Game Day Thread - Bombers @ Argos
Ya I agree, D was great. Can't believe how little Trestman uses the run though, especially when he's got two import backs dressed and a kinda thin receiving corps. Bombers never really had a lead so crazy for the amount of time left that they had to abandon the run completely, although the Bombers played it well the 4 times they ran before garbage time.

Harris running at a 1750 yard pace through 6 games.

3 home games vs the East coming up, just in time.

If he has a BEd he might be able to get one at a high school in Winnipeg.

See where everyone is after 18 games, it's a long season and there haven't been that many divisional games yet.

Nah, those were all physical mistakes, guys dropping balls. That happens, the way it happened really favoured the Argos because the ball bounced to guys with clear path to the endzone.

BC @ Ottawa
The rule always existed they are just enforcing it now. There's nothing exciting about defenders being allowed to play D without having to move their feet and just grabbing onto guys. One thing they could enforce more is OPI. Sick of watching guys push off the get leverage to make a catch. Call it both ways.

Ankle sprain for sure. Had about 200 of those myself.

Harris needs to read the safety. Safety was cheating to that route before the snap. Brutal throw. Thought Willis was gonna get cut in game after that penalty.

Mostly he just needs to take what he wants to call and do the opposite some of the time. That and live and die with his best players. A well-designed run play for Harris on 1st down is never a wrong call. Harris didn't have a meaningful touch after the game was 17-10. That's just crazy.

Sask v Hamilton
For whatever reason they matchup really well against Hamilton and have for awhile. Hamilton is the only team Bridge has beat. I'm not sure they've turned any corners in the big picture.

Sask v Hamilton
Bombers crushed Montreal on the road with a raw rookie QB and the same Montreal team went into Regina the next week and beat the Riders. It's hard to make that direct comparison in any meaningful way. The Bombers need to focus on their own problems and solve them.

Sask v Hamilton
Hamilton runs about 2 formations (single back or empty) and 2 route combinations out of each formation. It's not going to work forever.

Sask v Hamilton
I don't get why Hamilton played so desperate while in control of the game. They are playing like they are down 20.

2 big games (one of them a big half), 1 average game, 2 terrible games offensively. One big game and one terrible game per QB. Not good for consistently winning games. Can't go quarters at a time without gaining a first down or scoring points. This is a case where stats are for losers.

Jones is so brilliant he's made his best player a complete non-factor by playing him at field corner.

The officials need to call the hits on hook sliding QB's. Insane.

Every other quarter. The inconsistency is a huge problem. He finally solved the redzone issue by trusting Harris, but not much else has changed. He does less with more, this an expensive offense and they should be dominant.

Sask v Hamilton
Both these teams run the same hitch screen/draw action on about 80% of their passing downs. Boring as hell and going nowhere. TSN is having a hell of a time getting the LOS and first down lines to work tonight. They are way off.

Battle of Underperformers: Blue vs Double Blue in Doubleheader
Whole practice roster is receivers and DBs nearly. Sounds like Fenner will be out again and that's a huge loss.

Around the League: 2018 Season
Based on the contract players sign they have no hope of suing for wrongful dismissal. The only thing that’s kind of sketchy is the league refusing to register a contract if he signed elsewhere, could be viewed as collusion, but I believe they covered that in the last CBA negotiation.

When does the bowman experiment end? (Bowman traded to Montreal)
He's never been good at catching the ball on fades and corners. His best routes are ones into the field.

Yep, but he has those plays ready and scripted no matter what, he's not adjusting. He'd be adjusting if he stuck with what worked. He's going to run the plays he's scripted no matter what. Like a double reverse off a wildcat formation to Simonise when he's up 17-0 on 1st and 10. Why run that there? That's a play you run when you're down 17-0. Huge risk of a turnover.
