He'll be receiving a baptism by fire. They will stack up on him and send the blitzes and chase him all over while in zero. If he can't make a long completion or two to keep a defence honest, it could get rough. Yes we have a running game, veteran receivers and the best O-Line in the league, but it will be all for nothing if Dukes can't push the ball downfield and exploit the man and zero that he'll inevitably see (or at a bare minimum, make oppositions think that he could). Arbuckle appears to be our current #2. Yes, Kelly will play. And he'll set decibel records for how loud he gets booed in each away game. Argos need 4 or 5 wins during the MOP's suspension in order to have a realistic shot at 1st. It's doable. This is a very talented roster... but we have question marks in depth that we haven't had in awhile. Specifically: I have no idea who our backup Tackle would be. At this point it looks like we'll slide Hunter over if needed. Who are our backup Corners? Our American receiver list is thin too (and I note that Coxie has a hamstring niggle this week). All in all, it is very un-Argolike to not have the answers to the depth questions carved in stone. Maybe signings are already planned and because we don't get our QB1 back for 9 games, we're in no rush? IDK.

That surely would've been optimal for the player, club and league... but not for the complainant. They would obviously have been best served by using the media and the CFL investigation as a big stick to maximize their settlement. Can't fault them for using the tools available to them. Smart.

But he's a big enough name that even if he isn't your particular cup of tea, you'd have to acknowledge what a coup it would be to get him. Seriously, I'd hate to be in charge of the selection because I just don't think you could make everyone happy (absent a huge injection of sponsor money that signs a big act, or acts as was the case at the 100th).

Mild shock about Tavarus McFadden and Maurice Carnell IV. Both were projected starters in our defensive backfield. A backfield that lost Stiggers, Peters and Pickett... so it's a big reset. The new defensive coordinatorS must be very confident in the new talent they brought in to drop two players who clearly play at starting CFL level.

I'd have thought that the League would've gone for any party which they thought were involved. As Murphy seems to have been named by the complainant in the suit, you'd expect he'd have taken a pinch too.

I see it as at least a possibility that the league just gave out a suspension 225% longer than any it has ever given as a CYA. The longest suspension they ever gave to my knowledge is 4 games. And those are for violent offences which we can all see and replay in slow mo. Some of them would put you in jail for 10 years. In the Kelly matter, we have a he-said she-said. He is a man who has made ludicrously bad choices in the past and seems to still not get the gravity of what it is to be the face of a team and the league. She is an employee who wanted her contract renewed (weird, if you were an SA victim) but because she didn't get the enhanced skills and qualifications which her employer told her to pursue in her exit interview last season, she wasn't brought back and soon after filed a suit. This is what we know. Whatever you think of my character notwithstanding, these seem to be the incontrovertible facts that we have available and we may never get the rest of it after the settlement and the NDA is signed.

I expect we roll with Dukes and Scott. We have another young QB named Raquet who likely gets some roster time due to this. It's crazy how we as fans have a nine game suspension on the MOP and no earthly clue as to what he allegedly did. And we may never once the civil case is settled.

I'm bummed to hear that about the recent Samsonite models. I guess that some things aren't made the way (or where) they used to be. I was looking at the Samsonite Classic NXT 3 Gusset Briefcase as a replacement for my daily. Makes you nervous when you can't just walk into a store and physically compare them. You just order it, wait until it arrives and hope for the best these days.

Hard to go wrong with Thule in general. As a travel bag they really are good stuff and the Subterra line have a nice modern, minimalist look externally. But you could likely get enough in there between their spinner and backpack to last a good week on the road. I'm the same as you for my workday bag (lappy, water bottle, good ol' stanley thermos in hammertone green just like grampa's was, and my EDC pouch). It's a Samsonite 3-zipper briefcase/shoulder bag that I got 22 years ago and after two decades of rough use is only now coming up for replacing. (mostly I'm a total mark for that company because as a child I remember their commercials featuring a gorilla attempting and failing to destroy their luggage).

You just need to blend in carving up a twisty road with your brothers in a pack of v-twins on your way to the bar to watch the away game... That's a good day.

Lots of duffers here. I gave up golf about 10 years back (except for when my late father asked me to join him). A green fee, cart, beers, lunch... It would usually be a $300 day. Whereas for $35 of premium gas a sandwich and a few Gatorades, I could have a heckuva day on my Indian with the fellas.

S'posin that it does. But it sure helps me out when I want to skip my Saturday chores and errands and go do a 5 hour lap up around Algonquin when the Lady says she wants to hop on the back. (also an avid tailgater and hearing her womansplain football to people is really just the best). Edit to add: she also rarely objects when she finds another hidden EDC item that I stashed in her purse "for her".
