Walters wanted Edem but at the time, he also wanted Mitchell.

Proof is in the pudding by the team he built, I believe. I know the Edem story has made the rounds & from what I understand actually happened. Denying it would be like saying Rob Ford doesn't eat too much.
I guess this would be a good time to mention that if Mack always listened to Walters, we'd have Edem and Pasztor over Mulumba and Pencer but we'd also have Mitchell over Muamba.

Well I haven't even said who the source was and I can't unfortunately. But rumours are interesting. Time will tell if its true or not. There are a couple people on here who know where I got the info and he would be in a position to know. But then again who knows!

I don't have a problem with major decisions that clearly impact the future of the team and team finances being cleared through Miller. And I don't even mind Miller asking for a heads up on moves

I think what worries me is Miller being the defacto GM. I'm sure Mark Chipman is aware of moves Chevy makes but I bet Chevy doesn't have to check with Mark before he makes a trade.
Think again.
Ownership approval on trades is pretty much standard in ANY professional sport.

So Edwards and Johnson say the problem is too many rookies. They say the coaches has them prepared with the gameplay flawlessly but love bullets hindered the kids. And some people still try to stretch that as Burke's fault. So Burke has the team flawlessly prepared according to two veterans but it's his fault when certain rookies lose their heads in real games?
If you do a crappy job at work but loved your job would you quit? Is Burke killing this team? Absolutely not. That's ludicrous. He's doing the best he can. He's not malicious. If anyone can't stand him being here don't blame Burke, blame his boss.
If week after week you prepare flawlessly and then fail to execute then newsflash you are not preparing flawlessly.

What ever happened to in game coaching?
If the problem was practice habits not translating into game execution, where were the adjustments? What approach did they take to coaching these guys up on the sidelines? Aside from standing there like a miserable statue or screaming their heads off.

There are no ties in the final standing because they have something called tiebreakers.
I know Bombers technically finished second last because they beat Hamilton in the season series. Big Deal. They still tied for last with 6 wins. Last is last. And the Bombers have had good practice at it in recent years.
And this is still Joe Mack's team as far as I'm concerned so the probable last place finish this season will be on him as well.
Last is last. Except when I'm trying to argue.

With Calgary's staff, Goltz & Hall would have been coached up. Not left to hung out to dry.
You think Calgary would have found a way to coach Goltz into any kind of successful? The guy is Russell Wilson without any remote semblance of accuracy...

Burke is damned around here no matter what.
If Burke came out and said he was the reason the team sucked, that he was the worst coach ever, have the people on here would go crazy criticisms him for doing it.
If Burke donated his salary to a children's charity some would find fault in that.
He's been unsuccessful as head coach. He's not the boogeyman.
A whole lotta this. It didn't work out for him as HC, and there's no question it's time to move in another direction, but really...he's not a bad guy. Hell, we all LOVED the guy for a long time. Some people act like he killed your family...
He's killing our football team and to me, that's pretty close.

I think thats a stretch. Any coach could evaluate his team and say "we wanted to be better in some areas and will look to upgrade in the off season". Which players? "You will see in the off season"
Burke just doesn't coat his words in double talk and subtleties. I'm not carte Blanche defending him but that comment is reaching.
I don't think it's right to come out and publicly doubt the work ethic of your players and then tell people they can figure out who those players are by whether or not they're kept in the offseason.
Because now you're putting that doubt in every player we don't retain.

I think that he's making a lot of reasonable decisions that will probably appear as conflicts of interest, but that doesn't necessarily make them bad choices.
If Buchko brought in Worman or Fisher, I wouldn't be complaining. So why would I complain if Miller does it?
As long as he's capable of making both kinds of hires, I'm fine.

Meanwhile, Burke declined to specify which players he was referring to earlier in the week, when he spoke of Bombers who had seemed to check out of the season already this week. There was a "handful" of players that had shown their "true colours" in practice already by Tuesday, Burke said, and as a result they would likely not play against the Ticats.
Who that is, though, or if it includes any players currently listed as injured, Burke would not say. "I would say you’ll see in the offseason," he said. "They won’t be here."
So what he's saying is that he's not going to name names and now people are just free to assume that anyone who doesn't return could be because of poor work ethic.

Well that'd be awfully ironicmeh, guys probably just tired of dealing with a bunch of asshat football "pros" who simply cannot conduct themselves as such.
Burke's been a head coach for longer than the majority of our roster have been pro football players.
i dunno, guys who go thru big colleges are trained to be "pros" living by certain restrictions and acting a certain way.. you pull the same stuff as a pro in college, you get the boot..
i get you despise burke and his HC ability thus far but you gotta admit, he is (was?) not in the best position for success.. he would have to been an outstanding head coach to have any.success with the bullshit that has gone on here in the the last 2 seasons..

Just thought this was worth mentioning ...
For all this talk about how bad our team is and if we're really right for assuming the staff is the issue, all that discussion as to whether the problem is the staff or the players ...
There are now three players on other rosters in the CFL who were originally on our negotiation list but refused to play for this franchise because of apprehension due to the current staff that is in place.
DE Eric Norwood on Hamilton, good rotational guy in his first CFL season. Very Kenny Mainor-esque.
WR Jeff Fuller on Calgary, I'm sure we'd love to have a 6'4" receiver going across the middle like this guy has so far
DE Aaron Maybin on Toronto, waited almost two years for this guy to show an interest in the CFL and then when he finally did, he said "sure, but not in Winnipeg" and now the former first round NFL pick is in Toronto

I have no idea. But what made a glorified salesman at a radio station qualified to run a professional football club, especially with a brand new facility to manage also?
Some people have the skillset above and beyond their current job. I have no problem with rewarding skill and intelligence but many of us predicted he would crap out.
So you really have no idea, you just don't think the optics are right?
