  1. My take: Schematically we don't take advantage of Woodson's skills and, as a runner, have no use for him on our roster. The way we are currently built doesn't lend itself well to having Canadian running backs buried on the depth chart. We pick up a 3rd round pick and an non-import offensive lineman that's an instant upgrade over what we have at RG right now. Parenteau isn't going to dominate anyone but it's a solid enough move and we're getting value in the form of immediately useable parts and bump up the draft board this year.
  2. My thought is, Hall started the 2nd Hamilton game because they wanted to see more, but he got hurt. Has Goltz done anything the past 2 weeks to say he is better than Hall, or deserves more of a look? I don't believe that he has. He's more mobile. That's it. If anything, he (Goltz) needs to use his legs more.
  3. Improve the line first .. and provide whomever you decide is "the next one" the best opportunity for success. The two best friends of a young quarterback are the offensive line and a strong running game ..
  4. You can definitely tell when Burke is hands on with the defense .. BC was another example of that .. very much prefer the display yesterday to the soft zone, no rush of the last few weeks.
  5. Both to Dressler I believe. Suber got his head around to find the ball .. and was playing really tight on the receiver. Dressler, on one play, had to pull Suber down with him to prevent an interception. It was a good game by the defense. Everyone stepped up and played hard.
  6. What's with the "Buono doesn't like Foster" meme going on here? Anyone full me in?
  7. Setting up to be quite interesting who we protect going into the expansion draft .. (I really like our NI receiver depth right now) .. and how we got anything more than a roll of athletic tape for Pierce is beyond me. Thanks to Pierce for what he gave to this team but I'm so glad we finally turned that page.
  8. Can't we just call it blessed nirvana?
  9. Ugh .. really wish we had Garrett still on the roster now.
  10. Base humor at the expense of Rider fans .. I'm sold.
  11. which is STILL better than what we have right now. The guys we got now put up terrible stats against crappy defenses too. Goltz hasn't even had the chance to play against a really bad defence yet. I think I can draw more 'positive' out of the Goltz loss in BC than I can Elliott beating up a sad sack Hamilton defense.
  12. Given the fact that Kelly could step into the lineup (after a week?) and was instantly more productive than Pierce was with his opportunities .. I'm not upset by this in the least.
  13. Part of that falls on the coaching staff and the level of preparedness / game plan they have going into each game. But you're right, Reilly needs to be more consistent coming out of the gate .. especially because his team simply isn't as deep or as good as their opponents (in most cases). However, it's a positive thing that he's able to rally the troops late and make things interesting.
  14. I prefer to use the toe wedge myself .. hides the LOFT I have with other clubs (Lack of F'ing Talent). ;-)
  15. Wpg Blue Bombers ‏@Wpg_BlueBombers 2m Import wide receiver Doug Pierce has been released. #Bombers
  16. Reppin' the NFC North .. #BearDown I like the moves personally .. likely not have much of an impact this season but gets them acclimatized to the Canadian game.
  17. I'd rather have Garrett on the roster myself.
  18. Outside of Pierce, he's be the most experienced QB on our roster right now. Doesn't make him better. I start to wonder if a guy can't thrive in Wally's QB factory exactly how much potential does he REALLY have ..
  19. One year tryout? Sure, he'll get that & a two year $600,000 paid vacation after that. This organization's been there. Done that. Not saying sign him for 3 years, saying give him a 1 year tryout contract unless we can find a STAR candidate for GM this offseason (Basically unless we get a Higgins/Hufnagel/Buono/Popp level of GM I would rather us keep Walters for a year and see how well he does) The only way you get anyone worth their salt to take the GM job in Winnipeg is A) you throw a tonne of cash at them AND B ) give them term. Nobody in their right mind is going to uproot their lives and come here given the mess this team is in unless you make it worth their while. Serious candidates will simply laugh at a "prove it" deal. Emphasis added to ensure clarity since it apparently wasn't obvious that I wasn't saying to try and sign a star candidate to a 1 year contract Doesn't just have to be a star candidate .. if you are offering ANYONE a deal to come to Winnipeg .. you're going to have to give them cash and term. Plain and simple.

  21. Do you have any inkling who they are trying to trade for?
  22. Such a damn shame to see him in green. Best of luck to Garrett.
  23. Merged related topics.
  24. Too true sir. I actually think Ricky Ray is underrated. It's amazing what a future hall of famer can do for a team and coach ..
