't just leave senate seats empty, they need to be filled and if the provinces can't be bothered to get off their asses and put senators on the ballot then what's to be done?
