Pierce = does just enough to win far more than he loses.
Glenn = does just enough to win about as much as he loses.
Tough to say that when Pierce has had the backing of a much stronger defense than Glenn.
-
Knowing our luck, they'll dress one of the Box J Boys and he'll scramble for 200 yards on the ground.

Glenn may not be a fantastic QB at this point in his career but man would he ever be an upgrade to Pierce in this particular offense.

Okay, you got me... Labatte was a CFL West All-star but our line was better - even though Sheets had over 1200 yards - than Sask's last year so its a bad signing. Okay.
I'm not arguing that Sask's line was good last year... just saying, that Labatte was still good even if not his best. I mean Sask was breaking in a new NI tackle... that's growing pains.
Why say the Labatte signing was not working out - when a. they were under the cap, b. they haven't cut any OL and c. they are doing great this year
I guess the funny part is that somehow Labatte was going to Sask no matter what but Taman still overpaid for him... and somehow stayed under the cap. Weird how that works... You would have thought Taman could have save some $$ since Mack had no chance of re-signing Labatte... that guy is an idiot.
a. I'm not going to look at all-star recognition for offensive linemen because the voters base their votes almost entirely on reputation. you think a beat reporter has time to grade out offensive lineman? sadly, I do and even with my extremely limited knowledge, it was obvious that Labatte had a down year
b. go ask the Rider community what they thought of Labatte's performance last year.
c. I won't knock his run blocking because he was great at it last year and always has been, but his pass protection left a LOT to be desired last year.
-
So our line gets credit for Chad Simpson's play but Labatte gets crapped on for two 130 yard games by Sheets... I see.
Sask has the best line in the league right now. We are battling to get to mediocre.
Who is talking about two games this year?
Saskatchewan's offensive line ranked below ours last year when everything was all said and done.

Oh, there is so much more fun that you could have had with that...
Back when I used to talk to Penton more on Twitter and have conversations with some of the players, etc it used to come up pretty often actually. I don't think it helped that my Twitter handle has "wpg" in it just like the Bombers' official page and I had to change my display picture to something that wasn't a Bomber logo but before that, I used to get players sending me Youtube videos, agents contacting me for tryout information and all kinds of stuff like that pretty regularly.
The weirdest one I ever had was somebody from a little town newspaper in North Carolina contacting me for permission to interview Perry Floyd for a local article.
It's entertaining, but I never messed with anyone.

It was Mike on the other site. When BT92 first came to the WBB, Mike had been reading all about him and hyped him up pretty good, to the point where he started turning them into Chuck Norris -type things, because even he knew that his comments were so over-blown. As with most things of this nature, once he started it, (and the fact that BT was backing it up...) people just ran with it.....
You can thank Turner's old agent for that one. Back in the day, he contacted me on Twitter thinking I was in the personnel department for the team and thanked me for giving BT (and Denmark, who he also represented) a chance to make the team. I explained I was just a fan and we got to talking about players and he just really had me sold on Turner as a player.

Davis will be going on the roster as the DI in place of Freddie Harris, according to Tim Burke on the coaches show. Just heard this mentioned, thought it was super interesting because I'm a big Dexter Davis fan.
Wondering if this is to give them a bit more speed off the edge to track Burris. Either that or maybe Davis is finally game ready after his injury.

Go to the 1 hour 21 minute mark - around 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Ford never touches the ball.
I can't see the video but whether Ford touched it or not, the refs made the decision that Ford was the one who fumbled the football and that turned the scrum between Goltz and Hebert into a neutral battle for a loose ball as opposed to one player attempting to recover the fumble of another player. The down by contact rules are apparently different for either situation.
-
The Hebert/Goltz play makes sense once you realize the refs determined that Ford fumbled initially, not Goltz.
It makes all the difference on that play.

The other winners this week were Hugh Charles, Andrew Harris and Jock Sanders.
As selected by the generous and humble Bryant Turner.

Oh... I assumed Fantuz and Labatte weren't horribly overpaid in free agency last year
Labatte was horrendously overpaid. So far it looks like a terrible deal for Saskatchewan.
-
I thought Labatte was getting paid around 175 and he is only a guard
maybe not more than 200K then but right around there for a tackle
Not yet, that's for sure. Labatte is among the highest paid OL in the league, guard or tackle.
185k is about the top end of where NI players come in at, regardless of position. With the salary cap going up, that may change but as of right now ...
-
Congratulations to Bryant Turner on winning the defensive player of the week award, first Bomber to take home an award this season.
-
I agree - Muamba is going to be one well paid mofo once Mack and his agent finish getting things figured out.
Most likely we can't sign him to a new deal until the end of this season or we'd have salary cap issues this season (or we'd have to cut someone who has a big price tag - although with Hefney gone....)
Henoc is easily as invaluable to this team as a all-star NI tackle... those guys make 200k+ per year.
There's not a single Canadian in this league making 200k a year.

As per official Twitter.

lol at calling Vonk a legit OL but not even wanting to protect Greaves.
-
Well with our current stable of non-imports, I'd imagine we'll look to protect 4 current starters and 3 other players.
I suspect that if Muamba signs a new deal, they'll attempt to time it so that he doesn't need to be protected in the expansion draft. If not, that's one more spot gone.
Morley won't be protected.
At least one receiver that some people will expect us to protect will be left available.
Then you can decide whether you want to protect Pencer, Palardy, Renaud, Swiston, etc from that point.

I'm starting to wonder if Frazier sits and Jake Thomas starts at DT.so that we can dress Aaron Woods.

"Before you even see Aaron play in the game, you ought to see him every day in practice," Vikings coach Jerry Glanville said. "Here's a better question: Does anybody in the Big Sky work any harder on every play in practice AND enjoy it more? That's really what he's all about.
"A lot of kids will come and try to play on Game Day. This guy plays football every snap, every day. And if I was a young kid watching him, I'd say, 'I want to be like that. That's how I want to work.'"
Good things to read about a new player.

I feel like I've heard of this Aaron Woods guy before.

Saskatchewan looks good. Sheets is an absolute force out there right now.
I'm not expecting them to maintain this level of domination but they look like a real well oiled machine right now.
