QFT, one can not forget that we lost Westerman (our best rush end) Mo (Our DPOTY) Bond (maybe our best ol) Adams (our best wr) and who knows who all may have played at less then full strength. Its bloody hard to lose 4 of your very best and over come that. Adams stretching the field opened up soo much in our offense. With westerman we could carry an extra DI, or an IMP mlber, bond plays an 'easier' position on the line but is our biggest miss match, and Mo could be our MoP candidate every single year. The best sam in the league.

Should this regime be on the hot seat?

In general better play calling and coaches decision making. Edm didnt even coach that much better then us, we did it that poorly. I wouldnt go THAT far... But that tsn gimmick of maggie the monkey doing NHL picks but with plays may have. -

you mean the people who didnt think the game was over with 9 + minutes to go in the 3rd? Sadly cant really hedge out the band wagon fans. Those are allways the ones most crazed following a let down. The bones of the team are no doubt good. Its going to be a challenge for walters and co to improve this team and stay under the salary cap for next year. A couple pieces would have been the difference between going to calgary and going golfing. We draft well, and find good young talent each year. Imagine if geoff gray comes north? -
Its been more up and down, and more the back field then that. JSK has been very very good at Lber. Wild was down, then mo went down. The DL with poop and nevis has been exceptional. We havent had consistent performance from the dbs. Last year, and in camp/pre season this year it seemed like we couldnt miss on a DB prospect. We went younger, and got worse. System is some of that. I dont think any one has issue with randle or heath in general. Fogg hasnt been the same since cooling off 2/3s of the way through last year. By position we are up in the air at worst with 2 db spots and 1 lber.(sam if mo doesnt recover in time or at all) We went from a low blitz usage, zone/match zone team that dropped all but 4 or 5 guys, and some times sent a DE back and only rushed 3-4, to a team sending 6 and 7 but with out great pressure. Mos' involvement in the D doesnt mesh with halls system. Tackling gets bad for a lot of reasons. Trying to make a highlight reel hit and selling out, being worn out, being out of position etc. Its also a preparedness thing. Poorer tackling is going to happen when you cant have hard full contact practices. More so now and moving forward you need guys who come in with a rep as a guy who will wrap and tackle. You wont be able to hammer it into guys and make them good tacklers. I look at the ex bomber DBs in the league and its hard to imagine thats again a hole for us. I wish frederick was kept, and bruce johnson too.

rabble rabble rabble -
That last part is the truth. The good players on the team are gonna lose sleep over this for a long time.
-
Played well enough to win. thats for sure. his pressure was great all night. corney too. against any other qb those guys combine for 5 or 6 sacks.
-
Bad play calls, bad tackling, poor execution. Edm took advantage. They beat us fair and square. This is the type of loss that you lose sleep over.
-
We had a couple plays with good tackling. But over all tackling was very poor. You cant play bend but dont break D, and tackle poorly.
-
The time to be aggressive would have been on the 2nd down. The fake punt call was HOORRRIIBBBLLLEEEE. A fake has gotta lead to a power shift in yardage or points. If it doesnt, you just kick. Abandoning the run was pretty horrible in its own right. But you cant compare to that fake. We got out play called in all aspects.

1 Harris. We forgot about him. But he played like a man possessed. The whole time. 2 Dressler. Same thing, big plays every time we needed em. 3 Coates. Caught every thing thrown his way, and 2 big plays when the game was still close. HH, Goes to the fans. Stuck it out, still loud late in the game down a bunch. they gave all the energy and lift. Down 2 tds with less then 5 left still made a ton of noise.

GDT West Semi Edition: Do It For Hewie The Moose

Listening to hall on the pregame show is mind numbing. They interview the MOEs gm, brown is really ripping him for his teams lack of humility man that was good. Then brock says hes soo proud of his team for not using the injuries as an excuse, so he then goes on to complain about how it limited them and how they called guys and started em the same week. Mirroring some excuse making from maas' presser. Man I dont like these guys. All they need to do is trade reily for BLM, get duron carter and they have all the biggest @$$s in the league. -
Bad traction is good for the short passing game tho. Thatd be like 3 deep cover guys for free. Harris isnt a sprinter either. He strikes me more as a mudder. He runs hard, pushed the pile and fights for yardage.

If momentum doesnt exist game to game, calgary would have like 8 GCs in the last 10 years. Home field isnt allways an advantage. The first year or two of our stadium for example. The noise certainly is an advantage. Weve seen flat starts from the bombers. Weve also seen when we get stuck in lulls. A home crowd can affect that too. NOT having the play off buy week is huge, then home field is big as well.

Should this regime be on the hot seat?
wbbfan replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He doesnt, the difference of allen post 40 and pre is pretty tremendous. He had a few really great passing years, but over all he was very much a dual threat master of none. The rose colored glasses of nostalgia have been painting the mac attack, allen and others as better then they were. Especially because they had their best passing years in their 40s. QFT. And if they allow it to continue at this rate, we will see it get worse. Only a matter of time till you have a play call for a wr to draw the foul and flop with the intent of a challenge if you dont get the call. Spend more effort protecting prone players from cheap shots and less making pass pro touch football. Drives me F%$#ing nuts. And i dont have far to go. -
time for some UN Finished Business!

Wouldnt say that. Maybe floyd brought out the worst in mcg though. I have a low tolerance for out side the octagon shenanigans. But it only gets worse and worse.

Watched The Void. A horror movie that draws heavy inspiration from HP lovecraft, hellraiser, and event horizon. Its a good watch if you are into the genre.

Should this regime be on the hot seat?

BBDB isnt like some old scheme. Pre argos GC run, who ran it in the cfl? It may well be garbage (it sure isnt strong) but it certainly isnt out dated. Defending the first down yardage on 2nd down can be done in a shell as well. It can be done, if it can be gotten away with idk. Certainly you can play more aggressive with coverage then we do, every one else in the league does. Couple dbs? heath, randle alexander etc not an issue imo. I think our guys can run any system we want pretty much. Maybe we will need to look at an experience sam in the off season to insure against Mo possibly being done. -

The last fist full of weeks the front 7 has certainly been aggressive. Though we dont have that pass rushing Lber. Now that is an out dated role in the cfl. Loffler is sure aggressive enough, and the dbs jumping balls. I hope hope HOPE they revert the PI. Or atleast dial it back a notch or three. Allow football to be a contact sport down field, and make physically aggressive DB play viable. -

Damon allen? He had a whole lot of meh passing years as well. I think at best he could be a nealon greene / kerry joseph / micahel bishop type/quality. Though he doesnt have the raw tools of bishop or joseph in his arm or greene in his legs. -

Idk about out dated. It might even be the right system for right now. With the current state of PI in the league, playing tight man coverage is liable to just get you a TON of flags. The basic bend but dont break / match zone / zone blitz scheme might be the way to go. Im a big believer that aggressive football is good football. But you cant play aggressive coverage right now. Im also of the thought that no matter who we had at DC up to current under mos, we would run BBDB coverage. Blitzing, alignment, gap assignments, DL Techs etc would change but not the basis of the D. But as weve seen mos get more involved in the D this year weve seen those things infringed upon. Weve seen more complicated zones, blitzs, and more un leashing of our DL. The biggest example I can think of this is our using dbs in blitzs. That said, given the choice of cover 0 or a BBDB type defense that relies on the dl to get pressure, id rather see cover 0. -

Here is an interesting bit of food for thought. Bend but dont break systems rely heavily on tackling, and on the range of a MLBer. If we replaced hurl with a better then league average starter quality imp mlb, and played them in the appropriate role of a BBDB mlber, would that improve the D more or less then firing hall? A mlber that could cover more ground, do a better job filling the gaps and stopping the run, would also also loffler to play deeper. More of a traditional saftey less of a back of the box LBer. Hall makes good adjustments, But the team can start out flat under him. Weve run with low depth at DB, hamstrung him with poor lbing, and fought the poop+nevis combo up the middle for a long time. (mostly due to ratio issues) On the other hand our dbs would force a lot more incomplete passes with tighter coverage. More effective blitzs, and better use of personnel would help a good bit too. -
Yeah if he is 100% that is fantastic. The nature of his hand injury id worry more about rust, which isnt as big an issue at qb.
