  1. Amazing how much pressure we get with Adam’s and Lawson at dt
  2. Keys to the game ol. Lots of change, but we need them to play well together to get our offence going. strevy. Gotta take what the D gives, not force throws or running. Play qb and run for easy yards if the opportunity is there. Secondary. They need to start out hot this year for us. The Leo’s can move the ball through the air and get hot. If we limit them through the air it’ll give us a great shot. Players to watch, Parker, Lawson, Randolph, and sterns. Those guys producing would give us a huge boost.
  3. Thing is, we are silly over run at lber and db even compared to normal. We could have teams help in other guys like bailey too. Its just an odd depth chart.
  4. 225 to 230 range isn’t impossible to play edge at. If you’re quick and have good hands you could have a hay day with slow tackles. He’s got the tenacity and intangibles but man I’d rather see him polished in camp and pre season then eased in if that’s the goal. If any thing I’d probably toss tony jones to edge in a bind.
  5. To an extent that is a problem yes. I'd love to see AR expansion. But not to the degree we have it. Yeah probably. I think it's gonna be a tough close game. They have, but even by those standards, our pass rush was bad last year.
  6. Vaughters was picked up as a cut prior to free agency. Logan is hurt.
  7. We used all our roster flexibility to put every backup possible at LBer and DB. And to start 3 American ol. Maybe its a decent chance this doesn't end up biting us in the butt. But boy is it risky, especially for the game 1 roster. Just 1 or 2 injuries for the game at positions other than DB/Lber would have us cooked.
  8. Yeah, and with the cap space sunk cost fallacy shouldn't be too strong. I think we are all just disappointed that of our 3 "big" free agent splashes, 1 is on the IR and 2 are on the PR/scratched.
  9. Coaches coach better same thing happens. Before last year, we played it pretty close down to the wire and came up short. Coaching would've made a bigger difference in those years. Last year was such a mess of poor play and coaching, but we should've been able to beat up on a team QBd by arbuckle.
  10. Yeah and go after nfl cuts aggressively if they fit our need. Idk about Lofton. Fringe guy missing this chunk will have a serious uphill battle. Unless Randolph fails, he’s gonna be in a bad spot in a month.
  11. Could be fit with hogans system.
  12. I don’t think it’s about decisive wins at these positions as much as group under performance. I love sterns heart and motor. Full effort blocking despite his size. I hope he surprises us. I think we are all disappointed and rightly so, in the way the battle went for the last wr spot. Sterns over white seems surprising. I know they really liked sterns intangibles but white seemed to have a good edge.
  13. If you aren't going to carry a backup imp Wr, might as well carry 2 Canadians. especially if 1 has actual roster value.
  14. This is not football from 25 years ago. 1 back in the nfl last year averaged 20 carries a game for the season. The best running backs in the world do not take all the carries anymore. And this isn't a new thing. Also, short of injury corcoran isnt getting 3 snaps either. Cobb in even for Corcoran would make a lot of sense.
  15. WJ has experience at wr, wanna flip him out there? The back up, corcoran only has cis experience. We did it because we had to, thats the point. If we end up in that situation, it's MCI/corcoran at wr. MCI isn't close to becoming a skill position player atm.
  16. I'd flip griffin to starting corner, take bridges off and put cooley on. That leaves us with Vaval as the dime and kr, plus ayers/shay/smith who can fill in in a pinch as the dime wil, or S. Carrying 2 back up imp dbs, plus ayers who has played some S and Sam in camp/pre season, and shay/smith is pretty wild when you have no back up imp wr, rb, de, or dt. At that point, I'd actually go with another imp DL over cooley currently. But I'd take off an IMP lber for cooley/an imp wr as well. Youre stuck on cooley is a starting wr now! No one is making that case. He'd be a sub pack player as a varied back field threat, and the back up imp wr in case of injury that we do not have. Cooley as the emergency wr > Just corcoran. 2 guys go down MCI is playing wr, and he's not even a RB yet.
  17. Yeah, world of difference. As a backup / rotational slot, you can do a lot of extended hand-off stuff, on top of all the two-back stuff. Vs being 5 yards off the DL reading and reacting, or being heads up on a 6'4 300 lbs tackle. You don't have to throw at a WR to make use of them. Playing on the edge, the game is up in your face a second after the snap for every snap you're on the field.
  18. No snaps that I saw or heard of. But we have thrown Lbers to the wolves a few times at DE. We threw Lucky and Weitz into the grinder on DL a couple of times last year. Despite neither really playing it before, and Lucky being more of a DB than even a LB. We threw Hansen into it as well, though he was built for it. If we run a good chunk of 40 front, He will very likely be thrown into the mix. If he isn't thrown in, I'd expect to see a decent number of snaps with 2 Canadian DTs, with Adams on the edge opposite one of Vaughters/wj. If we run a lot of 30, Ayers likely doesn't see a snap on the edge.
  19. Imo, the top teams are not. Montreal walked away from Fajardo, Toronto cut Carey, Bc moved on from Vaj, and others. The bottom tier of teams (Edmonton, Calgary, and Hamilton) brought in wholesale change, adding top-level talents. We are basically on the treadmill tier with Ottawa. I bet the opponent looks at a few positions and say ok, how can we exploit this? Last year, teams exploited our DL not by attacking our weakest guys but by gang blocking WJ and forcing us to beat better blockers 1 on 1 with green under performers. They treated our WR core and OL similarly.
  20. Kyrie needs to come out playing like his hair is on fire. Like the peak former level of play. And he needs to stay healthy, then maintain that level. Aside from the injuries themselves, the thing that kills Kyrie is that after he comes back from injury, it takes him a good month to get back up to his best level of play. Even then, I didn't see any signs of that old Kyrie at all this preseason/camp. I like the player Ayers is. He has tremendous instincts, football IQ, and willingness to do whatever it takes to make a play. I think that's a guy you get on the field, any place you can. He's athletic enough and smart enough to make plays at basically any level of the defence. My big concern with him on the DL is that he is such a grinder, he could get hurt and worn out really fast. The guy only has 1 gear, and he's not used to facing an OL every snap. I'm glad Ayers and Vaval made it onto the game day roster. I'm glad Adams is in and starting, I'm glad Smith and Shay are in. I hope they get some actual snaps. I'm also glad we are going 3 imp OL. Parker needs to show out imo. We are really deep and young at DB. I hope he's back to his best form. Having gone from Lawler to Sterns in the WR core year over year is disappointing. He needs to show out too.
  21. If rebusrankin is right and we run a bunch of 30 front again it makes some sense. We did that a lot last year, but barely did it in pre season/camp. Even at that though, our DTs aren't guys who are effective on the edge of a 30. Its basically just Adams, who is the only imp DT.
  22. I can get that maybe they like Novak for his teams contribution. Korny as the 3rd ni dt over bailey is a bad call.
  23. yeah, Hopefully if lawson gets enough leash to stretch him self back out. Maybe it's just gonna be a paper thing like that. Dare to dream any way. Having soo many of the DIs at redundant positions is wild. Kind of what I was expecting just to a greater extent though. Hopefully the rosters improve going forward. Idk how you keep Jjones off the AR. Especially when you dress soo many lbers.
  24. People talking about having cooley as the emergency back up imp wr/package guy being crazy, meanwhile our only back up WR is Corcoran. Guy has great hands, but runs like an OL, and is a rookie canadian lol. Some how Thomas back over Lawson, go figure. Pretty funny. Im sure ayers isn't actually gonna take reps at DE right? We didn't use him there at all in camp pre season or previously. I kind of would've liked to see that though. He's soo dynamic, quick and strong he could actually be deadly at end. If he was given time, practice and training. Hate that the good jones is out, hate more that kyrie is in. But not surprised. I just don't get the move to bring him in. 2 imp DBs is a spicy pick. Don't love that. Glad Vaval is returning and playing, though. Single injury away from doing some crazy stuff at most positions. Basically all of them but DB. It is a bit worse than I expected. And stranger than I would've thought. Thats like having a drag race with 2 shopping carts that combine for 3 wheels. I suspect you're right too. I wonder if Lawsons late recovery is why he's behind Thomas now. Giving him time to get his wind back.
  25. Horvarth is a FB/H-back and a HB. He led Purdue in rushing one year, and was a decent multi threat with his pass catching. He was drafted in the NFL as a Fb/Hback/Rb hybrid. I'm sure their goal with him is to have a guy who can do a bit of every thing and not need a ton of touches/carries. He honestly doesn't play much like a FB either. Thats why he isn't in the NFL. He lacks that physicality.
