Mostly he just needs to take what he wants to call and do the opposite some of the time. That and live and die with his best players. A well-designed run play for Harris on 1st down is never a wrong call. Harris didn't have a meaningful touch after the game was 17-10. That's just crazy.

For whatever reason they matchup really well against Hamilton and have for awhile. Hamilton is the only team Bridge has beat. I'm not sure they've turned any corners in the big picture.

Bombers crushed Montreal on the road with a raw rookie QB and the same Montreal team went into Regina the next week and beat the Riders. It's hard to make that direct comparison in any meaningful way. The Bombers need to focus on their own problems and solve them.

Hamilton runs about 2 formations (single back or empty) and 2 route combinations out of each formation. It's not going to work forever.

I don't get why Hamilton played so desperate while in control of the game. They are playing like they are down 20.

2 big games (one of them a big half), 1 average game, 2 terrible games offensively. One big game and one terrible game per QB. Not good for consistently winning games. Can't go quarters at a time without gaining a first down or scoring points. This is a case where stats are for losers.

Jones is so brilliant he's made his best player a complete non-factor by playing him at field corner.

Every other quarter. The inconsistency is a huge problem. He finally solved the redzone issue by trusting Harris, but not much else has changed. He does less with more, this an expensive offense and they should be dominant.

Based on the contract players sign they have no hope of suing for wrongful dismissal. The only thing that’s kind of sketchy is the league refusing to register a contract if he signed elsewhere, could be viewed as collusion, but I believe they covered that in the last CBA negotiation.

Yep, but he has those plays ready and scripted no matter what, he's not adjusting. He'd be adjusting if he stuck with what worked. He's going to run the plays he's scripted no matter what. Like a double reverse off a wildcat formation to Simonise when he's up 17-0 on 1st and 10. Why run that there? That's a play you run when you're down 17-0. Huge risk of a turnover.

His problem is the opposite. Lapo is a gameplanner. If his plan succeeds he looks like a genius, but he really struggles to move off the plan he's made and the plays he's installed that week. The best offense he coached was in Saskatchewan when Grandpa Miller could give him a kick in the ass and oversee his playcalling. Without that he's been extremely inconsistent right back to the minute he walked into Canada in 2002. Lapo is a C+ coordinator who can be an A+ and an F in the same game.

When they took the ball away right after the O turned it over on Saturday?

Loffler has plenty of opportunity to make plays. He’s whiffing.

Especially when your offense turns the ball over 4 times in a half. How many times did the D get the ball back in that game? How many times did they set the offense up with great field position off a takeaway? The offense reasonably should have produced several more TDs and this game should not have been close. The defense did their job.

I’d rather see Simonise and Petermann. Use the import spot on D right now, go all import D.

There has to be some concern about some key players and their performance thus far, 5 games in. Adams has dropped a ton and put our defense back on the field as a result, cost us many points. Bowman is a non-factor. Loffler is averaging less than 2 tackles per game. That’s absurd for a safety and especially one that plays his style, he’s not a cover safety. More than that he hasn’t made an impact play, a positive one, yet this season. He has missed a slew of tackles that kept our D on the field. Nichols has been unproductive and at times brutal in both 2nd halves he’s played. Worried about hits? Can’t get 100% on his throws due to the knee? Whatever it is they better figure it out.

Nichols literally couldn’t make a throw in the 2nd half. Play calling to account for that would be basically not relying on his arm at all. That’s pretty hard to do in Canadian football. That was Max Hall level QBing.

Here’s an idea, let Lapo draw up the game plan and call plays in the first half and turn over play calling to Buck or the RB coach in the 2nd half. Help Lapo get out of his own way.

People really want a field goal on 3rd and a foot? There’s no coach in Canada who kicks there. The 3rd and goal from the 2 is a bit of a gamble, but it was a horrible play call running a search play right into a stack. Probably should be running more option with Streveler and Harris/Demski and giving him pass options too. Lapo made Streveler one-dimensional tonight and totally took away the reason he’s been successful.

Crazy thing is how both games the offense/Nichols just tanked in the second half. He made a number of excellent throws in the first half and couldn’t hit anything in the second, even when Bowman had 10 yard radius he way under threw him. Wonder if he’s aggravating his knee as he tires and can’t get much into throws later on.
