Merged two like threads that had already begun discussing the same topics.

Lapo is a student of the game and while I think Lapo’s system is stale (and him too conservative overall) he IS an upgrade over Buck.

And yet, it wasn’t until Lucky turned it over that game got away from us. If we played complimentary football in any way all those perceived weaknesses are just a blip. It wasn’t the middle of the defense that got us beat us tonight, it was (essentially) two pick sixes and a fumble on special teams. Younger’s unit, for the most part, played well.

Despite the score, this is on one side of the ball.

They hadn’t matched up well with Toronto all season. Both games their D soundly outplayed our offense. This is on Buck and on the personnel side of things.

The point is .. WILSON WASN’T PLAYING THE BALL.

At this point .. Arbuckle has more Grey Cup TDs than ZC (last 5 years).

When the ball is live, when is it EVER a good idea to put your hands on a players back. Wilson dives at the ball. No penalty. Wilson taps him down. No penalty. Wilson could do NOTHING and the ball is recovered and we take over. No penalty. Wilson chooses to give the guy a shove. It’s a penalty.

Still .. don’t hit him in the back. How hard is that to understand? Take off the blue coloured glasses .. it was the right call.

Ahem.

He didn’t have to touch him. Let it play out. Touch him down. It was third down. We get the ball.

Wilson just has to keep his hands off the players back and we get the ball. It’s a bone headed mistake that cost us possession.

Dynasty or disappointment? As it stands now .. disappointment. We’re being beaten by ourselves (and Nick Arbuckle FFS).

Who kept saying Lucky added something to this team? That’s a killer.

This. Younger asks something different from WJ (especially in their three man fronts). He’s not going to get home often in situations like that but he CAN disrupt passing lanes and react to what’s going on in front of him. He’s still an athletic freak who was (I believe) amongst the league leaders in passes defenced

Buck’s game plan so far leaves something to be desired but this isn’t a team that’s being out-coached, it’s an offense that’s too keyed up and is pressing. Zach throwing to Wheatfall in triple coverage - perfect example. Stop trying to win an MOP with every pass. Just move the chains and keep the offense on the field. He’s got to hold onto the ball. Dropped a key one that he should have had that would have extended a drive.

Zach .. don’t play hero ball .. just move the chains. Patient Zach wins this game for us.

In the West, when I look at the course of the season, what O'Shea managed to achieve was infinitely more impressive than anything Mace did. Things could have gone of the rails in a BIG WAY after the 2-6 start. Most teams don't come back from that. Not only did the Bombers come back from it, they went on an 8 game winning streak (including winning 9 of their last 10 games) which not only helped them secure first place in the West but also helped the team earn a birth in the Grey Cup - that's significant. I'll take off my blue coloured glasses now and simply say that of the two nominees, the right guy won. Congrats to Brady as well on the fantastic campaign and well deserved recognition.

With how he performed as a kick returner, it would be the first corner he's turned in his professional career.

Zach played like dogsh*t in the last two Grey Cup runs. Injuries or not, he has to be better.
