Yes, I went back and checked out his stats. I certainly remember him having a larger impact. Funny how that's clouded.

Wonder what would have happened if he could have stayed healthy.

That's another reason Henoc is wasting his career, IMO, sitting on the sidelines. An injury could end everything tomorrow and he's missing key earning time. When his football career is over, he can focus on other pursuits, but now is the time to earn, baby, earn.

to be fair, he butchered us a couple times so it skews things a bit. If he would have stayed healthy and gotten heavy reps in those couple years early on im sure he would have been a 1500+ yards double digit TDs and a sky high YPC.

To me, camp is huge for guys still adjusting to the cfl game or who dont stay in game shape in the off season. Also young guys still working on improving their craft. To a lot of established veterans I think its more psychological. Some guys dont need camp as much as others. henoc might be one of those, but I hate to see a guy sitting and waiting rather then going out and making it happen for him self. Hes trying to rest on the laurels of what he did here before going to the nfl and his physical tools. But that was a long time ago now and his tools arent getting sharper.

I'll take a guy who can do 225 reps as well. Be funny if it was a punter. ;)

xD that would be funny. If some one is top notch and excels in any area physically they are worth a look. Lets go sign one of the nbadl guys thats been kicking around a few years. 6'8 220 lbs wr lol. But then most of those guys struggle to put up 1 rep of 185 at their combine.

Is he? At the time, he was a ratio-breaker and pretty darn good. Maybe, my memory is foggy and I'm remembering Lumsden more for his potential, rather than reality.

He was a high potential guy but never stayed healthy or came close to living up to expectations. He was a bust, showed flashes in 07 and 08 but over 6 years had dismal production. Henoc on the other hand is a ratio breaker and a big time play maker. One of the better lbers in the cfl and still young.

Exhibition games suck but I have to admit I'm looking very forward to watching. Football I'd football and yeah it will be tough to watch but I'll be watching both bomber preseason games

I'm not as convinced that 1290 will take over after Irving retires.Isn't cjob available throughout the entire province? I'm not sureif 1290 is. I'm not convinced that I even get 1290 50 minutes up highway 6 at my lake

cjob has a large radius, idk about size comparisons for 1290. but 680 is allways partially static for me, and ive been a good few places where its been worse.

He was in an NFL camp for half of the 2014 season...

In the past two seasons, he's had Durant as his qb for one half of a game. He had 400 yards in four games with Glenn at the start of last season before Glenn got hurt and their offense went in the toilet. I guess what I'm saying is your stat is pretty misleading.

I do agree that he hasn't been the best receiver in the league over the last six seasons though.

In the other half he put up 320 yards in 9 games... remember how many qbs milt caught tds from? All of them. all of the qbs on earth.  Hes a really good wr, legit go to no1 wr for the team. Im not sayin hes bad, but he sure isnt the no1 guy in the past 6 years.

When he was here.... in Edmonton the guy has been an absolute beast with rock solid hands... frustrating as all mother**** actually

it was like the feeling every time kamau incompleterson caught a pass after he left wpg

Milt had a couple NFL goes, and even sat out TC one time over a contract dispute. We tend to deify Milt around here (...with good reason. That 2002 season...seriously...) but he was the kind of ******* who would have LOVED a guy like Jonathan Hardaway as his agent.

I think just work outs. Back then that was mostly what cfl guys got. Hold a clip board and go get coffee. He did a bunch of that, threatened to request a trade one, threatened to retire, held out. Eh he was allways here for game time and allways kept the office stuff away from the field. Blink did a bit of that too.

Let's see, do I want the perennial 1000-yard man who plays like Brian Kelly and who has been basically the best receiver in the CFL for the past six or so years (give or take an S.J. Green)

Or do I want the young up-and-comer who hit nearly 1000 yards with Brett Smith as his QB of record for most of the season and who plays like a young Brian Kelly? And who is going to be a great one for years and years?

Trick question. I will take them both!

Watching old games the other day, was shocked at how Brian Kelly resembled Dressler ... a little howdy-doody looking dude who does nothing but get open and catch TDs.

best wr for the past 6 years? Cmon man. hes got 1200 yards and change for 7 tds in the past 2 years. 1206 is his career high, and only been in double digits for tds once.  5/8 years in the cfl hes had 1000 yards. career average yards per season of under 1k. 3 year average of 750 and 5 tds. Plus some change.

I've had far too little sleep this week to feel 100% confident in anything the ole' brain says, but my recollection is Stegall "explored his NFL options" three times during his Bomber career.

I think he explored them but I dont believe they amounted to much. He played his best after he hit 30, and its really tough for 30+ year old guys to get the jump to the nfl. 2000-2002 was his prime, and he was 30/31/32 in that time frame.

  10. The power generation comes from legs and hips and goes up. Lower body strength is more important, but great upper body strength can really bail a tackle out.  Of course foot speed hip fluidity and such are all very important at tackle too. What ever a Ts weakest at is most important to him. Lots of linemen out there dont have particularly big arms for their stature. But they all have big legs. Its kinda taken for granted that when your 300+ and play a sport at a high level that your legs will be pretty damn strong. I think thats why 225 reps at the combine is thought soo highly of for linemen. If a guy has strong upper body and is that big his legs probably wont be lagging too badily.

For me though ill take a quick/explosive tackle over any other single attribute.

  11. The first play he runs by his defender and makes a great one handed catch then leaves his man in the dust.  Lots of big plays, not that youd expect much else from a highlight reel. Looks like he tends to catch the easy between the numbers passes with his body. But when the ball is thrown low, high, behind or leading him he does a great job snagging it with his hands. There are a good few guys every year on nfl PRs that make a circus catch every practice or two, but body catch and have some drops on easy passed for this exact same reason. That said, this video is 5 years old and hes been around the nfl a good while.

He ran a 4.6 40 which isnt blazing, but when you watch him in game and he reaches top speed with in a couple steps. Runs away from a lot of defenders too He looks really fast 0-20 yards and 40+. That and nifty foot work and good moves is why i imagine they tried to turn him into a KR. Clearly plays faster then 4.6, strong and a strong jumper too. Isnt a tackle breaker despite his size, but one of those guys who doesnt just fall over at contact. And he clearly isnt afraid of contact with lots of over the middle plays, and catches in traffic.

The NFL knocks on him were not a good route runner, inconsistent with catches, Doesnt block, and isnt a high motor guy. But in college he looked like a solid STs cover guy. That and the length of time he stuck in the nfl I tend to think he isnt a low effort guy.

Id say hes some where between chris brazzell and chris mathews. Clearly has all the potential in the world. Size, speed, hands, can jump and is big and strong. Really interesting to see what he will do.

Sure he ran some awful offences, but I recall him using the rbs quite heavily in the passing game when he was here the first time, both Sellers and Roberts caught a lot of balls. He's got the players to run a lot of plays that can generate yards after the catch. I think just reading the tea leaves we can get a kind of idea what Lapo is going to want to run. The real concern with him is if he's grown a set of balls since he was fired or if he's still going to be passive to the point of crippling the offense.

Tbh i credit that mostly with khari's quick check downs. Its not some thing we saw make a big return when he came back as a HC and ran his own offense. I would love to see that return though.

LaPo was way to conservative as a HC... but that was the absolute worst circumstances to fire a coach - that loss was basically a 'win' for that team.

    So glad Mack is gone.

Id agree with that, but Imop he should have been fired before that. Turning a possible W we had no right earning into a L even if its a moral victory isnt gonna cut it in the cfl or any league.

I didnt think it was just passive play calling, though that was a problem. Our offense under him seemed soo vanilla and lacking in diversity. Maybe it was plays to set up other stuff that never came to fruition but the offensive playbook/calling is my biggest concern for this team this year. I think our talent and depth is in a great place.

I think the change in offense alone will help our Willy take less abuse. Lots of options for quick short passes on the team the way I see it, throw it behind the guys trying to kill the qb and all of a sudden they might slow down a bit. Harris especially is as good a pass catcher as he is rusher so that should in theory help out a lot.

Im waiting to see what we run and how we run it. Plop ran some awful offenses here at multiple points in time. The weapons we have should help prevent Ds from pinning their ears back and coming at willy every down.

five starters on offence should help.  Like to see six though, with 4 NI hogs on the OL.  Maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

Personally id rather see us get the best OL out possible and make the ratio work else where. Im tired of watching our willy get smacked around.

A combo pack of Chevon Walker and Nic Grigsby... the best of both worlds :D

and a long list of other guys i can think of. not a rb but vinny sutherland seemed to fall over at the most flailing arm tackle attempt.

Highlight video?    He looks just like a hundred other rb's that have played in the NCAA.

Yeah it was a lot of what you see in mid level talent playing on low level teams. Didnt do any thing special hit holes and ran into tackles. Couple decent moves here or there not crazy speed or any great cuts. His 40 time was awful, but the first report from rookie camp was he looks quick. Its hard to tell some from video some times, how fast a guy is on the field. Guess we will see. But even if he isnt great im pretty excited to see the rest of our RBs in camp.

I'll say this... unless one of the forum members were there... I doubt since it poured.... I'd refer folks to Mike O'shea and the interviews on the bomber site and twitter

hey the looking at their phones none stop and talking to each other is important stuff.
