Who is the top receiver in free agency?
The Bombers need to bring in a QB with some CFL experience. Pipkin's at least won a couple of CFL games. He's young. He has some upside. If we sign him, he may not even make it through camp, but we still need extra camp arms anyway.

He's no one's first choice. If Ottawa can come to an agreement with Arbuckle, Nichols will be left with Toronto or wait until a starting QB goes down.

$225K is a huge bonus. Masoli for example got $175K. All of the bonus money is already gone from the SMS. Bonuses don't get prorated over the season. Therefore, if Collaros goes on the 6 game, the $ saved are relatively small. It's the difference between 27.2K per game and 12K per game. {Whole salary / 18} vs {((Salary - Signing Bonus) /18) - (per game playing bonus) /18)) = 12K/game}- Collaros signs 2 year deal
Collaros at $450K with a bunch of it as playing time bonuses is good value. At $490K with 225K of it as a signing bonus and only 50K in playing bonuses is a big difference. The 225K signing bonus is off the SMS before a game is even played. If Collaros gets hurt in the first game like he did last year, the whole $225K is a cap loss. If he goes on the 6 game the SMS savings are based on his per game salary which is 225K less than his total salary.- Collaros signs 2 year deal
3 teams, now 4, have paid big for their QB's. The rest are below Collaros' money despite the fact that Collaros only played 4 games last year. Compare Collaros' contract to Masoli's who played 6 games last year, not to the top 3 QB's in the league.- Collaros signs 2 year deal
Toronto's not a good place for Nichols either. He needs to be able to get comfortable behind a great O line to be successful.- Collaros signs 2 year deal
Nichols was $455K last year and that was overpaid. Collaros is $490K. That's below Reilly, BLM and Harris. Is Collaros, especially considering his injury history, the 4th best QB in the league? Only $50K in playtime bonuses considering the concussion issues is dumb IMO. I think we overpaid, but I'd rather have Collaros than Nichols.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
Call it the 'Once wore a blue jersey' syndrome.- Collaros signs 2 year deal
I doubt there's enough room in the QB budget to for Collaros @ $500K plus Nichols.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
Revisionist history. Weren't you one of those who said that not having Collaros last year in the playoffs didn't matter at all to our win?- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
I give you Collaros as a guy who has zero knowledge of our system and completely sucked on their last team. That's what folks are hoping for.- 2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.
When your coach calls you to tell you the team is going a different direction, you've already played your last game for the team.- Bomber Free Agent Discussion

As you prove week in and week out. Buck the QB was a warrior, not the smartest guy on the field. He took the hits to make the plays which cost him a lot of playing time. Streveler might be able to play like that, but Collaros/Nichols wouldn't last 3 weeks.- 2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.
Pierce hasn't ever been an OC so he has no track record. Your opinion is based purely on hope that he'll do what you want him to.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
Sure, but that has nothing to do with the CFL ratio.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
It doesn't really matter what the sport is. Wrestling, Soccer, Football, Baseball, Hockey, etc. It's a bigger problem getting some players across the border than it is to get them a work permit once they get here.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
Sure but that doesn't really apply to the CFL ratio. If you play sports or are an actor or several other industries, you can work in Canada pretty easily. Every US player is legally entitled to work in Canada and that includes the guys on the PR and the guys who don't even make the team.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
Like I said, I'm no expert. As you are, can you point me to where in Canadian Labour Law it says that companies must hire X% or X number of Canadian's. A quick google search turned up nothing. Does the NHL require X number of Canadians per Canadian team or does each team choose the best players?- Bomber Free Agent Discussion
- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
I'm no expert, but I doubt there is anything in Canadian Labour law that forces Canadian companies to hire X% of Canadian workers. The CFL has the ratio because of it's own rules and because they negotiated X number of Canadians with the union. Changing the number, which happens fairly regularly, requires the players signing off.- 2019-20 CFL Offseason
