  1. Jones has Arbuckle & Cornelius. He should worry about his team. Jones has always been an ass clown.
  2. Yeah, I remember GM's like Earl Lunsford being well known as cheapskates & treating players like ****. Trouble was, most teams were the same. Hard headed management style who didn't want to pay the players. Even per diems in training camp was incredulously low. The CFL players struck in 1974 as players weren't being paid during training camp & exhibition season.
  3. Yeah, we sure didn't run a professional organization back then like we do now. Cal cut everything & I remember how negative the feelings were about him back then. Poplawski retired because Ranger Insurance needed his full time attendance but releasing Reaves, Hufnagel & Clements made fans upset. Cal never saw a loonie he didn't like. Dewalt who replaced Clements played terribly & was eventually released. How we won the 1988 Grey Cup with Sean Salisbury & Lee Saltz at qb is beyond me.
  4. I never heard that story.
  5. I'd like tio see it here.
  6. CFL contracts aren't guaranteed. Neither are bonuses. Players get cut all the time.
  7. re-signed or resigned?
  8. Nichols had spent 7 or 8 years in the CFL with Edmonton before he got here. He was no rookie. I want to be 25 again but alas... Ain't happening.
  9. LaPo has no idea how to develop a qb. He was a receiver in D3. He's never had to stare down a blitz. Or standing in there while his pocket collapses waiting for a receiver to get open knowing he's going to get killed but does it anyway. He ran routes. LaPo is totally overrated. i expect we'll see it now with Massoli as his qb. He'll have no more excuses left.
  10. That 88 off season was the one where Joe Pop retired, Willard Reaves & Tom Clements were released. That was also the season that Cal put a Coke machine in the locker room & the players had to pay for it which set off a lot of veterans negatively. As well as cementing Cal's reputation of a cheapskate.
  11. One of the things Dustin Nielsen has to learn is being more assertive with Glenn Suitor. To reign him in so he doesn't set the pace of the broadcast saying stupid things or talks too much. Suitor thinks he's the star in the booth when he shouldn't be. I sometimes got the feeling he pushed Nielsen around in a verbal way at times because he's the "veteran" in the booth. I didn't get a sense of chemistry between them like we see with a duo like Jim Nantz & Tony Romo on CBS, for example. Romo may have been the star qb in Dallas but in the booth you can see he respects Nantz & isn't pushy like Suitor is. Suitor comes across as having very little respect for Nielsen. More like, "Hey kid, don't worry. I got this. You just do pbp & I'll do the rest". Nielsen just lets him get away with it. I'd say Brown will have a big say in who he works with.
  12. That's the problem. They won't get rid of them. Police are useless. No one can't tell me that they aren't getting their marching orders from provincial governments. That is a lie. Politicians are interfering in policing.
  13. The leaders of this occupation should be thrown in jail on charges of sedition & treason. But they won't because we're too polite.
  14. You're probably thinking of former Vikings qb Christian Ponder. Wish we'd honour Clements. He put up some great numbers, won a lot of games for us in a Bomber uniform & won a Grey Cup for us in 1984. He was the CFL's MOP in 1987 as a Bomber & a CFL All Star in 1984 & 87. I don't think he's been back to Winnipeg since Crusty Cal pushed him out for Roy Dewalt in 1988.
  15. Pipkin sucked whenever he played in Montreal. I never got the hype for Cornelius last year. He was Elizondo's boy & no one else's. I'm just wondering who else the Bombers could sign right now that's available.
  16. No, he was a good all around player. Just not a good qb. I'd like to see him get lit when he does that reverse pivot to the right to get away from pressure when the pocket collapses. He's been lucky so far but one day...
  17. No, Tommy Pharr's stats as a qb were abysmaL. The Mississippi State grad was signed by the Bombers in 1972 & was Don Jonas backup that season as a rookie. Pharr was switched to DB in 1973 full time but was still the Number 2 qb on the Bombers that season. He contributed the most for the Bombers as a defensive back for 2 seasons. He was also a pass receiver & punt returner. As a Bomber qb, Pharr attempted 36 passes & completed 11 for 216 yards & a 30.6% completion average. He threw one TD & 4 interceptions. He QBR was 21.3. He was a scrambler & liked to take off with the football. He carried the ball 31 times for 244 yards with a 7.9 yard rushing average & 1 touchdown. His longest run was 40 yards. He was also an injury relacement at receiver catching the ball 11 times for 121 yards for an 11.0 yard average per catch & no touchdowns. His kongest reception was 28 yards. As a defensive back, Pharr picked off 6 passes for 131 yards & no touchdowns. He caused 2 fumbles & recovered one for zero yards. He returned 21 punts as a Blue Bomber for 120 yards & a 5.7 yard return average & no touchdowns. His longest punt return was 16 yards back in the day when there was no blocking on punt returns. So, Tommy Pharr was a handy guy to have around but I remember he really struggled when he went in at qb.
  18. That's because a generational team played in Edmonton.
  19. Tommy Pharr a blast from the past.
  20. Well, McGuire sure wasn't the guy.
  21. 17to85 also means he accuracy issues with the long ball.
  22. I agree. He's not as great as Rider fans think he is but he's not as bad as some here make him out to be. His biggest problem is his mouth. He just needs to shut up & play. Not blame his receivers or teammates for his problems.
  23. Who in their ******* right mind targets high school & elementary students?? I swear to God these idiots need to be dealt with. This enraged Karen who spat on that student needs to be charged with assault. And her employer needs to see what kind of ugly person they have in their employ. Some serious jail time & a heavy fine would do her good. You know she'd be wailing in the court room crying for mercy saying she was sorry.
