  1. I also agree that we have done really well in regards to defensive positions.......Ford has grown, Bonds looks pretty good, we still have Parker...BA has lost a step post injury but he outside a few plays hasn't looked really bad....a couple guys looked good when rotated in also.....I think we are good on the back end. As Booch said we actually appear to have some very good D-lineman, we brought in some legit talent. My surprise of the year has been Hubert, IMO he has shown me more already then Bennet did all last year....add in Schmekle being serviceable, and Jake (who yes get's too many reps currently IMO) and add in a healthy Lawson, that is actually pretty good CDN D-line depth with a quality starter in Lawson as long as he recovers...Adams has to me looked great, I thought Fox was looking good, Woods to me has been a bit up and down when in, but not enough to fairly judge, and as mentioned Garbutt and Habba when healthy both showed very high potential. A line of ........ Willy J.... Adams....Lawson.....Habba..... listed starters >>>Hubert>>>Fox>>>Jake>>>Garbutt>>>listed B/U If we rostered those 8 together and rotated closer to "normal" I see that as a really good line LB, is a tough one for me...I thought Kramdi was growing well last year, but he hasn't shown that, this year. I really like Wilson, but since injuries he hasn't looked dominant and Biggie is one of the best ever but c'mon man his leadership is unquestioned but he really should be a rotational piece this year and it shows, heck it showed last year if we are being real.....the issue is do we actually have guys like we appear to on ethe D-line and the backfield to on the roster somewhere? Is Ayers any good, Cole etc.
  2. As other have mentioned, that is a thin D-line.....If I'm Calgary I'm attacking the right early and often until/if the Bombers show they can stop it..... The game will literally go through Zach....we should know pretty quickly if he is "back" or not.....If he looks like he did in the first few games it's over as he doesn't present the escapability threat....but if he comes back and plays P'OD and on point, and is able to push the ball, we should prevail
  3. Pretty sure the league has and is doing everything in it's power to have Lemon finished...but he is protected by his union and processes that have to play out...sometimes the protections Unions provide seem questionable but it's the process that is required, all indications are based on the leagues stance and that of the independent arbitrator that Lemon is on borrowed time, but he is well within his rights to do what he is doing. Ethics can be questioned but Mtrl. does not have to release or discipline him, similar to Kelly the team must feel he is worth the risk...
  4. Our roster management is at times curious, and probably could be improved...but dang some people are like the Katy Perry song you're hot, then you're cold, you're yes then you're no, you're in then you're out.......... They won't make changes, they made changes, the changes are wrong, the changes are right, its not enough, it's too much, he bad and he's good......... We don't develop guys is a theme, but when we play unknowns it's bad, when a guy with a shiny resume comes on we don't give them a fair chance, but when they get released no one else does either but only we are the bad team for not...... I am not saying we are great in all aspects, or that I understand or agree with every move they make....or heck that I am even remotely correct, but for one reason or another Fayad was not kept and Ogbevoen is getting a shot...maybe he will fall flat, or maybe he is our next Hanson....Heck who on here guessed Hubert would actually look good??
  5. Something more than just BLM is off in Hammy......they just look unorganized, broken willed and beat...something is not responding well at Timmy's Feild
  6. I was rough on Ford after his first game and preseason, but he is rounding into a nice fit. We actually again have put together a pretty darn good secondary. I think once all the dust settles, we may actually have a pretty decent D-line, if we get some better play from our LB's we could have a really strong defence going into the second half of the season.
  7. Tui, must be hurt, he has not been able to go all year so far. He has shown so much potential, it must be a lingering injury keeping him from more than spot duty. I really like the Lucky signing, he is a very high energy guy, I think we lost a lot of that with Hardrick and Baily moving on in that department. I don't love his full skillset as a receiver, but as Booch mentioned he knows what's going on, and don't underestimate his speed, teams will have it in the back of their heads his reputation. Fayad, I get it, he looked good, but not great, we need to be better across the d-line, Willy woke up last game, Mair is about as mobile as Joe Biden, so hopefully Willy keeps up the play.
  8. I thought our o-line and d-line played better....not great but better, our LB's are weak, and I thought or backfield on defence played well. On defence I think we are close..... It was great to see Brady and Strev. playing emotional, high tempo, I think we are missing that this year
  9. Keys for me as many have mentioned is; Strevelor and the game plan he is given.
  10. It was mostly entertaining, but did have a few boring patches. Both young QB's looked decent, made mistakes Dukes has film on him now and both Mtrl. and Sask. game planned him well. Patterson will also get figured out better expect him to look worse by week three, but both showed potential. Coaxie had a baaaad game..... Both Sask. and T.O have better d-lines and way more athletic and better LB's. than us Grant is still good, hope he has a healthy season!
  11. Makes you wonder that all the success we have had and all the next man up....helped create the mess we are in....as an example Buck has been able to plan a certain way consistently...but now we don't have the level of talent we did, and he has appeared to keep trying to plan consistently but all of a sudden it's not working, the next man up can't do it.....and we falter trying the same.....now it's time to see how well he can adapt and change and figure out how to use the actual talent we have and hide the actual weaknesses we have, we do still have playmakers on offence... I get this is a very simplified description, but I believe the root of it is accurate.
  12. IF we decide to move on from Zach...which I would guess is very unlikely, I believe that a few more injuries across the league and a few more difficult games from him a new team, may be the best option. Ther league is very tight on starters, he still has a hell of a resume and I believe we could trade him to a potential suitor in a few weeks should we desire to. I am skeptical anything changes this year though
  13. IMO it's not on or two things...there is no switch this one player, do this one play and we improve situation on offence. My two cents; Lack of run game-did Brady and Buck/Osh get into a disagreement...what did Brady do that prevented him from being ready to start the season..... O-line- have not been good enough....but partly due to lack of a run game and IMO questionably play calling Play calling-we have guys out, guys with certain high level skills...and I get "next man up" but the next man up doesn't have the same skills, why play to the injured guys talents still.....adapt to what you have and can do well Injuries-yes they affected us..I think both physically and mentally QB play...Zach is in a funk....is it prep. is it stubbornness to refuse to even try new guys, is it the talent around him isn't good enough...Is Buck not evolving with the changes Streveler settled in with the same group around him and at least made "some" plays...hell our first passing TD even.. Roster management...this topic has been discussed to death on here but are the guys we have good enough....are some simple too old and slow....and are the best mix of experience and talent being used....
  14. I am going to be abroken record.....a tequila fueld one at that...........our D-line and recivers are BAD 111 Not even close to feilding a good enough roster 0-4 and building.........terrible....
  15. We have NOOOOO d-line pressure We have ZERO passing threat Screw it more tequila
  16. Maybe its the tequila but..............our receivers and d-line are NOT good enough....next man up is great...but c'mon man its next, next man and this sucks!!!!!
  17. At this point....play a 8 man o-line and 7 LB's......honestly maybe some of these guys we are fielding will grow into good players but our receivers and d-line are not getting it done...... The half time passing stats are soooooooooooooooo bad and what 85% have been to Olivera and Demski for a whopping 55ards are you for real!!!!!! Defence how TF are we not pressuring Mair, he is honestly less mobile than Celo with no shoes our d-line is one of the worst I have seen on any team......
  18. Yep.....two pretty pee poor offence's And c'mon Mair runs like Biden getting off a plane man.....how can we not get to him......
  19. Well, I'm on my second beer....sorry no hotdogs, but I'm doing dry rub back ribs and wings (Hooter style hint....lot's of butter) with blue cheese, carrots and celery, and La Cocina's with home made heavy garlic salsa for halftime and will be switching up to traditional Tequila Lime margheritas at kick-off so maybe I won't be so sad with the way they play today due to my "self gratification" of food and drink..........
  20. One thing that stuck out to me is just how good both those teams are at LB, I mean right now the Mtrl LB crew is playing unbelievable.... but T.O is no slouch at LB...... Not to pile on our team, but watching Sanky and Beverette dominate game in and game out as they do really shows how far we have fallen off in the LB core.
  21. Our eyes see concern, the posters with more intimate OL knowledge have ...well some...not naming names.....er.... "Booch" ....😎has voiced concern over and over....and over......, the commentators on TSN voiced concern, Walby voiced some concern, and PFF grades them poorly. It seems every metric has come to the conclusion that we have not been good enough along the O-line.....Would Eli single handedly improve it...does he have a nagging injury? All indications are we are running status Quo regarding the o-line again this week, IF we lose and fall to 0-4 and the o-line play doesn't start looking better.... we have to look at the person-ell, we keep trotting out.....everyones eyes and PFF grading can't all be wrong can they....
  22. I was not expecting much from Schmek or Hubert....but thus far Schmek. may be the most improved from last year and Hubert in a small sample impressed the heck outta me....side not, Wallace has also impressed....we may in the future look back on some really good value draft picks
  23. Honestly the DC is better than last week, (I wish Nichols, Habba and Fox and BO were not injured) but we have 7 on the D-line and considering the injuries it looks pretty good. Hopefully next week we have Nichols and a fully healthy BO. We better figure out a run game and how to chew the clock on offence this week or big play VAJ will have his way with us
  24. Games are won and lost in the trenches, it has been that way for a long time. Its a big reason why a few adds put Mtrl near the top last year, It was the reason we won our first couple Grey Cups and IMO the same reason we lost our last couple. We have had a very good O-line for many years and arguably one of the best D-lines, however for whatever reason we decided that our D-line especially could purely run off of next man up philosophy and got weaker, as it got weaker so did our dominance....coincidence??? Just look last week at the pressure and compete along the line on our defence until Habba and Fox went down. then Ott's offence changed....did they get better?? No we played with a way to thin d-line made up of rotation pieces and rookies. Some guys especially along the o-line we couldn't afford to keep and that is the nature of the beast, but what I don't like is the lack of d-lineman we roster, the illusion of an attitude that it's next man up regardless....look I don't like the guy, but if we brought in Lemon instead of Mtrl. I bet we are defending champs.. Yes we have detrimental injuries this year, but it's the lines where we are losing IMO....true Zach needs to play better, but without a run game this is Zach. Give him a solid run game and watch the o-line look better and he will also, I strongly believe that. Last week was too easy for the opposition, we had only 4 d-lineman that were outta position, tired and inexperienced...that bought Ott just that bit of an edge. Our offence had zero threat of a run game, again giving Ott defence that bit of an edge. Osh and team have taken us to four straight, so they have grace, but "next man up" is not do-able right now....we added a D-lineman, great start we should IMO keep adding. If Brady is out any longer we need to do something to address our lack of run game, JA is a great rotation piece, MCI is too raw. It's not fair to fully evaluate this o-line without establishing a run game and having a back that can block like AH did and Brady is developing into. Is all lost....no but we need players especially along the d-line, we need to roster enough to keep them fresh and we need to establish a run game.
  25. YES.....that play I almost threw my beer.....lol.....That right there is how the season has been, we don't have desire, ambition, or the balls we need....
