  1. Some guys have that burning desire to win, and some guys dont. You cant replace it, you cant install it, and it can over come giant deficits in other areas. Wade miller made him self a nice career based on that and the right passport.
  2. 29 touches must be a record for harris in a game.
  3. drew willy could use a bit of buck pierces spirit and drive.
  4. Wanted to do this comparison when the time/reps got close to even. this is not about a QB controversy, rather its about gaps in our offense. Particularly with play calling and player usage. streveler 57/91 62.6% 615 yards 6td 2 ints 6.8 avg 33 rushes 230 yards 4 tds nichols 52/84 61.9% 621 yards 3 tds 3 ints 7.4 avg 1 rush 1 yard 1 td. Because nichols missed time and came back and had to fight off rust against teams a few weeks into the season Im gonna throw in the first 3 of his games from last year. 70/112 62.5% 826 5 tds 3 ints 7.35 17 rushing yards. Of course also worth noting is that harris is tearing it up. 610 rushing yards 5 tds 6.43 average + 100 yards receiving and 2 more td This time last year harris had 283 rushing yards and 4 rushing tds 317 receiving and 0 tds through the air. he hadnt had 100 yards rushing at this point last year in one game. hes flirted with it twice at half time this year alone. Last year we saw great success with mixing in flanders. Even though his direct touches were rather limited. He was used mainly as a gimmicky distraction due to weak imp wr talent. This year we have great talent at wr. The hole, as I see it is the loss of the flanders sets. We made up for it early with strevelers running ability. Which in it self is really hard to game plan for. We have made up for it a bit with demski, but with nichols back the final piece to our offense is that extra dimension. Our possession passing offense stretches the field more side line to side line then down field. Though we do well when we stretch the field because the defense is spread thin. What we really seem to need on offense to keep the performance consistent, rather then feast or famine is that extra dimension. Expanding on the bowman thread, I think the next step for our offense is to bench bowman and make far greater use of two backs. Flanders if healthy, lafrance if not. If the D can key on harris, our offense sputters mightily. The only game this year where harris had a great game (100 yards +) and we lost was the second bc game, a game we were routing but frequent un characteristic and freak mistakes and miss calls tossed away.
  5. The league should really look at rules limiting teams ability to dump first round picks in consecutive years. like the nba has. its not that the first round picks have such a great ROI, but that it hurts the value of the draft and helps create long term NI talent problems in bad teams.
  6. Cmon now, leaf has a lucrative job now and actually gives pretty good public speeches. Now jamarcus russell... Moral of the story is, in the modern CFL you can never under estimate what a desperate team will do for a qb with a prayer of being good. Now lets trade one of our qbs for half a roster.
  7. its do or die time for the als now. Reed needs to pass the gin around the league...
  8. Williams was a guy who could break any play into a score. Putting a guy like that in space making easy catches with our hard nosed down field blocking can be deadily. when ever a trade goes down in the cfl that involves this many starters its a big shock.
  9. saying it should be. but with this franchise you never know. we have seen far more then our share of lame ducks stick around for far far too long every previous year of this management group.
  10. Yeah montreal is an important market for talent development league wide. Its either gonna be crazy good or crazy bad. I dont think they have the coaching in place to get it done. but they could make some noise.
  11. No but bc has suffered from awful OCs and Qbing the last year and a half or so. Similar with a few of the wrs in mtl. Id take BJ, jackson or williams in a heart beat over bowman.
  12. From now till maybe a year after the second pick its a good move for the als. But reportedly these are supposed to be deep drafts. And the als could have high picks. Rice is a good player a bit better then neuf imo. But that + a starting but sub elite imp for two top picks is a crazy gamble. But then if it doesnt work out no one in montreal now will be around to clean it up any way.
  13. two first round picks that you would expect to be very high, a canadian starter, for a burned out but young NFL former top pick qb, and two starting ol, one canadian for the als. This is the craziest trade since we sent willy to TO. the als play thursday against edmonton. I cant think that they will toss manziel to the wolves that soon.
  14. Flanders practiced last week iirc. Would love to see thompkins. And yeah using grant to start an extra NI would be great.
  15. To be fair they did get a starting ol, and the 6th ol from hamilton who played a TON of the snaps as a TE in that double tight form ham loves soo much.
  16. Imo williams would easily start on our team and probably westerman as well. Jeffcoat and ogogpogo are better but not enough to make up the passport.
  17. 😲 Sweet merciful crap! sacre bleu!!!!!!! 1 im shocked chris williams is going back to hamilton. 2 I am further shocked that ham didnt get back a back up qb. masoli gets hurt and their season is toast. 3 i am still a lil stunned they traded him with in their division to the team with the most struggles. 4 if manziel doesnt work out the als future is spent. two first rounders??? 5. washington has been a starter and rice their back up ol in hamm. This is a move of desperation by the als. But they still have two very talented wrs, a quickly improved OL and an actual qb. If manziel isnt ready though, the als will be shot for a few years minimum.
  18. woah. I bet this included vernon adams going back to hammer. other wise its a bit silly. I cant see chris williams being one of the guys. Tbh any of their top 3 wrs. Would they give up westerman or henoc?
  19. I would put our line as the best in the league. Even with neuf who is the lesser of the group. The continuity on the line goes a long ways. Also having soo many nasty guys helps. The biggest improvement on the line this year is goossen. He has hit a whole other level. Imo four of our starting OL would start on every single team in the league. And neuf would still start on a few teams too. Keep in mind though, that this is his 8th year and he has never come close to starting every single game in the season. he dressed for every game last year but only started iirc 4 or 5. The ladder point on my previous comment probably prevents that. he hasnt been able to stay healthy when he has started, and you have to ask how much of it is playing with continuity and on an other wise elite line. If you put bryant etc on another team they play just as well. Neuf given what weve seen of him in the past even as recently as earlier this year I dont think they are sweating it. Besides jones will fix it. 😝
  20. Id do that in a heart beat. Id be down to kick in a bit to get williams or BJ.
  21. 1 Harris. This might be the best stretch of his career. 2 mo. His best game since coming back huge difference maker in coverage. 3 the dl. Both lines played amazing. But the dl killed it in pressure and run stopping. Hh goes to Bryan Bennett for his hit on teams. Not every day a qb lays some one out.
  22. Didnt watch, did any one see how herdman did?
  23. well over all but its really been feast or famine.
  24. We have fixed the positional issues on D. We are at a point where chemistry is less and less of an issue (JSK and bighill fed off each other and worked great together from jumpstreet) At this point the only place to point the finger is hall. The D flashes brilliance. But time and time again we see the prevent allow teams to get back into games.
  25. I dont think he is one of the early options in many plays at all. I think he is used to run off the defender. I feel like we read short to long. Rather then looking for the deep ball then checking down. Unless a team shows no deep cover or no help on adams or dressler etc.
