  1. and he was a Winnipegger!
  2. Donnelly Rhodes is dead! I won again! https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-story-215737-8-.htm#215737
  3. Sounds like the kind of guy I'd want to watch hockey and have a beer with (many beers in fact). The only time I've been to Buffalo I went to some bar and ate wings out of a bucket. The wings had a name, can't remember what they were called....
  4. ok thanks for the input on Bear, both of you guys. My only concern is if he is so good, why are my Oiler fan buddies always pitching me on taking him?
  5. yeah that makes sense - really like Dano's hands on that goal he scored yesterday. Kid has talent, just not a lot of room on this roster with all of the talent that is already there. I can't believe I am writing that.
  6. not sure why you sit Dano, given the production he is getting for the small amount of ice time he gets.
  7. I think you were talking about the Kelce hit. He got up and was doing the funky chicken all the way to the side-lines. Tyrod Taylor took two serious shots to the noggin yesterday in the Bills game. I don't know how his brains aren't scrambled right now. This is the kind of stuff that is going to end up killing football. I don't see how the game can survive long term, now that they are starting to see the brain damage effects.
  8. That hit to the head on Kelce on Saturday had me almost tossing my cookies, it was so disgusting.
  9. Kirk Douglas was on the Golden Globes tonight. I think he died in 2012.
  10. I assume Lowry will still be out, giving Roslo another shot. Like seeing him with another skill player like Dano. He didn't look out of place out there.
  11. is it wrong now after every Jets goal I hear this song in my head?
  12. If a Saskatchewan player goes down while the Bombers are in hurry up, just keep playing and run right over him, even if he is legitimately injured.
  13. my Oiler fan buddies are always pitching me on this Bear guy. Never heard of him. They still want Trouba really bad. Not sure Trouba would be wild about that.
  14. or we could follow tradition and trade him to Anaheim for two bums who go nowhere.
  15. with all of the pay upgrades coming down the pipe, I don't think the Jets can afford to keep Buff. I like the toughness he brings to the game. We missed him in that Nashville game for sure as the Predators were taking liberties knowing Buff wasn't there to make them pay, but that's something we'll have to deal with I guess. I don't know what Buff would bring. I know the Kings sure wanted him before he signed his deal. Not sure what the Kings have that we would want.
  16. Tyrone Jones didn't set any records (though I wonder about his sack totals) but he also was something special. I doubt Rod Hill gets that many INT's unless a QB is pooping his pants all night worried about getting smoked by a linebacker who just never stopped coming.
  17. package him with Hutch? I think Poolman is ready to make the jump full time.
  18. I believe they can be waived at the option of the player.
  19. I witnessed some of these records being set, including the night Fred Reid went wild in BC. He had another TD in that game that was called back because he had gone off the field earlier with an injury and was supposed to be off for three plays, and was only off for two. He comes back on after two plays, scampers for a TD (probably got enough yards to break the all time record too because it probably was for at least 30 yards) and Wally throws the challenge flag (because the refs missed it), and ruins it. Oh well. Couldn't blame Wally on that one, though it was too bad.
  20. hmmm....when would that have been? I remember when Jets 1.0 started in the NHL in 79-80 the Jets had the tandem of Brian Swain doing play by play and Pit Martin doing the colour on CKND. Not sure how long that lasted before CBC was doing the games. I remember only being able to see the Jets on Saturdays, if they were playing another Canadian team like the Oilers, Leafs or Canucks.
  21. Bruce Hood, former NHL ref, died yesterday of prostate cancer. He was the ref who had to deal with the "Good Friday Massacre" in the good old days of the Montreal/Quebec rivalry. I really hope Quebec gets an NHL team again some day. https://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/2018/01/05/bruce-hood-renowned-nhl-referee-dead-at-81.html
  22. The fact that you are getting so defensive when I was just making a joke indicates to me that yes, you took this a little personally. If I ever beat you again, I will not mention it. Oh look, the deathlist is out. Herman Wouk is #3. Olivia De Havilland is still alive? Who knew? Who is Leah Bracknell, and why is she expected to die so young? https://deathlist.net/
  23. ha ha yeah - Kirk Douglas better watch out! Wow I didn't think she'd take it so personally too! iHeart, don't worry, this can be your thing. I was just amazed because every other single time I've seen news of a celebrity dying you've usually posted about it hours beforehand. It's a testament to your commitment to reporting celebrity deaths that I am honored to have finally beaten you.
  24. Someone teach Ehlers how to score on breakaways. It's getting beyond ridiculous.
