Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

bruce johnson. great point as well. Thus far weve done a good job in finding new talent. Guys like JSK, poop, jeffcoat etc. That said under previous regimes we would have been all over a couple guys that would have helped us a great deal this year even if we got a fine next year. Thats our team though. The winnipeg blue boy scouts. -

Its almost like jones doesnt even pretend to care about the sms. Like he just keeps spending and spending till the league will crack down on him. hmmm. We have been tight to the cap all year. Hense minimal off season splash moves. Including drastically reducing OUR qb cost by cutting glenn just before FA. Member? We picked up some teams guys mostly and depend on our rookie scouting. We didnt spend like drunken sailors. Hardrick was hurt the previous week. The same game bond was hurt. Both were day to day. Hardrick was not good to go, bond was. Sure it does. Fans league wide expect better of management groups from the teams. Which team has been infracted by the league for cap abuse in the last few years? And who has been spending like mad with no purging and has head and shoulders more players then any other team in the league? -

Bodies out side of the 46 man roster; riders 41 bombers 19 lions 16 esks 34 (that front 7 has been ravaged all year.) stamps 29. cats 31 argos 31 Rbs 23 Als 20 The only team even close, edm, features a ton of guys from the first half of the season. week 3, 4 , 5 etc. As you would expect having started 2 rookie NI on defense, and not highly drafted guys in particular. -

I do not think fans from every team point fingers at other teams. In fact the only team in the last few years I think most fans see shorting the system are the riders. Probably largely due to taxes. Americans are not used to the taxation rate up here. They hear 150k, pay taxes here and in the US take home half that and wish they took home 150k. That type of thing used to be extremely common. But with the demands of a modern day athlete its not nearly as popular. Now a days such a thing is like having a "dealership" job while playing at USC. At a dealership that happens to be owned by a USC booster. Idr the last impact player the bombers lost to cfl FA that we would have preferred to have back? More we cut guys the fan base wish we didnt. Even tony burnette who was well received and a great teams guy didnt show well as a starter. JSK has been drastically better on D and mini knox as good on teams. We have let go of guys and made room to get the pieces we have. Weve restructured contracts to make room. Montreal had a massive cut back just to get under the cap this year. TO cut lose a bunch of guys last year. Point is, they subtract in order to add. While we see the riders continue to add with out a purge (since dressler and smith) The drop from durant to glenn even if it saved 200k. Even if they saved 500k in qbing, the massive amount of bodies, + guys like carter, dennis, lefrance, and owens ate that up with ease. Add a full TC worth of bodies, guys like trent richardson, muamba, MoB, and guys back from the NFL and you dont even need to consider jones' sorted past to smell the stink of fkery. -

As shown, the difference in your starter is at most 1 player. And possible far far less. Remember vince young? what he was paid while there still counts. Dont expect he came playing for free. Also as i showed, even if you have 1 stars worth of extra cap space created from cheaper then average QBing, you have an extra 22 players on your roster! A frequent and flagrant breaker of roster rules such as jones face a reverse onus. Until he shows for an extended period of time that he can conduct him self with in the rules of the league he is a cheater. Duron carter, dennis, chad owens. That is a metric ton of money. I would bet thats with in a min contract of nichols salary. We went into the off season not expecting to sign a vet qb to back up due to price. fevers market fell low enough for us to sign him. Is vernon adams and brandon bridge drastically cheaper then davis and fever? I very much doubt it. -

Current roster shows 8 guys on the 1 game injured list. 17 guys on the 6 game, who only do not count against the cap for 6 games. A quick look shows guys put on late in the season. Added week 20, not gonna have 6 weeks to qualify eh? if they remain on the list for 6 games. 16 guys on the PR. (would getzlaf or thorpe sit on the PR for the pr base pay? I would think not. especially not thorpe) Thats 41 guys NOT on the active or inactive roster. Essentially a full TC size roster. The bombers who have suffered a massive rash of injuries the last few weeks have 2 guys on the 1 game, 2 guys on the 6 game and 15 on the PR. For 19 players off the main roster. Less then half what the riders have. Signing bonuses even for a guy on the 6 game still counts the year of signing as well. -

Glenn with incentives is 300k. Base was 200ish k. How much did he pay the ni rb starter of the future in the off season? 150k? Chad owens? etc. Even if glenn missed his performance bonuses, and was say 175k, the other massive amounts of cash he threw around blew through that gap long long long ago. Do you believe trent richardson came up here after a heafty nfl rookie contract for peanuts? -

Those last drives are all hurry up. Its not lapo orchestrating those. Matter of fact, by far the best of our offense is hurry up with plays called by nichols. All offensive actions are not because of the OC. insanely talented players making out of this world plays for instance. As well as the above mentioned. Also the highest field goal attempts, 2nd lowest 1st down average yards, mtl is the only team with less possessions. Thats the fun of statistics. When you look at it, our offense is mostly middle of the pack with a few drastic off middle outliers in both directions. What it all points to is explosion plays. We feast on game breaking long scores by big time talent like adams and dressler. When we dont get those, we tend to starve and kick a lot of field goals. -
Week 20: Bombers @ Stamps "Week Of" Thread

No kidding eh? Every one is game time decision till the last minute. Look at the huff about last weeks game roster. They listed him no 2 despite glenn coming in for him last season too. Both guys have some strong similarities. The big differences being fever is a more polished runner, and has more league experience. While davis has a heavy lack of experience, and a much better arm. I expect they will play to win, and if it gets ugly itll turn into an over glorified pre season game. Tbh if they arent willing to start him in this game Idk why they would bring him back after it. Never been a big fan of the guy, but you know what you have in fever might as well be sure what davis is and know if you have to cut your losses in the off season. Fever is a guy who can be given a limited play book, a few special plays and run the short yardage passes. -

Really both guys would be a lot better off with a heavy mix of veer/spread option type stuff. Limit decisions to few and easy ones, move them away from the rush, get the ball into the hands of some one to make a play as quick and easy as possible or make it them self. -
Ya normand had a pretty darn good catch. Coates is a rich mans JFG. Id love to see him get a real shot at starting next year. Too soon people forget the likes of kamau incompleterson, wayne mcdropcity, and good ole hands of stone brock ralph. Once i started a whole torrent of hardly get open, drop the easiest passes types came to mind. Some of chris brazzells drops truly blew my mind.

It was talked about in chat a bunch we need to see some shovel pass and pa boots. Option offense stuff too. Id like to see couture get a start. Rest bond/hardrick for the play offs. Cant say if spooner is ready, but would love to see him draw in as well to reward his loyalty declining the BC pick from the PR. -
Not musical. Im a big fan of JRE, but this one went full wacko pretty fast. It seems tom delonge is bad %^&$ crazy.

Should this regime be on the hot seat?
wbbfan replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Lapo deep balls tend to come on 2nd and short or first down past our 35. We dont really stretch the field down field, we take shots. We stretch the field side line to side line then hope the D is spread thin when we take the deep shot. The offense has, but the OL has been as well. And Harris. This style of play has brought us back to respectability, but short of a world beating D I dont think we can be perennial contenders with it. When ricky ray ran a similar offense they used crossing routes to bust seems for big plays, and a lot of rub routes which we dont. Dressler cant stay healthy, in the way we use him. But darvin adams cant stay healthy either. And he isnt run over the middle and literally running the ball like dressler either. Denny has been a disappointment this year. Though his nose for the end zone hints he still has some thing left. Again look at our use of depth wrs. We spread the ball and they get a few short passes but nothing like our no1 gets. We could have an allstar group of wrs top the bottom, hands down the best in the league and it wouldnt matter if we didnt give them good looks to make plays on.
