  1. Remember a couple years ago when if a DB sneezed too hard in the general direction of a WR PI was called and nearly all the PI challenges were won by offensive teams? I think the defensive / offensive parity is really good right now rule wise. If any thing you could see more offensive PI, and spearing on offensive players, not to mention a lot more holding calls on OL. The issue making offense lag this year is teams (out side of wpg) have failed to develop good OLs, and we are hitting an age wall with the previous block of good and great QBs. Its a transition period where in maybe just 2 years every qb who has been top tier or even good starter tier will be gone. The "next guys" like mbt, fajardo, vaj, and evans hit the sophomore wall HARD. Some of them were getting away with smoke and mirrors and its been exposed. Some have battled health issues, others consistency. Next year we will see who if any are for real. But they also have the next wave of guys nipping at their heels. With how long the old guard was in the league, teams moved far away from balanced offenses. Every team is scratching and clawing at the same FA wrs every year, and hoping signing a single OL will fix their whole OL. Macadoo did a really good job in ssk giving fajardo a simple playbook he could execute. But other wise teams have failed to adapt their offenses to fit young QBs and groom them properly. The league cant come down on defenses and make it easier on the offense for the failings of teams to develop and run their offenses.
  2. Their record doesnt impress me either. Their versatile offense with the best rb in the league however would if they had good qbing. They got a lot of weapons. I think its gonna be a good pair of games, that we both win.
  3. My wife thinks that what collaros does is normal now. It might be the single most impressive play a bomber QB has ever made. Up there with the dozen or so other similar plays collaros has made like that since then.
  4. Takes two gcs for Collaros to get into a tier with 3 guys who didn't win any and who probably won't have as many bomber play off wins combined. Pretty crazy though how far Collaros has risen in soo few games. Khari going into the hof and up on the ring will be a great day. They also tossed a ton of picks in an era where dbs played man cover mostly and had to make great plays to get picks. Today's modern match zone and attack the ball would have them tossing 40 plus picks a year.
  5. I wonder what happens in the off season with Reilly and the lions. If he stays they need wholesale changes to support him. I don't know if they have the ability to build the line and running game they need for him in one off season.
  6. 2000 for sure and I think 91 too was oc by committee. Seriously. Pretty awful move. I believe worman was involved in the play book in 2000 too. Not sure though. Right. Most of those years we didn't have a qb coach either. Just craziness. In plops first year here they kept the worman playbook its pretty well known. Khari was familiar with it and plop tweaked it. Namely with more screen opportunities to the backs. And I have to say as a member of the not plop fan base calling plays from some one else's playbook is crazy hard and un natural. Buck has shown tremendous ability to predict and adapt to defensive tendencies. He's shown some flashes of great creativity too. I'm very optimistic for how good an oc he can become. Right now we don't miss any oc from the past 30 years. Yeah. I mean that offense didn't have many pieces and he was under a control freak but the adjustment to the cfl game is hard especially for established ocs. I think you have to bring them in slow not just drop them into the mix right away.
  7. Pretty much. When most of the starters sit a quarter of the game you don't often get tp. This is less iffy than some of the previous weeks. Getting back ups valuable reps is way better than tp.
  8. Holy sweet necro post batman. But yeah. I mean its a fine line between mos having the time to get a full roster that bought into his style and was talented enough to not really have a guy that sucks but is smart. Glad it went this way.
  9. Just for fun who was the best oc in that time and were they in the top tier league wide? Have we been sad to see any oc go idk maybe worman. I think in that time we've had some of the best dcs but maybe the worst ocs In the whole league. Pretty crazy for the cfl.
  10. That could be the tldr on all his posts tbh
  11. Yards don't tell the story. Some teams get run on less and especially these days with few heavy run teams. Who said he's a bum? Did you get that by Me saying carries should be split with him and Brady does that day he's a bum to you? Lmao classic Brandon. Augustine is jacked maybe the most of all of em. I'd say borsa is more of a kr guy. Augustine isn't listed at a huge weight but he's short af. He was a power runner in college. Now he's improved his speed. If he ran at the combine like he can now he'd probably be a top 2 or 3 round pick easily. Maybe a late first his work out was extremely impressive out side of his running. I see Brady as a bigger Harris. Augustine as a stronger demski and borsa as a more versatile version of peterrman
  12. A lot of people around the league seem to confuse expensive secondaries with elite secondaries. I bet we have one of the cheapest secondaries in the league even after bringing back rose.
  13. They are solid but ssk wasn't a good run d team imop. And 55 yards on 1 carry then 43 on 11 isn't great. That's the type of guy you should work in but would be very hard to run 20 times a game in our offense. That said he could easily become a feature every down back with reps. Which is why we should split reps the rest of the way. We know Brady won't give up like jwj if running is tough and he can still put up 20 touches in that situation. We know he has great hands and is a good blocker. Augustine could be a great rotational weapon for us right now. And he might be able to grow into more with the reps. I remember it one time right after he came back from an injury too. It was crazy!
  14. For sure, and I dont think they will have trouble retaining the core guys at all. And we have a few really good young guys ready to step up plus walters n co have shown they can find guys to step in and contribute. Next years roster could look very different than this one, but I bet it will still be very much the same kind of team.
  15. QFT. The 1 game is almost entirely for guys who wouldnt play if they were 100%. Any regular contributor who isnt a rookie goes right to the 6 game. Putting a guy like harris on the 1 game vs the 6 game provides nothing at all. Putting him on the 6 game gives us a worse case scenario of saving 6 weeks of his salary cap hit. Thats pretty good value for costing nothing.
  16. Hes on the PR too. But I think he wants to play out east and be close to his family.
  17. Given the short nature of CFL deals, and the covid year with several renegotiated deals, I suspect every team is going to end the year with a record number of FAs. I expect nearly all the vets in the league to be playing the final year right now. The front offices are gonna be real busy bringing guys back.
  18. Idk whats funnier, him picking us to be last, or how every one picked alberta to finish 1 and 2.
  19. Honestly I dont think any thing changes at all. I 100% believe they will go out and play the same aggressive tough smart football that they've played to this point of the year. I think these guys are trap proof.
  20. Ocs dream of having the kind of versatility that you can get between those 2 guys. Them both being NI makes it about as good as you can hope for. I dont ever remember a team having such an abundance of talented runners as demski, augustine and brady. Little on that being your 2-4 options at rb. Buck can put in some plays that involve 2 of those guys that cfl teams have no chance of preparing for or coming up with an answer to.
  21. I believe thats the case yes, and I dont blame him for declining that option. They were a potential 1 hit wonder with unstable ownership at that point. If I was him I wouldnt take that job either. Ottawa is worse, but at the same time its low expectations. He'd get a chance to build his own team, and coaching staff, and get a good amount of time to make it work. Honestly Id take the RBs over the elks job. The RBs suck out loud. But atleast it isnt a toxic cesspool in the middle of antivaxx outbreak land. Taryn christion is a guy worth developing. They have a couple guys on D worth a look, Obviously leone and ward are valuable. Mulumba is a decent teams depth / developmental NI. Auclair is even better. Delance looks like he belongs in the league. Id take petey back in a heart beat. Behar, coombs, davis, and harris Id take in a heart beat. Coombs and behar would back up woli in a n instant. Id take davis and harris over darvin at this point. Devonte dedmon? Yep, id take him too. Id take more guys from ottawa than from the riders right now tbh. Of course some of those guys might not fit FIFO, but I cant really speak to that on either end. And any wr that plays for this bomber team has to be willing to give 100% to their blocking.
  22. He struggled with blocking in his games replacing Harris in 19. No one can really know where he is at now. Chances that he is better than Brady now in pass pro is slim. But both could end up being great at it. Vs judging him as superior based on 1 run late in a blow out where he wasn't touched till past first down yardage? Lmao. He's never played a great or even good run d. And he's never carried the ball 20 19 18 or 17 times in a game. Both guys combined have maybe one third of a year's worth of carries. But we have seen Brady vs tough running as the feature back. Augustine should get a good number of reps the rest of the way. Both guys could close to double their career touches before the play offs. But in no way is Augustine ahead of Brady right now.
  23. Yeah I think director of Canadian scouting is more realistic to start with. I wouldn't put him ahead of dyce or Ted here. Might be better if he worked for the league even.
  24. I dont think mac leaves. The schedule and flexibility is most important to him from what I understand. Goveia though, yeah I think thats pretty likely. Unless for some reason they give plop the GM title too lol.
  25. Yeah I really like borsa too. He has rare speed and quickness. Could be a good one. And the great thing is he won't need to rush at all. He will get lots of time to learn the pro game. I think one of bailey and demskis runs got charted as a pass ala shovel, but we did have a great stretch of even when you knew we were running you had no idea who was gonna get the touch. Bailey looks really good on the sweeps too. Being able to mix 4 guys through carries with many various looks is a tremendous threat. I hope buck continues to harness that. Also, I really wish we'd get grant in on some offensive touches. Thats the most dangerous guy on the team with the ball in his hands imo. The big difference too, was that plop just ran fly sweeps. It wasnt till late 18 when demski had started actually doing damage with the sweeps that we saw jet motion used to pull defenders and stretch them out of the box on runs to harris. That motion is really what made our offense work, as we especially saw with out demski early this year. Suddenly you have 2 viable ball carriers running in different directions and the defense has to be patient and stay at home, wait for the hand off and carefully watch to go for the right guy. That also has opened up some pretty good quick screens, especially in the first half of the first elk game. But also in the last game we saw play action, a fake pump to a screener and a brilliant timing route at the seam to darvin adams for a huge gain. Fajardo at his best in 19 carved up those timing routes, add in PA / sweep motion / and or the screen that the sweep opens and good luck defending that. Dressler was great, and got us some good gains with that screen, but man plop really knocked a couple years off his career with those runs.
