  1. That stuff happens. Some thing similar happened with kerry joseph. He had last played saftey as well. But those cases are rare. Also, our team is run differently. Being as we are a play off team our existing player talent isnt an issue (in general) and mos is a players coach. It isnt easy to lose your job as a vet on this team. Thorpe easily out played a couple of our wrs, but was the one who got sent packing. Air lifts arent as common as they used to be. In part because the general talent level of the league is higher then it was 20 years ago. And also (in part because of that fact) teams dont fall out of contention nearly as early as they used to. So wide sweeping desperation moves arent common. Rb is also maybe the most plug and play position. Not soo much is demanded of RB as it once was. In terms of number of touches any way. And it has the highest talent level + availability. You cant just dig up a DB with excellent coverage skills. But you can dig up a RB who can make the first guy miss / or break the tackle fairly easily. It also has to do with the ease of getting a RB the ball. A wr has to run a good pattern, beat coverage, get a good pass then catch it. A rb gets handed the rock.
  2. The gap between the median and average is sad. And so is the amount of people under 20k. Iirc players get a housing stipend, or housing food etc. Its not the life one would associate with a pro athlete. But its not some one working 3 part time min wage jobs trying to make ends meat. I would like to see them make more, I think we all would. The dollar conversion is tough too. Paying out in USD could cause serious trouble in tough times. And bumping pay with out increasing league revenue could be just as dangerous. Really have to hope for the league to grow. Realistically, a strong turn around for the argos franchise would go a long long ways in the next TV deal. Which will be a big difference maker. The story of guys from AFL/AFL2 especially from the PR down there (back in the day) is scary. Living off next to nothing, PB sandwiches, full time work borrowing money to go to try outs and open camps.
  3. does that count against the cap? If you pay over the 750. average pay isnt a good tool though. Id bet more then a weeks pay far more then half the population makes far less then that average. I would like to see more money for Pr guys though. And for players in general. The sub star to lower tier stars (randell. mo etc) dont make nearly enough for the toll taken on their bodies for playing.
  4. Is it still the case that teams have the right to pay PR guys the same as if they were on the roster? Used to happen a whole lot. Not sure how it works or if it does at all with the cap.

    UFC

thats the truth. especially coming off such a long lay off. Makes me a lil nervous for GSP. i really really really dont want to see him lose to bisping. His cardio is generally excellent, but being out of the ring that long is a huge detriment.
  6. blaszko is also a good NI prospect. imo wolitarsky is a closer to productive prospect with higher up side. Givens is also a good prospect, but not an NI. The primary reason i would like a 2 starting ni wrs is to get poop back starting.
  7. thanks, would that be tickets sold or at the stadium?
  8. did any one hear the attendance / tickets sold for the game?

Not far off mcg and a few other big draws in the ufc. Though i would mainly put that on excitement and not having fought in like 2.5 years. His cardio from kick boxing is dramatically stronger then that.

Hate friday/sunday ufc cards. Gokhan saki was fun to watch. Wonder how high he will go. Essentially no grappling game, cant see him against dc or if rumble comes back. Gus could be a fun match up. Though i imagine they will feed him some low rated cans for a while.
  11. Id love to see coates and jfg start, wolitarsky back em up. That way we could go back to starting poop and rotating jake.
  12. ya mo was close for me again. He could be a star every game.
  13. 1 Darvin adams. 7-195 1 td. and narrowly missed another deep ball when he had 3 steps on his db. Made the big plays. and the short ones. Elite wr. 2 Harris/flanders. 215 yards combined 2 tds. Tons of first downs and tons of time killed. They really mashed the ott defense and changed the pace of the game forcing them to slow the blitzes. 3 Nichols. 23/34 2 tds. 1 freak, freak pick. Finally got the closer in controlled the game and made the weather look trivial. hh Lots of potential here. Jeffcoat holding up the rb, forcing the fumble and recovering it. Davis coming in and leading the blocking for flanders. But im going with darvin adams again. He gets tackled, both arms wrapped up before the ball arrives. Gets the flag. But still makes a sick catch. It wasnt needed, just icing on the cake. Like the whole game was.
  14. that doesnt include scratches but ya.
  15. Thank you ollie williams.
  16. Even if he stays on the IR his bonus counts towards the cap in atleast one year of his deal. Even then I dont know i buy that chris jones would waste money on a move like that. but thats just my opinion.
  17. never enough guys who can stretch the field imo
  18. 200-300k. 100k cheaper then durant. Even if he makes no more then 200k this year, that 200k was long gone in the off season. With kienan lefrance back (and if owens comes back) on the roster it only goes up. http://3downnation.com/2017/01/25/kevin-glenn-contract-relative-bargain-for-riders/
  19. yeah hope not i like this commish would hate for the crieders to have to fire a 2nd commish...
  20. Who wants to bet the riders get punished between now and after the season for violating the cap?
  21. noooo dont hype him! That will just ensure he gets cut! When i see a wr between 5'10 and 6'1 or so and with a good but not crazy 40 in the NFL for a while I have high expectations of their skill/talent levels. You know a guy with average size and good-average (4.40) speed has had to show some thing special to get to the nfl and stick that long.
  22. ya. would have to go back to the land before time if it did happen lol. Maybe that means we are due! The fish have allways been an incredible organization, from day 1 too. Hal lanier was a great hire and really set the tone for high expectations. I think it was keith law i saw the other day had said on social media that he thinks that vlady and bo are 2 of the 5 best hitting prospects in baseball atm, and that vladdy is the best in a generation. Which is insane. But with his age and given the fact he moved up after he cooled off and actually hit even better at High A i guess its possible.
  23. I can imagine they kept him around rehabbing for soo long if that was the case. But any thing is possible i guess.
  24. iirc 2 of the jays minor league teams won titles this year. (one was a tie between two divisions due to the hurricane) Farm system is pretty deep atm, built some good winners down there. The fish are a model sports organization though, i hope the titles rub off on the blue.
  25. hate hate hate hate
