  1. Anybody else watching the games today? Midnight for the Cinderella Flacco Browns. The night game in KC is like -25c. 5 minutes into the 1st Q and Miami looks like they just want to go home.
  2. Same, the mental aspect of that kind of isolated, dangerous work can be just as taxing as the physicality. Back to topic, yeah the amount of time spent working out, dealing with nutrition, training, film study. Todays players probably get as much or less legit time off as any of us who have been at our jobs most of our adult lives.
  3. I’ve stayed away from everywhere but here. Misery loves company.
  4. I don’t think so. That usually occurs when the player is asked to change their game or body to fit an NFL role. QB is QB. I’d worry more about that if it was a front 7 type for example.
  5. I’d take a running game of American RB’s and designed Strev plays over Brady if it came down to affording one or the other.
  6. I think the downturn in scoring was more to do with the fact that A-They had a year with no football B- 6/9 teams were using a new offence, new QB or both C- The Bomber D kicked the crap out of everyone and single-handedly brought down the scoring average I feel like the league jumps the gun implementing rule changes a lot of the time.
  7. Look I’m all for player safety but why is the league so fascinated with putting the ball on the 40? It’s an easy FG drive at the least for any competent offence. As a reward for your D giving up a touchdown? That’s just plain stupid. Again, foolish of them. I’m pretty sure it was always going to be Ottawa though. On the field, I don’t see them as the shitshow some others here do. They were a decent team last year with no QB and a lot of bad luck. Hell, they beat the Bombers. With a consistently good QB, couple pieces in FA? They could get very good very quickly.
  8. The thing I’d miss most about Brady though is his work in the pass game both receiving and blocking. Blocking in particular, I’m not sure if any of those guys can match. Strictly running the ball, yes I think any of the 3 you mentioned would do as well or better than Brady.
  9. Going all in on Maier was very foolish imo. The guy showed next to nothing Calgary’s loss will be Ottawa’s gain I guess
  10. If you had to pick one, is is Brady or Schoen? I’m taking Shoen 100%
  11. Powell was good enough to beat the Bombers last year. If he was available, they could do a lot worse.
  12. This is the biggest key of this off-season to me. I’ve repeated it before but we need a true Nose Tackle on the roster. As far as DB’s, I think wbbfan suggested that with JY, we might see less of DBs quickly turning to run with WRs, staying in backpedal longer in order to break on the ball. This tweak could be huge for a guy like Parker who excels playing that style. We’ve had our most success the last few years when the DBs are coming down on routes.
  13. I actually kind of missed Loquacious Larry. Gimmicks make the off-season more entertaining.
  14. The price for average starters has gone up too with MBT making that much.
  15. For MBT, anything above a hard 350 would be pretty rough.
  16. Oof, that’s a hefty price tag. Gotta wonder what that does to the market for Brown
  17. I’d be fine with Cole getting a shot to play in the middle. He can go sideline to sideline, and tackle RB’s consistently. Maybe Gauthier on obvious running plays. Could we use Cole to fill a gap like Biggie does? No, but I think his skill set would more than make up for it in other areas. You don’t need a 235 pound MLB in on every down anymore.
  18. I like Allen but I couldn’t put him in my top 10 From just QB’s in the last 30 years, I’d take any of Flutie, Ray, Garcia, AC, Ham, BLM in his prime, Danny Mac, Garcia, Dunnigan or Collaros over Damon Allen. That’s not counting guys I’ve only seen play after the fact like Moon or Clements.
  19. Guys, I love Bighill. He’s been an all-timer here. It’s time to replace him now, it just is. Financially, and on-field it’s time. He could be 48 years old and some posters here would still think he can provide valuable reps. At a certain point, successful clubs move on.
  20. If the Argos and to a lesser extent BC have ever had a salary cap, it’s news to me Honestly, the Jeffs broke his career in the 2019 GC. It’s just been a matter of time since then.
  21. I’ve always seen Dan Campbell as a hyper jacked-up Mike O’Shea
  22. They key is the front office finding a glut of 26-27 year old guys for TC to push out some of the deadwood. Players who have had enough time as NFL TCF/PR or a bit of time with other CFL clubs. Those are the only kind of new guys he ever puts on the roster in time to do anything meaningful in a season. Last 2 TC’s we’ve seen more 22-25 year old players being brought in. Even NI’s we draft, O’Shea seems really adverse to starting when they’re under 25-26. Rudy stories on the other hand… 23 year old DT from Florida State or something, nope. Then a guy like Jackson would have to take a piss on the 55 to get taken off. It’s not like that makes Osh a bad coach. That glass is more than half full, I’m saying his veteran bias and maybe being a bit too much of a stickler for “paying your dues” is maybe what keeps the water from being up to the brim so to speak.
