Receivers don't block or break tackles.

He's on the same track as the receiver and the receiver is running like he's wide open. Lawler isn't prepared for that pass to be defended. That's not a penalty. Put your foot in the dirt and get your hands up on the ball before the DB can.

If that's PI you basically aren't allowed to make any contact in the course of playing defense.

Would be really nice to have a big target who could win on some vertical routes against these teams blitzing on us and playing a ton of cover 0/1.

His first foot and leg up to his butt cheek is out of bounds long before he possesses the ball. Arguable both feet are out before he has the ball, but for sure one. Can't possess the ball legally after that.

If Williams had any idea where the ball is that's an easy INT. But go ahead, celebrate.

Condell at OC is like the early Walters/MOS days when we brought in Bellefeuille. That's about the level Condell is. Everyone knows his gameplan and it hasn't worked for a long time.

Condell's style of playcalling is only to run for the sake of it. So we just run into a full run blitz blocking 6 on 8.

You can't legally catch a ball if any part of your body is out of bounds before you have possession.

I'd bet my life Lawler isn't in bounds with control of that ball. Why can't we see it?

Our DB's are just always in wrong leverage. Other teams receivers must just be laughing at them out there.

The reason is because we have no Canadians who can play OL. We're losing on draft day and with Danny McManus road trips.

Dinwiddie paid $150,000 for a QB who didn't take a snap for him. If he wasn't even going to give Dru Brown reps in camp and knew he was going another direction, why not cut him before the bonus?

Why not just suspend guys instead of saying they can't sign in the league?

Given the amount of times we could have picked Cenacle or Ojutalayo (Calgary pick), Ulm (Toronto pick) but we picked 3 LB's...probably really only one who has potential to be a solid player on D....insane. That's ignoring the Daniels situation. I'm pretty firmly on the BPA side of the CFL draft, obviously factoring in availability....but if you looked at our roster it's pretty clear we needed to use at least one of our first 4-5 picks on a receiver, more likely one of our first 3. We also drafted a literal stiff in Trey Laing who had no shot to ever make anything in this league (one of the worst total combine performances ever) over a guy like Daniel Wiebe who is a little sparkplug slot receiver with hands out of Sask in 25.

Montreal is basically giving up a ST TD against per game. But their ST guy is head coach in waiting.

What are we at, 4 100+ yard drives against so far this season? Not much credit going to come from me. I'd rather gamble on making some plays on D and give up a 100 yard TD than give up 12 play drive for 100 yards. We're playing the wrong style in this current era IMO.

Zero INTs, two forced fumbles and most big plays against after 4 games. The whole point of this scheme is sacrificing the big plays by the D to give fewer big plays to the O. We’re just getting nothing good. This D scheme is really playing not to lose instead of playing the win. The wind in the sails of this franchise left when Younger took over the D. We have no ability to control games or shift momentum with this style of defense.

Kahmann on Toronto is basically Schoen at his peak right now. Sask just burned 35 seconds off and took a time count while down 9 pushing the 3 minute warning. WTF

In Younger's system there's an overwhelming fear of allowing big plays and it basically prevents the defense from having the ability to make big plays. You can't just flip a switch and decide that the game is on the line so we need to change up our mentality now. We need to play that way for 60 minutes. And that mentality is being coached.

My thought on Castillo....they are very enamoured with his range but his accuracy has been an off and on problem. Would not mind taking some looks at American kickers on PR as the season moves along. I don't like being super loyal to kickers. They are very cyclical and you almost need to just land on the one who is most consistent, feeling good about themselves, at that time.

My OL analysis: We have a poor technical crew. Wallace, Eli, Broxton all try to maul and are over focused on their assignment in protection (man) over being in good position. That opens up gaps for blitzes. In being so focused on one block most of the time, they kick wider (Broxton) and open their hips which opens up rush lanes. They also lose their feet when they start driving guys in pass pro, can't adjust to blitz because of that and open hips. Want hips to be parallel to line of scrimamge to make a pocket, not leave rush lanes for blitz. Example: Wallace is over focused on DT rushing his outside gap (B for defense), opens his hips to work inside shoulder of that DT, he's driving that guy out but now Collaros backside A is wide open because Eli is doing the same thing on frontside A to the nose tackle. This is how you can have guys making a block but still blowing up pass plays in protection. Then your WIL/MAC/Safety is coming with a free run around those DL. This needs to be corrected because everyone obviously watches film and knows they can bait our guys into opening up the middle then come with a bit of a delay where their LB/safety might have a run read then flip to rushing depending on how many guys we leave in to block. I would like to see us running fewer man protections and more space eating zone style where they just take what comes to them instead of chasing blocks. They really have to beat the bad habits out of these guys by simplifying. Daniels is a mess in pass pro beyond plays where he is just chipping and leaking out. Bryant is struggling to keep his feet and handle speed. He is over compensating for this by kicking wide which also opens up that backside B gap repeatedly. Makes it very hard to build a consistent pocket, especially against a team that recognizes this weakness and blitzes....which is going to be everyone against us until there is significant improvement in how our OL plays/how we handle pressure.

I don't think that was the necessarily the first read on that play. Collaros was under pressure and gave Nield a chance to make a play because it was Cover 0. We just don't have the guys to make those plays on contested balls right now. Demski is the best #3 receiver in the league and Nield would be up there for #4's. When they get moved up, we bog down a bit. There's less space for everyone, and at this point we don't have anyone who can really make those plays on vertical or even mid range routes well-covered.
