Fitting title, seen as how if we suffer any more injuries, they might literally sign one or two of us.

That's a little disturbing ..
He's starting a lawnmower, dude.

Jay Detain could potentiallly be the first option tonight and might even snag his first 100 yard game.

If Thomas and Lucas both were listed as backups... would that not free up a DI spot?
Thomas starts, we gain an extra DI. (Or Lucas, whatever)

the market spoke on Elliott. feel free to ignore it though as I see you are already doing
what would the market say about Buck?

You might even call him a 'turnover machine' based on those numbers. I don't fault Buck for every one of those INT's over that span of time, but then there are some really really bad ones in there, too.
You'd think the label would fit, but Tim Burke would never dare.

Don't get me wrong, he's absolutely 100% right that something ridiculous like that is enough to get a bit player kicked off a team.
But you can't be making empty threats like that in a public forum.

Where'd you read that?
Jim Toth's Twitter feed.

In fact, here are Buck's statistics since the 2011 Banjo Bowl (which actually equates to 17 appearances, 1 shy of a full season)
230/381 (60.1%) for 2987 yards, 9 TD, 19 INT, 4 fumbles lost.
Awful in every sense.

i'm not implying that at all my point is that Matthews has seen bad throws and also catchable balls and hasn't come down with most of the catchable balls like he did last year. We need more from pierce but we need more from Matthews too.
My second point is that Denmark clearly played pretty shitty if the coach says he didn't once beat man coverage. Hard to compare a QB to a WR as apples to apples but to suggest we got worse play from the QB than we did from a WR that didn't beat his coverage once is laughable.
It's not a comparison.
Buck sucks. He has for a long time.
Denmark failed to beat coverage in the span of one game. Buck has been unimpressive since the 2011 Banjo Bowl.

Given my obvious curse by now, I think it's only fitting that in order to repay Dan West for his 'contributions' today, there is only one option.
I have to get a Dan West jersey.

Speaking of regret ... nice hair

all of you were throwing a pissy pants fit about buck pierce before the season even started so I'm not surprised you aren't being objective. the coach comes out and says a wr can't beat man coverage and you defend him. it's getting ridiculous.
You keep implying Burke was talking about Matthews.
Why?

pierce has thrown some bad passes but Matthews has put way more cachable balls on the turf than he's seen uncachable passes.
I don't agree with that for a second.

I guess we will just disagree on the caliber of Brouillette, Fraser and even McCartney. As in, we have DRASTICALLY different views of what consists of talent in the CFL... I will leave it at that.
Personally, I would take McCartney, Hurl, Butler, Edem, etc - guys like that over Labbe, at least they are prospects that will get better - Labbe is on the downside of his backup career taking up a roster spot that should be used for new talent.
Anyway, we're actually not even talking about NI backup... Labbe is our roster backup linebacker. James Green has not played LB for a few years now and he's the only other option. Dexter Davis could be an option I suppose...
But, yeah, if Muamba or Wild go down in the next or any game, its Labbe replacing them, just like he replaced Parker last game. He's already cost us one game.
It's not possible to dress a strong backup at every single position. You're basically afforded the ability to dress a "strong" backup at 3 spots plus whatever good Canadians you happen to have as backups and there aren't many of those around the league.
As far as upside goes, I'd rather have guys like Hurl or Edem than Labbe. No doubt. As a gameday backup at this point? Not so sure. Edem and Hurl will bring rookie mistakes. Labbe may not be the most athletic or physically capable but he's responsible out there and if he's called upon in a bind, he knows his assignments.
I don't think your opinion of Labbe is very accurate, to be honest. He's not spectacular but that's why he's a Canadian backup. He's able to fill multiple positions if necessary. Could any of those other guys you mentioned fill the middle if called upon and still be able to do everything expected of that position as far as calling out assignments, etc? Labbe can. Not so sure those guys would be able to do that.
I think it's a case where you've seen Labbe on this roster for so long and he's so mediocre that unless he's making a mistake, he's not standing out so all you remember are the bad things he's done.

Leg injuries to Winnipeg Blue Bomber Linebackers Terrell Parker and Dee-Zha Dunn are going to force the coaching staff to make 2 more changes to that outstanding defensive unit for Friday's game at Investors Group Field against Toronto. Johnny Sears is a good bet to be activated from the injured list for the game along with Ian Wild off the practise roster. More on the Bombers coming up tonight from 7-8pm on 680 CJOB with Head Coach Tim Burke. Bombers have also announced more than 29 thousand tickets have been sold for Friday's game vs the defending Grey Cup Champs.
Good lord. lol
The D-Line - Looking At The Sack Numbers
in Blue Bomber Discussion

We play in a division full of awful offensive lines and our defensive line is DEEP.
It's totally possible we could go over 50 for the year, 86 is a ridiculous number though. That's 68 in 15 games, which is 4.5 a game.
