A few things worry me. He’s 27 with plenty of nfl window left. If he has another year like 25 this coming season i could see him being a clipboard qb down south for a long time. I also worry about durability, not because of him but because his legs are a key part of what he does. His 24 half season up here still bothers me. He came in took over and made that b.c. team worse. I haven’t seen that adapt and come back, over come adversity, elevate his team, carry in the clutch type stuff that top tier qbs need. He also had a tremendous supporting cast this year in bc on offence, and their D was soo bad most of the year he got a ton of time/drives to put up stats. I want to see him over come some adversity on that offence, come up clutch and repeat his performance from 25 in 26. (just not against us) It’s not his skill set, or even his mental tool kit I wonder about. It’s really his ability to turn it up at will when he needs it most, that Goat type ability to separate him self from the rest of the league. It’s how he will produce when times are rough. I always worry about qbs with early success. It’s all about over coming adversity.

same. I do like his talent too. I have doubts about his staying power and that contract is wild, but i respect the guy.

The last two years, and virtually every playoff game here at that. But we are stuck in a bad spot. We can't get someone who is top-tier at that or any other pay. Zach could've taken a reduced deal, though. If he cut his salary by 1/3, we could sign an elite level talent and a position of need.

holms biggest issue in all that would be drills vs nfl wrs. Even though he wouldn’t be asked to run bump n cover, he’d have to spend a lot of time early in camp just doing 1on1s. and his lack of physicality would be exposed and look even worse than normal. Nfl wrs get off is every thing. They are used to very tight spaces too. Holm is used to space, longer slower throws, and not getting tosses if he’s fairly close. If he could adapt to sticking tighter to wrs then using that burst for knock downs he’d be able to cover up his lack of physicality. He doesn’t need to win at the line with his jump.

Taylor, he was an even more ridiculous athlete than holm. We do really like athletic outliers at db under jy. Db is our fastest and biggest collection of athletes every year. The couple of former nfl guys we had in camp this year were crazy too, and 6’ plus. I’ll also throw in woodbey as the single greatest athletic outlier on the team today. He has excellent run/jump tools to the point he could cover any spot on the field. but he’s also 6’2 235 with the strength and physicality to excel at wil/mac in the cfl. If biggie had his measurables he never would’ve played a down in the CFL. This kid 100% should be playing S or sam in the nfl. I love watching him cover area and wrs like a db, then just monster guys physically when the ball is in play. He ate ol and big blockers lunch on a ton of plays in the run game last year. S, Sam, Wil, Mac, Dhb, you could play him at most positions. He could probably pass rush from the edge in a pinch if you needed. Not just an athlete either, that guy is a tough ass football player. I’ve got very high expectations for him this coming year.

the quickest most fluid hips ever. He’s got elite closing and cod speed. Hes slight in build and lacks the physicality though. He couldn’t play bump n run on the corner, or cover TEs inside. He could play in a limited nickel cover role. He would struggle in run D though. That said, the steelers have leaned heavily on cover 4 with the Safety’s stacked tight. So Holm, would actually fit their system reasonably well. Id also add it’s useful to have guys like holm on the practice squad to help coach up new guys and run scout team D. It’s probably just a flyer work out for a guy with the raw tools and history of being solid up here.

true on both points about logan. However, an un proven here guy who wasn’t a top tier returner previously coming off a serious injury is a big risk. I’d only take him back as a flyer. No expectations, cheap deal, very little rope in camp. I don’t think wj would play for the level of pay he actually warrants with his play. I’d want other pass rushers signed before wj. Atleast one top level guy. Then wj battles for 3rd reps. That probably won’t happen but it’s what should happen. Vaughters was ok, but didn’t play him self into another deal at the same range as last year imo. If kola is cut loose i will very happily eat my hat and heaping piles of crow. That would seal the fact that the mafia has recognized the error of their ways and are doing what it takes to fix it. I am very encouraged by my moves so far. i’d put us at a B+. we could’ve done better at dl coach and oc, but we could also polish both those guys into being A+ additions to the staff. we gotta crack open the bank in free agency, and not blow it all extending guys who wouldn’t get any offer or even close to that money any place else.

philpot is the least of the 3 id like to pay. I don’t trust his ability to stay healthy and productive over a full season. I don’t love paying any rb 300k. I do agree these deals are making me feel a bit better about brady’s deal.

Boy that is a monster deal for Emelius. I wouldn't want to be on the hook for paying him or Philpot what they got. I do not have him in the same tier as Brady for Canadians. He might be the best Canadian WR next year, good chance he will be in the top tier if not, he's 28 in his prime and came up big when the riders needed it. I get why they would offer him a deal like this. And they are probably hiding some of the cap hit in this season, like all these extensions likely are. I see soo much sticker shock in the free agents so far, and it isn't going away for me yet. It is good that we are seeing some stability with higher-end free agents league-wide.

he’s a solid pick up for what is likely two guys who don’t make edmonton next year. I really don’t get how teams set value for draft picks in the cfl in relation to starters. I get edmonton is trying to get as many lotto tickets as possible in hopes of fixing their ni depth, and ott is going to try any thing to be good this year. I just don’t get timing and value.

kelly made a whole lot more than one mistake. I hope he finds a road to better mental health and stability. He certainly doesn’t deserve any thing from bomber fans. He left a far more significant black eye for the fan base and franchise than Reinbold. Jeff was a colossal screw up football ops wise, but atleast he was a good person who upheld the expectations that come with leadership.

Generally, you are lucky to have a couple of guys in the draft who have decent athleticism and size that could be polished into Ss if they fulfill their potential. True cover guys, little on Sam's, are rare and valuable. They get a LOT of leash to figure out if they have any thing left too. BLM, Zach, and Harris are all great examples of that. All 3 looked fully cooked for more than a little while and managed to get back to being good. Khari was like 29 when he broke in with us, too. But you have far better chances of developing a QB who is in his late 20s when he gets up here than a kid out of college these days. The NFL is all over every single archetype at QB. No longer do they exclude system guys, or none pro offense guys. the value of a canadian who can run with and cover wrs, not to mention has good size/strength and is capable of playing a gap. The rarity of those skills combined with the passport makes easily worth waiting for. The canadian talent pool in general is shakey. It’s a no risk high reward move to keep him around.

Imo, one or both of wilson/chase will be let go. I think it’s an indication that we won’t go after a vet fa like powell. Elgersma will depend on nfl interest. Not socks? The fact he’s getting multiple mid season work outs tells me it isn’t. Maybe it closes before our camp and he comes up, but i think chances are as good that if he wants to be a camp invitee in the nfl next year that he will get it. If he goes that route, I could see him in the ufl this year. Frankly i’d be good with him going ufl then nfl camp and maybe being here mid season if he doesn’t catch on. I just hope he doesn’t end up sitting not getting tc/practice reps. I think he still has a lot to gain from high level coaching and practice reps.

Reminds a bit of kenny lawler. Tremendous hands and ability to catch contested balls win 50/50 and pay the physical price to get big possession catches. He tested a bit better than lawler but i don’t see him running open much. Great body control, positional awareness, and the size to go with it. I love the football iq when his qb breaks the pocket and how he comes back to the ball. How he adapts to our game and if he can get open vs pro dbs are the big questions. Very good prospect for us.

signed peyton thorne. wow its going to be interesting to watch the qbs in camp. Mich state, auburn, played at good schools. Guy has incredible raw talent and athleticism. Easy smooth arm action with a good release. Very capable runner. He’s not really wired for high volume running. Great upside in a young guy.

going jones to sankey is a lateral move, certainly not one worth losing sleep over or spending money on. We have a good group of bigger wils who can actually run/cover ground, and play inside gaps. The only LBers in free agency I would look at is allen, and mcmanis. Who are the top tier of value at wil/mac.

probably not, but he is very lucky to have a job and should be happy for that.
