CFL Considering Resurrecting "Regional Player Protection"
I agree. I think it would push the teams to develop the grassroots much more. maybe it should be a team option though and cost a draft pick. But I like the idea.

IIRC don't they have some intense QB protection rules in place in the aaf? Limiting blitzing stuff I think. Not sure though. A direct pipeline like that could mean a LOT to any of the startup leagues. very much so imo. Doesnt Oakland move to vegas next year? Lots of interesting markets abound that would have a chance IMO. SD, oakland, san antonio, st.louis, OKC, memphis, omaha, Albuquerque, mexico city, Maybe even a shot across the bow in a canadian city. The problem I see is that the aafl seems like a 3rd tier pro league at best. And the last thing second-tier cities want is just that. If the XFL pushed it like they did originally or like the old world league, and AFL (pre merger) did in those markets they would have some thing. But the XFL is going to try and compete with the NFL in strong NFL markets, and the AAFLs biggest surprise is that it exists (for now).

The MBB All-Time Blue Bomber team: Special Teams Player
Same. The offsides play was lame, but brilliant at the same time. Id give an honorable mention to mike sellers. 2 years, incredible blocking as an up back and constantly making the tackle downfield. His blocking was phenomenal. He was kind of a two way teams guy, a mix of rogers and cvetkovic. Give me sellers as an upback, cvety as a holder, miller to be the ham n egger, and rod hill to make some big plays.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Oh yeah lots of leagues have attempted the US. I just dont think any have chosen markets well.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
I think doing it in the EU with out any actual market and soo far away from the teams and league was a poor idea. Id a done in in smaller cities around existing teams, the san antonios etc. You push away developmental guys who dont want to go to the EU, or cant. just magnifies soo many of the difficulties of being a football person/family.

The NFLE was a pretty awful idea imo, but they sure found a fan base for football in germany.

The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Centre
Yeah that switch to C era was past his best years and we switched a bunch of guys around trying to find that reliable snap to shotgun.

Alliance of American Football
haha probably. I feel like it could collapse at any time, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow were in camp next year to start another season. Just burning through empty promises or venture capital. I like that these guys are getting a chance to play, I'm a big believer in leagues like circulating talent and being good for everyone. I just wish the guys got paid, but not more then the CFLers.

Alliance of American Football
Have they paid any of their players yet?

Alliance of American Football
Has this league folded yet?

The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Centre
Mo played mostly at guard, though iirc he played a bit of time at nearly each position. Had some great time here though. Id toss in Dave vankoughnett. Not the best OL ever, but always steady and good. 11 years here started every game for a stretch of 7 or 8 years. Bonks the guy though.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
I could see them moving back the guaranteed veteran contract date though. It would be a huge leap to make them all guaranteed the entire year.

He was, I cant imagine mitch zalnasky trying to say that name.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
To me, this doesnt jyve with the league forcing the als to cut manziel. The league forcing this makes a lot of sense to me, its hard to see the als cutting him now on their own. Either way, im glad he is gone and not coming back.

Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
I feel like in the harris era weve seen a bunch of high upside young RBs come in and play very well in camp but harris just leaves them with virtually no chance.

Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
probably got tired of not getting paid.

Free Agent Frenzy
Yeah not top 5 by any means. Maybe at the back end of the top 10 NA FAs. maybe.

QB situation Winnipeg
this is true. but what happened to us is the rarest of occurrences in sports. Its possible someone steps up from one of those other teams but its a tough spot for them.

The MBB All-Time Blue Bomber team: (C) Dual Threat Returners
I feel like blink, flight87, and stokes are the 3 best. Stokes the biggest threat to score, but the biggest boom or bust guy too. Blink was the most consistent to get extra yards, and AJ3 was the best all-round return man. If aj3 would have had a career the length of blinks up here, he might be one of the best multi threats ever.

QB situation Winnipeg
I think only us and toronto are positioned to be OK if the starting qb misses any real time. Every else is pooched if they lose their starter for a fist full of weeks.
-
QB situation Winnipeg
He has been in the league for 6 years that doesnt mean he has had much of an opportunity for the past 6 years.
-
QB situation Winnipeg
I dont know that its that bad. I feel like atleast 1 guy is gonna emerge from the als, argos, maybe RBs or riders that is at the masoli level. Afl lacked qb talent. The league has some good young arms with a chance to actually start and play now. Gonna suck for a bit for those teams, but long term its great for the league.

The MBB All-Time Blue Bomber team: (A) Punt Returners
came back through 2 or 3 catastrophic knee injuries and still looked dangerous. If his body held up in the nfl he would have had a terrific career down south. Too bad. Kinda sad the state of our returners in the last 30 years or so.
