That was a pretty sweet play.  I think it was a combination of beautifully designed, executed and timed as well as a little bit of ineptness on the riders behalf.  only a couple of their guys stayed in their designated lanes lol.  Beautiful play

And the TiCats move out of the basement!!

So the BC Lions lose their starting QB, lose 3 out of the last 4 and the one win is against the team that is ranked last, yet somehow they are viewed as the 3rd best team at the moment?

Stamps - Bombers - Esks - Riders (those to could flop atm IMO) - Lions - RedBlacks - Argos - TiCats - Als

I never implied that, some chose to get their panties in a knot and chose to read it that way.  When you do something good and there is a call that goes your way I consider that a lucky break and capitalizing on it, which is a good thing and a normal part of the game and what good teams do.  We did it, they didn't.  By no means do I say that taking capitalizing.  We capitalized on lots of things like some nice interceptions where it was not even so much bad throws, but the D stepping up and winning that ball.  I love when the secondary is aggressive on a ball like that.  I will take any interception, but when they straight up win that ball, that is a player/team playing with confidence, and after a rough loss a week ago it was awesome to see them step up like that.  While the first half was close and they put up a pile of yards, by the end of the game we dominated, even if we trailed in some stats.  We won every phase of that game in the end.  We took advantage of our opportunities, we clearly won special teams, despite being lit up early the D created turnovers (which has been missing for a while, the ball hawks are back!!!), the O started slow but just got better and better as the game progressed, and I would say we won in coaching as a whole.    One thing that I really liked was I felt Nichols took the next step, or a step towards it.  He has been statistically horrible with heat on him, especially on deeper throws, but he stayed calm in this one and either dumped it off clean or made at least a competitive throw.  Loved that.

Bombers have given up 40 big plays.  The next closest is Hamilton at 30.  The high powered O we see is fantastic and all, but the D is just horrendous.  Meanwhile, we have had 23 big plays, only Toronto and Hamilton have less (which is actually surprising and shows that this is a methodical O).  To break it downs some.....
    Big plays surrendered per game:

Note that I am not going to do a breakdown of the special teams rate per game because it is just embarrassing and shocking how bad it stacks up to the rest of the league (we need a new ST coordinator perhaps even worse than a new DC)
The Hall bend but don't break, but actually break D is frustrating to no end.    When the turnovers were rolling in it masked it a bit, but right now those are not coming.

D is the problem though.  The O is alright even if this change would help it.  They need to do something on D to shake things up at the moment.  I am hoping he will contribute well on special teams, which is also struggling.

Let's re-evaluate Montreal's D in a couple of weeks.   Thorpe is an amazing DC, but they did a lot of gutting there and the armor is starting to crack.

Pass rush and Hall do not get along so well.  He runs a ridiculously passive D.  That may have worked well in the day and age where you could get away with more contact, but not so much any more.  It is strange though, what am I missing as the catalyst for what changed in the D for turnovers?  Up until a few games ago the ball hawk term was being used.

Yes, and this move would potentially work in a shuffle to get Thorpe back in.  It would take more than one move, but the point being that Lankford is receiver depth and if they remove him as KR then they likely find a spot for  someone else.  Meanwhile, if you bring a DB in for KR then you probably remove a depth DB.

Did the D play good, or did the riders play 'don't make the big mistake' in the second half?  Hard to truly evaluate things in what was essentially extended garbage time.  I think the D was better, but I also feel they changed modes, so I go with combination.  If the Bombers had the same lead, I expect we would have seen similar happen.  These head to heads if you get a chance to not show everything, you don't.

Barring one freak run the riders run game was really bad, that is a huge plus to repeat.
Harris needs to have more success up the gut so as to open up the passing game over the middle.  The riders are playing a very aggressive D style with a lot of press coverage, so those outside passes are going to have limited success.  Need to combat that with slants/posts, and in order to open that up you need to have success on the ground up the middle.  I think that will be the biggest change, especially if that James fellow is not playing, because he was pretty swallowing in there.  Read on hear that he was on crutches.  Hate to see a player hurt, but it likely improves those runs.

On D, I am not a fan of Hall.  I don't mind the play of the front 7 for the most part, but the secondary strategy leaves a lot to be desired.   Bombers have the number one O, and that is great, but they need it because the secondary sucks.  Only Hamilton gives up more points or yards.  I love a team that can score, and I love shootouts, but it is hard to ride that game in and game out long term.    Some of that was masked because we were seeing turnovers, but that seems to have dropped off.    The riders seemed to stray from their quick hitter game a fair bit, and I am expecting to see more of a return to that this week.  Need to stay aggressive and jump one of those and take it to the house.
