I think thats called kevin glenn syndrome .
-
Hes at the back end of those groups. But imo had less to work with on offense then most of those guys. I do consider him to be in the top tier for sure though. Its a balance of personal dominance, and surrounding pieces. If ray was on those loaded als teams, or the great schmoes teams I think you get the same out come and production. If hank was on em, those teams do worse.
-
I dont think he is close to the likes of moon, ac, flutie or ray. As far as greats go he could slot in with mcmanus, damon allen, etc imo.
-
Yeah id tend to side with you. Maybe hes as good as a none elite QB gets. Its that edge of greatness. Like harris again. I dont factor wins into qb stats. Because you cant look back and see a team win, and its football not baseball. You never have 1 guy against the other team so 1 guy doesnt win, even on one side of the ball. 1 guy choking does factor into it though imo. I can see why people would call him elite. Hes like harris with more wins. But both are sub elite to me.
-
If we did that, we would have 4 teams from the current west in the play offs. Same as it will be under the current rules. The only difference it would make is that the cross over team would host the other division final/semi. And it would hurt content in the east. Which would heavily hurt the leagues support from TSN. So im not in favor of 1 division.

Ya, and late in games. But no question he had a few seasons of elite production level. And unlike harris now, his teams made the play offs a lot. Course he was on drastically better teams. I dont fault any one for considering him elite at times. If any thing AC and ray were elite of elites. 2 of the top 4 or 5 qbs in history imop. If they werent in the league at all hank would have been the best QB for a whole bunch of years.
-
Yeah that makes sense. Though im a member of the hank haters. Thats gotta be about as good as it gets. Personally, Id take a either ray or calvillo over hank any day of the week. Even at hanks best and averaged out ray + AC. Not even close.

Just the name makes me nauseous. Hey, the offensive linemen are the biggest guys on the field, they’re bigger than everybody else, and that’s what makes them the biggest guys on the field.
-
Thats gold! He has a few good football videos like this.

Im sorry, Id just like to thank you, and god for helping me to get better. Im just gonna go out there, do my best and the rest will take care of it self.

Physical tools are allways the rage with prospect QBs. But it doesnt matter what tool set you have or how good it is if you cant play the position mentally. Throw on top of that running hurry up offenses and at times or even full time calling plays and its an insane positional demand. I dont follow the nfl any more. But to follow that line of questioning I would look back through his era at QBs they have missed the chance to draft. Still have to consider that some guys are just dark horses. And even though you may be a great coach, on the line of a "whisperer", that doesnt mean you are a scout and able to pro rate what a college guy will be able to do in the pros. We brought in and ran out a bunch of dud OLs with wiley. Who I think every one can agree is in that top tier of positional coach. On top of that, you can have a guy with smarts, tool set, drafted by a great scout, under a great coach, but have a severe personality conflict, or guy who isnt very coachable. Its a ton of variables in developing and bringing in talent. Stuff like this may be why our organization has been running through young prospect QBs at a break neck pace.

This is a big point. Personally I have trouble remembering a time when the league had 3 what i would call elite QBs. I certainly dont remember a time that had more then that. But I think you gotta set the break point high, and based on individual performance. I think if you have to question or debate if a QB is elite, they almost certainly arent. No argument over ACs run as an elite qb etc.

This SHOULD be a statement game for us on all sides of the ball. But ive got this admiral ackbarr feeling pretty bad. Yeah its game day, gotta leave it all on the field.

the 1/3rd mark. 7 passers are on track to pass 5k yards. Its early, and the new PI era has conflated things. Other fun on track fors, lulay on track for 6600 passing yards in 18 games of this production. harris on track for 36 tds 9ints, 5500 yards and 3 wins. Harris on track for 849 rushing with 120 catches for 954 yards! How many sacks is victor butler on track for, and how many was he on track for at the 1/6th point? Can we do better? 4th best passer in a 9 team league. Even if nichols steps up and cements him self into the elite tier, I dont think that gets us in the play offs in the west this year. Cross over hype.
-
Reily and blm are still the elite of the league. Hes still 6th in passing yards and 4th in passing tds. He still puts up some awful halfs of production. But he has certainly moved up in the 2nd tier of qbs. Lulay is on the rise, and ray has risen up but still comes in at the 2nd tier. But Rays injuries and lulays surrounding talent + ratio bring em back to earth a bit. Trevor harris is in that 2nd tier. Hes like the anti nichols. Gets the stats, team still doesnt win. Those two are neck and neck. Elite tier; blm, and reily. 2nd tier; harris, nichols, and ray. 3rd tier; Durant. Lulay , jennings The, "they still have jobs?"(for now) tier. Glenn, and zach collaros.

He has the room to grow, no doubt. A man his size, with his strength and first step is all up side. However despite going back to college he never really polished his technique. His development between the two TCs was low. A year or two ago he would have lasted a year easy on the PR. We are just not in need of national linemen to a point where it makes sense to try and develop him. If he had managed to develop atleast 1 go to move to off set his bull rush hed be in the league on a roster imo.

Its more a thing of we dont have a spot for butcher to develop.

Is it known which Western team tried to grab Spooner off PR??

dare to dream. Thats about the position i would expect him to be in tbh. Fajardo, SJ greene, and coombs would be fair. They can even keep their first this year! -

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
wbbfan replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This. I think the league / teams need to make it more desirable for COs to stay up here, progress and not go down south to college jobs. Not easy I know but it seems like we have a lack of quality COs in the league and more then a few former coaches who moved up to college jobs down south. -
That would be pretty good, pettis is raw but has tons of up side. they been easing him a long for a while. I hope hes mid to bottom half of the main card
