  1. Should nations go billions of dollars into debt to fund the Summer Olympics? Divert money into facilities that could be used for infrastructure, healthcare & education instead of elite international athletes? Is it okay to geo politicize the Olympics? Like I said, up to me the Olympics would cease to be forever.
  2. No interest in these games. Totally selfish move by the IOC & completely irresponsible to hold them. Don't plan on watching even a minute.
  3. Surprised the Bombers haven't issued a statement acknowledging the passing of former assistant coach Ellis Rainsberger on July 17th. He was the Bombers OC under Ray Jauch from 1978-82 which coincided with the most successful years that Dieter Brock had as a qb with the Bombers. Under Rainsberger, Brock became a prolific pocket passer able to see the whole field rather than primarily a sprint out left & right quarterback that he was under HC Bud Riley & just concentrating on seeing half the field. With Rainsberger as his coach over the next 5 seasons, Brock would throw for 19,480 yards. He attempted 2,463 paases & completed 1,460. He threw 126 TD passes & 72 interceptions. The Bombers reached the Western Semi Final in 1978 & 81 as well as the Western Final in 1980 & 82. Under Rainsberger's tutelage, Brock was a CFL Western Division All Star in 1980, 81 & 82 as well CFL All Canadian QB in 1980 & 81. He would also win back to back CFL Most Outstanding Player Awards in 1980 & 81. After he left the Bombers, Rainsberger became an assistant coach with the Denver Gold in 1983 & then Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Maulers both of the USFL. He returned to the CFL in 1986 to the end of the 1988 season where he coached the OL with the Toronto Argonauts. He retired following the 2007 season after 3 years with the Miami Dolphins as a scout. Rainsberger was 88 years of age. RIP Ellis Rainsberger. Those years you spent coaching Dieter Brock was magical. https://www.cflaa.ca/cfl-alumnus-ellis-rainsberger-passes/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cfl-alumnus-ellis-rainsberger-passes
  4. Calgary Morning Television News Anchor: "And here we have a live shot of the Stampede Grounds at this morning's Premier's Stampede Breakfast. We see Jason Kenney being attacked by 2 Covid 19 Delta viruses but it doesn't appear to be slowing him down... as he says the Pandemic is over. Jason Kenney always going with the science"
  5. Some people on social media re making this out to be a bigger deal than it is. Valerie Bertinelli, the widow of Eddie Van Halen described Clapton today as, "Once a ****, always a ****". He is being criticized by social media types but I doubt he cares. Clapton is 76 years of age & has physical ailments that affect his ability to play guitar. He said he had a bad reaction to the AZ vaccine & couldn't feel his hands for 2 weeks. So, he doesn't think it's right to exclude unvaccinated fans from his concerts so he's decided to cancel any show that won't let them attend. Clapton's concert schedule before Covid was severely curtailed. Gone are the months or years long world tours. He is more of a nostalgic act now. A few concerts here & there. Fans want to hear the old tunes & not any new ones. Young music fans have never heard of him. He's becoming irrelevant & so is his opinion. It's also his decision to not play to just the vaccinated. Clapton's career is like a private business & in reality he is a private contractor. He doesn't need the money or the adulation. I don't agree with him as he is wrong but really, who cares what he thinks?
  6. Drew Willy would have loved playing behind the OL that Nichols had. He might still be playing. Nichols got hurt but the guys in front worked their asses off to protect him. Nichos started holding onto the ball too long missing opportunities to throw the ball. Every qb no matter how good his line is will take shots. Matty became scared. Willy had PTSD. Like the Bomber pilots in WWII flying low level daylight precision bombing over Germany at 9,000 feet instead of 19,000. There was never any end to it. They had to show "maximum effort". No relief crews. Just bombing & nearly being killed every mission. They became paralyzed with fear. Now, flying bombing missions is a thousand times more dangerous & stressful but it's the same thing. Willy was seeing guys coming at him in his sleep. Maybe even sensing in the pocket when they weren't actually there. Playing behind a horrible OL destroyed his career. He had no chance. We'll never know how good he may have become. Nichols had it very good & he stll struggled. He had some hellacious injuries so I can see how being hit hard affects him. My understanding is that his OL in Ottawa is below average so we'll see how long he lasts.
  7. He's probably given orders for it to happen in his absence. If it does, the cops better stop it or I can se angry fans confronting these morons. There'll be a lot more Bomber fans so it won't be pretty. Imagine being 'that guy"??
  8. Maybe I'm a cold person but c'est la vie. I'm so tired of these people. He made his choice. I don't feel sorry for him but I do for his family. Total & complete selfishness on his part.
  9. Some anti vaxer & his followers are planning on blocking the streets leading to IG Field before the game on August 5th. If they are allowed to do that (as in the cops do nothing to prevent it), I think they'll find out pretty fast that it was a very bad idea.
  10. That was the best part. Watching Macciocia's & Rick Campbell's reaction as Milt scored.
  11. Guess O'Shea will have to come clean with injuries now. As a fan, I'm happy about that.
  12. Was that campaign under Mark Cohon? It was brilliant.
  13. Bought our house in 2001. Paid off in 5 years
  14. As a slot, Wolitarski wouls certainly see the ball more & be an impact player.
  15. The Toronto centre media in this country claims we all love the Blue Jays & Raptors. They think we even love the Leafs ahead of our own NHL teams. Well .... them. Never in a million years will I ever like or cheer for any pro sports team from Toronto. For reasons like this.
  16. I retired June 30th as a school bus driver.
  17. Well Noeller, our adopted province has really gone down the toilet bowl the past 28 months with Jason Kenney as Premier. Alberta ia beautiful place to live but politically it's become ugly. I don't know what to think anymore. The pandemic has brought out the worst in everybody & shown how weak & ineffectual Jason Kenney is as our Premier. Disappointed as an out of province fan I can't buy tickets as I'm double vaxxed. I have no idea what "being worked on" means.... Our dumbass Premier says AB won't issue domestic passports to show proof of vaccinations & the anti vaxxers supporters here cheer wildly. Thye vast majority of Albertans vaccinated would support something to show they're vaxxed but that ain't happening. I'm sure hoping that Albertans remember this clusterfuck of a government & vote Kenney out in less than 2 years.
  18. I think the Roman Empire was far worse & far more brutal than the British Empire The slave uprising led by a slave himself named Spartacus. Historians say that Spartacus was killed at The Battle Of Silarius River where he & his forces made their last stand vs six Roman Legions made up of 48,000 soldiers commanded by Marcus Lucinius Crassus. After the battle where Spartacus' force was annihalated, the over 6,000 survivors were crucified & left to rot on their crosses along the Appian Way from Capua to Rome as a warning to prevent & strongly dissuade any further uprising again. For 500 years, Rome ruled by force. Rome ruled by fear. Rome ruled by intimidation. If I had a choice, I'd much rather live under British rule than Roman tyranny.
