Can't read the article...
I can

I don't like overly bitter beers, I like something with a clean aftertaste, but I'll drink a bottle of anything once.
Can't fault a man the first time.

Change for the sake of making change. The entire offensive philosophy needs to be redeveloped here before a couple of new receivers are going to make any valuable difference to this team's success, short or long term
Yep, but I figure the rest of this season is pretty much TC anyway.
-
Got a kick out of some people at The Keg: asked for the entire beer list to be recited...then ordered Bud and Coors Light.

Maybe he will say something smart like Goltz is the starter for the rest of the season. And stick to it.
It is going to be an interesting game coming up. One word, Run Justin, RUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
Especially after watching Reilly get creamed multiple times on Saturday...maybe there's a mercy rule...somewhere in the annals of the CFL rule book...

Mmmmmmmmm, Tiger Scraps.
Yum yum, now for some Horse Hash or Lion Leftovers to round out the palate

The way it stands right now Burke will go down as the worst, bar none worst coach this team has ever had. At least if you replace him you have the chance of getting the players fired up again. Regardless, pretty much a clean sweep is needed in the off season.
Do you really think so? Jim Daley in '05 had a much better QB (Glenn) than anything Burke has right now. That '05 team was abysmal.
and what's this team? I honestly think Burke is the worst head coach I've ever seen on this team.
Merely pointing out...there's plenty of futility to choose from

So who did they bring in???
Jason Boltus
Sigh. I see on the other board that some posters agree with me about this O-line. I still maintain that that is the absolute first thing that must be addressed. Until the O-line is improved this offense is going nowhere. Dear Wade: Please find the next Chris Walby and build an O-line around him. Please do it soon and at any cost. Thank you.
Any cost can mean a lot of things. What if decided to start 3 Americans?
Then our NI's would be: 2 OL, the Muambas on D, 3 receivers
It would be great if scouting could replace Bowman and they could swing a trade to replace Morley
At any rate, it'll be interesting to see what they do.

I assumed we had good U.S. scouting in place under Mack. But when Shannon Boatman is the best we can do at the import RT position, then U.S. scouting was clearly not that great.
and Boatman is one of those players cut adrift from another team that people scream they wanted Mack to sign too. Honestly though I want to see what the o-line looks like with a different guy coaching them. As much as I can tell from watching on TV I haven't seen DelMonaco make anyone better in that position in his time here.
Having had the chance to watch Calgary's OL (live) twice this year, I can say that there is an OL that dictates the flow of the game. Ours isn't close to doing that.
-
The drafting actually did get better while he was here...mainly because previous regimes left themselves only 3 picks to work with most of the time.
I haven't been a Mack supporter for pretty much the past year, but I think we need to be careful with the assumption that will things will get better now that he's gone.

Walters will run the CIS draft...but who's in charge of U.S. scouting? What is being done to upgrade this area?
Until questions like that are answered...things are probably not going to get better.

The 2001 team had Khari Jones, Milt Stegall, Robert Gordon, Charles Roberts, Mike Sellers et. al. If anything, I dare say they Underachieved
-
I get all the logic boys. My point we don't just do it with the Lapo / Burke situations...do it all the time.
-
No worries, there just on a fly pattern.
Boltus has a strong arm, but this may be ridiculous.
Groan...just don't start anything about tight ends and wide receivers...

Besides Lapolice, Bob Irving was on our flight, as were Paul Wiecek, Kirk Penton, Clarence Denmark and Terrence Edwards. They were NOT used to being recognized in Toronto.
Terrence Edwards and Clarence Denmark but not the rest of the team?
Indeed, we were some of the first passengers to board, would've been pretty hard to miss the rest of the team.
I wonder if they missed the team flight. And the reason I asked is some people will travel on the same flight as the but only mention a couple of players. Should have know you wouldn't be one of those but it seemed weird they travelled separately.
It's more like they were on an earlier flight. Buck for one was still in the airport when our flight was boarding. Both of our flights to and from Toronto were completely full. I suspect the team have had to do some shuffling.

well the logic behind creehan was that he and burke did fine work together in the past, but burke appears to have taken a real hands off approach which isn't working.
But that was also the logic behind Lapo hiring Reed, Walters, Barresi, etc... good working relationship - except somewhere at some point you need support staff with real CFL experience at their position - Lapo's crew had CFL exp but all of them got promotions at once... so all were learning together, it just doesn't work
Burke did pretty much exactly the same thing... except with less CFL exp... just can't figure out how we didn't learn...
Lapo was never hands off with the offense.
And most of us on the message boards wanted to Lapo to be more hands off with the O. Now we want our current HC to be MORE INVOLVED with the D.
Dunno, the assumption Bomber fans always make seems to be 'the guy doing it doesn't know what he's doing'
-
So...my buddy and I ran into Lapo 3 times in Toronto. Once on the street, twice at the airport. "Mr. Lapolice are you stalking us?" Also saw him talking to Buck right across from us at the departure gate. Decided to leave the poor guy alone...already...only to discover he was on our flight...

For what it's worth, Bob flew exec, Lapo flew economy. (TSN vs. CJOB? Hmmmm...)
Cool CFL weekend.

If Burke is such the Defensive genius that everyone touts him to be, why isn't he helping Creehan to get things straightened out? I know most people are going to think I'm stupid for saying it, but I think when Burke was a DC, he surrounded himself with great defensive coaches that did most of the work for him. The more I see him on the sidelines or talking to the media, the more I think he's a complete sham and road the coattails of others to get to the top. The second Coach Harris died, swaggerville started to fail. He finally got screwed when HE had to choose his own defensive staff and picked a dud in Creehan. It's either that or Mack just handed Burke the worst defensive players in football.
Flame away.
The book on Burke was always his ability to coach DB's. 2011 he had the secondary playing lights out while Coach Harris was running a top notch DL and also mentoring other defensive players.
The result was a kick ass D that carried the team to a miracle GC appearance.

A few things:
Calgary secondary played a nice mix man and zone...had Collaros confused out there. Quite the change from Ray, who was literally slicing them up.
On the play where Ray got hurt, he didn't see a receiver wide open on a quick slant...after that he was in trouble...could have been a big gain instead of a big injury
Calgary OL does an excellent job run blocking...no matter who the starting RB is.
Toronto front 4 got man-handled on most drives. Made some stops...but mostly Glenn had all day to throw and the running attack gained yards.
When TO called a QB draw (2 or 3 times), Collaros didn't even look downfield...could've gotten killed out there...
Argo fans sitting in the same section...actually think Barker will trade Ray and then protect Collaros in the expansion draft. I didn't laugh...but I sure wanted to.

With fatso probably out for the year, and Cornish out with a thigh injury, I like Toronto's chances.
Of course, I also thought BC would win easily yesterday...so...yep.
that's how i figure it...
hopping my train soon... Mark H, see you there... my mobile# is in your PM box
Somebody save this post as evidence if we never hear from Mark again.
I can already see the headlines ...
"Bomber fan beaten by entire Argonauts fanbase; one man arrested"
Pretty tame joint...was easy to get out alive. Bluto is good people.

I'm in Waterloo this week...the locals Ales are excellent...I'm even drinking less scotch

I feel bad for Rob Bagg. You've got to admire all the comebacks he's made, and each time he's come back he's played at a high level.
Saskatchewan 2013 looks like Blue Bombers 2011 -- they started like a house on fire, but they have some structural deficiencies.
Aside from the fact that Saskatchewan has a fantastic offense and we had a pitiful offense and only won many of those games with superb performances from the D...
The Montreal D exposed a few things yesterday...as did Calgary last week. Rider O is overrated...starting with Durant.

I dare say it's an indictment of our U.S. scouting...
