It really should be neat. My trick when I started was to breath in before I took a sip and breath out after but I'm at the point where I am so used it I'll really savour it. I like brandy neat but not scotch.

Scotch needs to be drunk on the rocks, that's rule number one. If you guys need help with a fifth of twelve year...do send it my way. Trick is to let it sit with ice for a few minutes, then sip it slowly. Once you 'acquire' the taste you won't look back.

Halloween is All Hallows eve, ie. the night before all saints day. No one with a brain has a problem with the dressing up aspect because it's a harmless throw back to the pagan origins of the holiday. That's a bit insulting to say one has no brain because they don't share the same belief as you do. No need to be narrow minded! I can also say that the extreme religious folks also hate on the commercialization of Christmas with Santa (Santa isn't suppose to be wearing red and white!) and Easter should not be about Bunnies lol! My favourite is people who have a problem with XMAS. The X actually represents the Greek symbol for Christ.

Christmas is on Dec. 25 because it was put there to counter a pagan holiday. Historical records indicate that Christ was probably born in summer. So much for all the carols about a cold stable.

Just thought I'd bring in a different one. If you look back to the industrial revolution...those business men took risks too. Did that give them the right to shamelessly exploit workers? To exploit children in coal mines and factories? To amass ridiculous fortunes until World War One brought income tax? All of that was their right, and no one questioned it. Today, both sides should be questioned, business and union.

Retro pay cheques are largely lost to income tax. I speak from experience as a bargaining chair. We had a contract that expired in June 2010. It was September 2011 till we finally settled. The net benefit to members from back pay was negligible.

Well, that would defeat the purpose of a union if they took any other approach. Let's not pretend governments wouldn't take full advantage of them if they did. If a government isn't happy with a contract, they shouldn't sign off on the bloody thing.

Pallister is also the wrong guy to win them votes in Winnipeg, where they need to win votes, but they don't have a lot of options. He may swing some of the rural ridings that are currently NDP (Interlake, Gimli, et. al.) but Winnipeg will stay about the same. More votes from rural folk in Tory strongholds will not get them anywhere.

The best of a shitty lot got re-elected. I have to agree with JBR. The PC's tried to run with an NDP lite campaign last election - it failed miserably. I for one will not be surprised if the NDP wins the next MB. election as well.
