Preseason B Super Saturday OTT@HAM, BC@CGY, SSK@EDM, TOR@MTL
wbbfan replied to johnzo's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They sent 2 starters with brown and Crum. That’s why I’m not surprised watching. They are gonna ruin those kids. -
Had and lost most of those guys. Bryant as well. Hence burning through them. I believe Nevis was banged up early that camp as well we air lifted dl a couple times.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

Nah, once I saw them throwing him and Crum out with all of 2 starters I couldn’t watch. They are gonna ruin both those guys. -
I really thought we’d do a round of cuts early this week. We always seem to do one early then announce the final one as late as possible. It does compound the notion that we are doing things differently this year. Though I wonder how much roster turn over and how many rookies are they willing to start? He did but that was also 5 years ago, and we were churning though dts and guys then.
-
Not sure what his actually size is I see recent stuff saying as low as 246 and as big as 275. But I would think we’d be mainly looking at combo guys it’d make the most sense if he was that big and could play both spots.
-
Yeah a lot of talk about him hitting a rookie wall hard. That said you can work through it and make use of the guy. Tremendous talent. Too bad 100% those two crashed and burned here. We’ve had a stream of early season bad vet dbs as well. From glass to rock. We can develop and scout dbs very well. We have squandered some talent at db but not much and you always have wasted potential. Db is a position that is among the least concerning here.

In an in deal world I’d love to have qb4 be some one who is a major run threat and can operate the strevy package in case he gets hurt. But otherwise Wilson is an exciting guy to develop. I should add that he played every alignment and position in college. We have made extensive use in the past few years of a heavy set with a dt at end, and that would be right up his alley. Honestly with his athleticism physically he could be a de full time. It requires a lot more polish in edge pass rushing though. Very happy we brought him in.

Upshaw https://www.nfl.com/prospects/taylor-upshaw/32005550-5361-3900-1669-dbc296816ec6 https://arizonawildcats.com/sports/football/roster/taylor-upshaw/15402 Adams I hope we see in the last pre season game. Tremendous upside, will have to see how his game translates to higher level, guys that big and athletic often dominate on that a lone might need a lot of polish. Not too surprised about Barry-eh. Probably gets another look in some ones camp or pr. Makes me think he wasn’t mentally tough enough and or coach able. May havr been a guy who peaked in college or just not a fit here. Grainger is an interesting pick. Can’t see him getting much for reps or play time for a while. Might be a camp arm or they might love his intangibles.

Witherstone was supposed to be having a good camp but didn’t look great in pre season. Adams is a monster athlete. Played naia level 156 tackles 96 solo 20.5 sacks 56 Tfl. Of note, he did a bit of every thing as well in his 3 years. Punting a decent bit some kick offs, carried the ball throwing it mostly on fake punts. Head and shoulders the most talented guy they had. 40 yard average punter with 19 50+. Realistically his punting motion is kinda janky and really slow at times. If he started following through with his leg he could be a legit punter. Might be a guy you could turn into a kick off specialist. https://pscbobcats.com/sports/football/roster/devin--adams/4963 https://nationalscoutingcombine.com/national-scouting-combine-2024-attendee-devin-adams-invited-to-new-england-patriots-mini-camp/ https://www.si.com/nfl/patriots/rookie-minicamp-patriots-invite-absurd-devin-adams https://pscbobcats.com/news/2024/4/29/football-peru-state-to-new-england-patriots-devin-adams.aspx#:~:text=During his time at Peru,State Head Coach Phil Ockinga . https://ras.football/ras-compare/?p1=10989&p2=26142&pos=DT

Barry-eh is cut according to hodge. Replaced by Darren grainger mvp of last years idaho potato bowl https://georgiastatesports.com/sports/football/roster/darren-grainger/6638#:~:text=Accounted for 3%2C357 yards of,season record for a quarterback.

I know we have the week. I’m a little surprised we didn’t cut some guys though. Make room for new ones. In the past we’ve often seen the first wave come early. The way we are crunching for roster spots it makes me think they want to really squeeze the most we can out of the time we have with the guys we have in camp.
-
Few others too. If they are on the field at the same time we will call it the point break packsge.
-
Same. Soo much room for innovation on both sides of the ball but no one has interest in trying any thing different. Qb talent is in a serious dip, and has been for a while. But every one is still trying to get the same qb.
-
I mean mbt came back, ancestral spirits and all. But yeah brown is the only blue chip in league next guy we’ve seen in a while. Last couple flopped hard. Personally, I’d go heavy sets with a really good running qb and pound with some option and simple passing package. Play some bully football. Wils and macs are smaller than ever. Athletic big tes are more available than ever and don’t have a real market value up here. Run 21 and 22 form sets and make a bunch of 200 lbs guys try to get off the blocks of 250+ lbs guys.
-
Human bowling ball? lol. Isn’t he like 6’2 290? he was playing with a ruthless aggression though. The way he played he could’ve been an ol draft pick for us lol. 100%. If he out performs Thomas and or Lawson this year I’ll buy his damn jersey have him sign it at fan appreciation day and gladly eat crow in person. yep, I’m anticipating cut down day more than the last pre season game because that is going to be the big indicator of this season. Though we have frequently taken a couple weeks to get the right guys in, if the top talent is at least on the pr I’ll consider it a win. It already happened when we cut a guy he rostered in the gc and most of last season. If you think Walter’s and wade didn’t take action after we were out coached in the gc for the second time in a row idk what to say. You can argue the Symantec’s of reigning in, I’m sure mos is wanting to improve and do better as much as any one, but you can tell easily from this off season it happened.

Antonio brown announced he’s filing bankruptcy. He will try to get another nfl deal. How long before the elk or riders add him to the neg list? -
Yeah, I think the talent level in will be a big difference maker. How’d you feel about the line play in the pre season game?
-
Agree with all of that. I think the culture is dying, and this year with guys gone and soon with guys like biggie/ba/thomas/neuf gone it will be a fraction of its former self. (I think maybe one of those guys plays next year.) we need the next guys up in terms of culture and tone setters. the coaching progression is well set up with buck and jy locked in. I have no doubt that if we lost any of the big 3 mafia guys we would stay what we are. I feel like Walter’s and co made moves this off season to limited mos’ ability to have up jumped role guys to be a crutch. They may need to take another step to limit mos ability to put out sub optimal rosters. People have argued that we didn’t have the talent in camp in the past, which I don’t agree with. But this year, basically every one sees the talent is there to fill our holes and go next man up. If we cut a bunch of the lbers dl etc this year and run out ends who can’t get pressure dts who can’t close gaps etc the pressure will mount quickly. If we see minor injuries like to bo mount into multi game stints and longer I think it’ll be on as well. Winning isn’t enough in this market any more. That’s expected. We have the pieces to move forward and extend this dynasty into a long term thing.
-
That’s more that fair imo. And I don’t think that the change needed is firing mos, I think he might need reigning in.

He is primed for a spot in the hall of shame as a destroyer. I hear the gliebermens are going to do his induction speech -
I feel like this would have been the case, but that Lawson injury’s for instance has hurt the progress of killing the old boys club a bit. If Lawson was healthy I think Jake starts out on the 6 game. for sure. I think the question is at what point does it stop being worth it? If we are a play off team that doesn’t make the cup? And how many cups in a row can you lose with out making changes? Being the first place loser has serious diminishing returns.
-
Agree thats all what is likely. Brady, Demski, woli, 3 ol, jake ford and I think ba won’t be back especially early it’ll be Hallet/kelly at S. so it could well be 10 ni starters with gauthier. With a di at K Kr and should be DE, I’m hopeful the last will be a lber. With karamoko and Kramdi as back ups. Letting us start Moses gemmel petrishen, di another and pr the last. Roster wise I’m worried about the lack of news around Brady. I don’t think we gave any snaps to an imp rb last week. Augustine struggled with blitz pick up a lot and we need good pass pro at rb with all the ol changes.
-
Yep. And dru brown was worse. Just as jittery, but he couldn’t even handle snaps or hand offs. Now he’s the next big thing potentially in the league.
-
Might but if he’s on the ir the can’t practice and I don’t think can be in film/meetings. Though that might be one of those rules no one follows. Gotta be patient with some qbs. I think it all comes down to his attitude and coach ability.
