  1. It's as outdated and derogatory as "Indian" in Canada. Only surprise is that this hasn't been an issue in the last 20-30 years. Speaks to how much of an afterthought the Inuit people are more than anything.
  2. I hope they didn't spend a lot of money or time on this. Put the resources toward the actual product.
  3. If you want worse football, move the season up. Weather is already miserable for many training camps, don't need to move earlier into May.
  4. I'm sure certain people could put hard numbers forward if they wish, but I'd wager a majority of the seats are discounted through either the "deal" offered season ticket holders, corporate sales and now outright discounts.
  5. I don't have a lot of sympathy for the people flooding Kijiji who do not want to attend the Grey Cup without the Bombers in it. There was a 99.9% chance in March that we'd be where we are today. I have a lot of sympathy for the people who were sold a bill of goods by the Blue Bombers, committing to 3 seasons while getting to watch Grey Cup tickets sold for the same or less all around them without that commitment. You just can't do that to people, the people who are really the builders of this organization. It is lucky for the Football Club that these people would not do anything that could possibly hurt the Football Club financially, because if they were dealing with a private business most would likely vote with their wallets, maybe even look into a class action to get out of the ridiculous one-sided commitment foisted on them in supposed good faith. The fact that screwing over long-time customers is worth less than a couple thousand empty seats speaks volumes.
  6. I'd take him either way. He's a good enough receiver to be one of the best Canadians in the league at that position if he can't take the abuse at RB.
  7. As long as there is a stadium to pay for, there will be a pro football team playing in it. If the stadium was paid for it would be a different ball game.
  8. Dat would be the record completion percentage in 2005, Bob! That and his stupid ******* facial hair choices and his giant dumbo ears... he just looks like someone you'd want to punch right in the face. I don't care if he looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame. If he can get our offence firing on all cylinders. He's my guy! If we reject an OC with a winning track record purely because of his dumbo ears then we deserve to be 25 years without a Cup. Maas hardly has a track record. He'd be as big of a gamble as anyone if you're strictly looking at that. One season. I said Barrett in another thread a couple of weeks ago and was shot down, but now that the media is talking about him it seems like an option. Lawless just named every offensive coach he knows in that report. Don't think it means there's fire there, not even smoke.
  9. These lists are meaningless until February 15.
  10. There are hundreds if not thousands of disenfranchised first and second generation Canadian youth who pose a much bigger threat to our "security" in the near term in terms of being radicalized than refugees arriving in the coming months, along with some disenfranchised "Canadian" youth. These are the people perpetrating the ISIS attacks in the West. To me, the argument against taking refugees should have more to do with the fact that they are coming here to a place with very little economic opportunity for them, which often leads to the disconnect with the rest of society. There aren't a lot of radicalized individuals who were well educated people who left good jobs in the west to join the Jihad. They are almost always unemployed with justice system involvement. This thought is always trumped by the immediate safety concerns for the refugees. If proper resources and opportunities aren't in place, we're just setting the trap for 20 years down the line.
  11. Agreed. Another Ricky Ray stinker. Good statline, couldn't score enough points. The story of his career beyond 2003.
  12. The rule is beyond stupid regardless of the reasoning. Just make kicking the ball when it's dead a penalty for the safety of everyone.
  13. Here's something to think about. Our last game, Stala boots the ball in the stands, no flag. Grant just booted that ball into the stands, no flag. Shell boots the ball into the air, not even the stands after an INT, flag. WTF is that?
  14. Looks like Austin can't draw up a gameplan to make a crappy QB look competent either, even against a bottom-feeding D like the Argos. Keep in mind that the Argos made Marve look like he might belong in the CFL.
  15. Someone's gonna get to the East Final without one. IMO the best QB in the division is watching the game from Toronto's sideline.
  16. Speculation for sure, but you wonder if there were some chemicals fueling the depression/rage/behaviour too when you see pictures of the guy. You don't get biceps like that by doing curls. Crappy situation for all involved.
  17. But youre assuming that because they're on a winning team that they're in a good situation. What if Brady is tired of being in Milanovich's shadow. What if Condell is getting stressed out with Austin yelling at him every time something goes wrong with the offense. What if they're not? What if they are?
  18. He basically said that Brohm was put in tough spots coming in mid game for Willy when he went out and that when he finally got a chance with a week of practice he didn't run with the opportunity, leading to the move for Nichols. Not really a defense of Brohm, more a factual statement of what happened.
  19. Does any scheme look good when you have 3-4-5 players at a time on either side of the ball flat out losing against the guy across the line? Most people here seem to have more of a hockey brain. Babcock is the best coach in the world, Canadian Olympic coach. He sure makes those Maple Leafs look good with his Cup and Gold Medal winning tactics eh? When you have major roster deficiencies, coaching can only go so far to bridge that gap.
  20. Fully understand it. If you play crappy Canadians at OL, you don't control the line. You suck, your QB's get killed. We've been proving that for several years now. If you're going to play crappy Canadians, you're better off playing them somewhere else. When a team like Edmonton trades a high pick for a bum like Greaves, you know there's a shortage of NI OL.
  21. Bombers have the 9th and 10th pick. A little shocking that Walters doesn't know that. Riders 2nd rounder is 9, acquired for Greaves, Bombers finished 8th in the league, their 2nd rounder is next, 10th overall.
  22. There are 4 DI's now. Most teams are running 7-8 man DL rotations. The supply of NI OL who can manage playing in this league right now is extremely low. If you're trying to build the "ideal" line of 4-5 NI's you better have 3 QBs who can play. That's where the league is today.
  23. You were right the first time -- it's not "ideally how you do it"....Ideally you use Americans on the line to protect your best asset, and then use your Canadians elsewhere. Even if you had national starters at all those positions, which we don't, you wouldn't be able to pay them all starter money, you end up settling for second rate internationals which is how you end up starting the Greg Peaches of the league, it's economics, you spend your big money on O and D national line men. Your internationals are your skill players and they come cheaper then nationals. Starting NI OL are going for $200,000 on the open market...don't see any relevance in the point you're trying to make. Spend that on a OL, or spend it on a NI DB who can play, what's the difference? Most of the NI skill guys are going for less because everyone is stuck in the rut of trying to play 3-4-5 NI OL all the time. Because you're going to spend it on your lines anyways, national or not, starting linemen command more money than starting DB's or LB's or receivers or running backs. You can't compare a national DB making $200K (which doesn't exist btw) to a starting left tackle. American OL on their first or second contract make more than players at other positions? News to me. The most overpaid players in the league are NI OL and receivers. If you made a list of the top 5 overpaid CFL players, pretty much all of them would fit. Picard, Getzlaf, Fantuz, Durie, Labatte....
  24. So they should be conducting the investigation with a Free Press, Sun, Global, CBC, CTV reporter embedded to update the public at every turn? I don't quite get the entitlement. There's a process being followed as there is with any investigation. Way too early to call anyone out.
