  1. A Quarterback Pressure is awarded to a defender who either forces the QB to move off his initial drop back point to avoid contact, contacts the QB in the act of throwing or has the QB in his grasp at the time an Intentional Grounding penalty is called. Only one QB Pressure per play may be awarded to the defence.
  2. Stats don't always tell the whole picture (I know you know that but I'm just saying) .. for me it was his inability to set an edge, he lacked physicality, was unable to fight across a block and often got lost in a sea of bodies. We were REALLY spoiled having a guy like Jeffcoat on our roster - that is the standard these guys are trying to hit.
  3. Or .. he's just not that good. To be honest, Hubert has shown more than Fayad. I'm not terribly upset with Fayad being dropped.
  4. Johnson is coming along and has shown more than Wilson ever has .. have to give these guys who are 4th / 5th in line for targets a bit of time. I also wouldn't rush Lucky into the lineup either .. want him to last more than a single game.
  5. I'll be the first to agree that there's a lot of bitching for the sake of bitching but that's what a losing season does to some people - perspective goes out the window and they beat the same drum over and over. That said, the roster right now is a mess and it's exasperated by the sheer number of injuries we've had this year.
  6. Just cleaned up a few posts. Please keep the discussion on football and not each other. Thanks.
  7. He practiced in full all week but was ruled out for the game .. hopefully it's just a situation of him not being ready yet but it does beg the question, why release Fayad if Garbutt wasn't good to go? (Truthfully I'm not upset by the release of Fayad, his play was very uneven and he lacked a bit of physicality. Outside that first game, he didn't make much of an impact)
  8. Latest injury report has Garbutt out for Friday .. looks like we are going to get a heavy dose of Huebert on the edge.
  9. This. I’ve been beating that drum since free agency. Don’t get me wrong, I love Brady and have always believed we need to do more to sign and retain local talent (it helps create connections to the team) but spending what we do, at that position, it doesn’t make sense. I’m not saying we don’t have few other “legacy contracts” that hamper us from a cap perspective but blowing your wad on a running back isn’t the best use of cap space.
  10. It's not really up to him to go out and prove anything, it's the coaches who need to give him that opportunity. As far as I'm concerned, Buck needs to demonstrate that he can design and call plays that take advantage of what Streveler does well both as a passer and as an athlete. Strev just has to execute the game plan and be efficient with the ball. Is he the long term answer? I don't know that but do know we will never find out if he keeps getting shoehorned into a very specific role.
  11. He'll offer more than Mitchell or Wilson at this point. The Lucky Whitehead addition, to me, is kind of meh ...
  12. I don't disagree but he's already there, in the lineup, they'll trot him out there .. I just want to see some accountability if / when a coverage is blown and it results in us being in yet another hole.
  13. A couple of thoughts leading up to the game: It's been a long time since I thought about our team being undisciplined but last week we saw a myriad of mental errors put the offense behind the sticks. With the offense struggling, and the team lacking playmakers, we must have a much cleaner game to have a chance. Our DBs have played better as the season has gone on but giving up chunk plays has absolutely killed us at times. Younger needs to get those guys all on the same page and, if BA continues to struggle, get him out of there. I love the dude and what he's given to this club but he's a liability right now. I'd like to see a more up tempo offense. We've moved the ball well in those hurry up situations and, with a guy like Streveler behind centre, we may be able to stress the Ottawa defense and move the ball consistently. Will Buck be able to implement a game plan for Streveler? The jury is out on that I think. Which receiver is going to step up? Next man up is a great mantra but means little if the next man can't make an impact. Rightly or wrongly, I don't think Demski is that guy. He's an excellent piece of a well rounded offense but is never going to dominate or routinely win those one on one battles. There's going to be at least one punt that leaves us all asking, "Why the hell is Sheahan still on the roster?" We can't keep giving up field position like that. Keeping my fingers crossed and hope that Streveler has a solid game tonight. I love that dudes fire and will always root for him. I think if he puts up 250 with 2TDs (and possibly an INT) along with 50ish yards on the ground, we win. That's easily doable for him.
  14. That Grant guy looks good
  15. I don't disagree but who are they going to bring in to make an immediate impact? A couple of thoughts: All three positions along the interior of the offensive line need work. Dobson probably has the most tools to work with of the three but he hasn't been particularly good either and is actually making me miss Gray (who probably could have kicked out to right tackle in a pinch - he'd be no worse than Lofton). This has been beaten to death but get Eli in for Kolankowski and then let things gel for a bit and hope that Eli brings more consistency to that group. Lofton needs to go - there's a reason he was punted from Saskatchewan (which was amongst the leagues worst lines last year). He's awful. If we don't have a guy on the PR who can perform better as good or better than he has so far this season, it's an epic failure. Start bringing THOSE bodies into camp. I asked the question prior to game one: will they let Streveler be something more than a gimmick QB? Up until last game, the answer was no and that was only out of necessity. Buck really needs to install an offense that takes advantage of his strengths but I'm not entirely convinced Buck will or can. Our DBs need to get on the same page. I don't know if it's schematic, lack of communication or not understanding their assignments but we've ROUTINELY seen our DBs struggle when (it looks) like they should passing off coverage. Even Nichols, who is our best cover guy, was having issues early last game. There's more I would do but those things have been talked about ad nauseum. I also recognize that many / any changes along the offensive line would take time to bear fruit and continuity is such huge thing but the team not only has to start looking at the back half of this season but next year and beyond. I don't have a lot of confidence in Buck to install an offense that's going to put Strevy in the best spot to succeed which is ironic because, in a lot of ways, they are very similar players .. same warrior mentality, similar mobility (Strev moreso) .. the problem is our receiving corps won't scare anyone and we haven't demonstrated anything on offense that people will respect. Defenses can keep everything in front of them and just come downhill.
  16. It’s why I don’t put a lot of stock in PFF grades. They have no idea what the assignment on any given play was and it skews the evaluation.
  17. I disagree with respect to Oakman. He's an athletic freak in the same mold as WJ and I think, with the right environment, he could be amazing. The question is, are the Bombers that organization anymore? I would like to have seen him here but Jones *will* get the best out of him but again .. he's another vet who is getting on in years (32 or 33?).
  18. You mean aside from not throwing a TD during our playoff run. Hell, Zach played himself out of MoC consideration from week 9-10 on last year. He was terrible down the stretch.
  19. I know he’ s been one of everyone’s favourite whipping boys but Biggie quietly had himself a solid game and probably one of his best in awhile.
  20. Says the guy who suggested that pass pro for a RB was the easiest thing to do.
  21. That’s an uninspired signing but clearly the team isn’t happy with the young guys on the roster. Who would have thought our clusterf*ck of a preseason would come back to haunt us … oh .. wait … we all did.
  22. Was going to say the same thing but that would be more energy then he’s worth.
  23. No .. you’re not. Dobson should be better at this point.
