There's a 0% chance amateur football will change field dimensions. It costs millions of dollars for turf fields. Some of these have just been replaced and will live for 15-20 years. It costs tens and tens of thousands to move/replace uprights. This would only happen over decades as fields are replaced. There's also zero benefit to the field dimension changes. The football people around the table know this. Just turning a lot of FG's into punts.

Sure, but literally looking at the numbers what I posted is accurate. It cost them more to travel for a playoff game and Grey Cup than the revenue they earned from hosting a playoff game.

Jake Meier is also currently 25 points lower in QBR than Brown was even in his lost season last year and Ottawa is 0-2 getting their asses kicked twice at home by two of the less competitive teams in the league from last season with barely no offense before YAB's. So the appeal to authority there isn't very strong.

Think he lived up to the hype in 24. Carried a pretty terrible Ottawa team into the playoffs. No run game either year. 8th ranked D both years in Ottawa. Terrible OL which resulted in Brown getting injured. Only qualms with everything and our offense is Condell offenses tend to fade pretty hard when the going gets a little rough. And I don't think he's a guy to develop QB's in this league. I'd rather have Dru Brown than Vernon Adams. And the rest of the starters in the league outside Rourke are pushing 40.

Once I heard he was getting basically no reps in camp I was waiting for him to get cut. But they sank a lot of money into his roster bonus. You'd think if you have no real interest in giving the guy a shot you'd make the move on him in December/January before you pay the bonus.

I don't think it changes much for him. Sure he's one more guy getting injured away from his shot in the immediate, but he's also not ready so if Collaros was down can almost guarantee the Bombers would have made a move on a veteran QB anyways. He's got tremendous talent, particularly with his arm, but is very raw. Keep in mind how many even quality backup CFL QB's carve up pre-season defences. Like Streveler. Even that guy Sask put in later in the game. Elgersma you could see the talent but also how raw he was with reads, the pulling down and running the ball, forcing it (which is better than the alternative of folding in the pocket). This is a learning year, next year is a competing year and Year 3 he should be pushing the starter. I hope we see some signs of life from a guy like Fletcher.

They can still sub for an American like they always could any snap. Just gives that flexibility for the designated player to sub in for any starter basically. Keep in mind there's no ratio on special teams plays, teams run about 60 snaps each on O and D. Honestly the absolute simplest spot for them to run this would be on the DL. Make Jefferson the DNA, designate Lawson/Gatkuoth and you gain 25 snaps where you don't have to match subs by nationality on D. So if they wanted to be really careful you could just do that in the long quarters (2nd and 4th). Offense we really don't have the Americans dressed to even use it.

I don't really see the need to dress Elgersma if everyone is healthy. Perkins is an exceptional running QB on the designed run plays. It makes the wedge play that much easier if the D has to respect the fact he can also pull the ball out and run like a goddamn running back downhill at them. I think it would be a mistake to sit him down or cut him, he's a weapon. Also a guy we could consider using under the old "can have more than 1 QB on the field" rule change. How many times can you remember going through all 3 QB's in a game? Say Collaros goes out, Brown goes in. Perkins is a stop gap if you really need him to run the offense, but then you can dress Elgersma in the next game if Collaros is out.

No we gave up a first to Toronto for him once he re-signed. We basically swapped our first for our own second we already traded them and there's a conditional 2nd if he re-signs here. The CFL Draft is the shits anyways. By the time a guy can really play he's a free agent free to go anywhere with no compensation. Half the time you get as good of a player out of the 3rd or 4th round as the 1st or 2nd. Much rather have a franchise QB than a draft pick.

Perkins is basically a running back. There's no way he doesn't dress for that role on game day. Elgersma doesn't factor in this season unless there are injuries to Collaros or Brown.

That's not how it works. It doesn't change the number of Canadians and Americans on the roster. Just allows that American player in a DI spot to substitute for a Canadian starter for those snaps. So all you do is start a Canadian and start one of your guys who would be a DI. Put the vet as a DI instead of a starter. Now that vet can sub in for either guy. So like in our secondary....DI Nichols, start Vaval. Now Nichols can function as the 2nd Canadian on D for 25 snaps per game. So you can only have Kramdi or Lawson or Gatkuoth on the field with 11 Americans for those snaps. Could easily do it with Jefferson for DNA as well. And could designate any of those guys as the "8th Canadian" being nationalized for their tenure. But we don't. So we're running Jake Kelly out there for 25-30 snaps a game on D.

Edmonton has seen the Oilers take off and the CFL franchise decline. Mega $$$ to get into Oilers games too. There's huge competition there. We've seen similar in Winnipeg except the CFL team did a better job of selling their product and the NHL team is struggling to get people in because they got very passive with marketing from early success. The difference between the venues in Edmonton now couldn't be more stark. Commonwealth reminds me of Winnipeg Enterprises era at the stadium and arena here. Like literally same style of concessions and everything, at least was pre-pandemic. Hardly any capital poured into that place in the last 20-25 years since World T&F. Put in some new seats....lipstick on a pig. And their rink is probably the nicest one in the NHL now, big, bright, all kinds of stuff going on around the games, top notch concessions and marketing. Alberta government budget is like $85 billion. If they spent put 0.2% of that over 5 years into state of the art outdoor stadiums for Edmonton and Calgary they'd be set for the next 60 years. But it's not a priority at all.

Summarize what happened in Edmonton since 2009 as Tillman, Ed Hervey, Chris Jones and the cast of characters in their wake as the board panicked more and more as the bottom fell out over the last 20 years.

The stadiums in Alberta are like the third circle of hell. Just terrible facilities and they keep putting lipstick on the pigs.

Spring football isn't a popular spectator sport on either side of the border.

Ottawa and Toronto both look awful so far. They'll hype the hell out of Kelly but he's lucky he didn't throw about 12 picks in that one. He's got nothing on the ball, but some great receivers.

If I'm being honest in 2026 the only reason Bryant should still be on a pro football field is to count for the ratio. If we want that to be an American spot we damn sure should be playing someone a lot better.

Mike Benson got that old waiting for Mike O'Shea to give him an opportunity to shine.
