  1. Only thing I can think with Sergio to make room is that they want to wait till after a practice or two to make a bigger batch of cuts rather than squeeze one out now.
  2. https://3downnation.com/2024/05/21/edmonton-elks-select-dl-antonio-alfano-in-cfl-supplemental-draft/ elk grab a pretty good raw prospect for an 8th rounder. Surprised no one offered more what better value do you get with 6th or 7th
  3. 100% baffled too. The knock on him was he was raw and needed a good bit of polish, and a lot of his fall was based on weight/speed combination. Im sure Marty has done a good bit of work with him. But for progress that fast he probably has really focused on being more sound due to excel at this level. He could get by with ease on size and athleticism in college. Some times increased competition is what a guy needs to hit the next level and some times that happens fast. In One of the interviews with him here, he was asked about weight. He said the bombers didnt mention his weights at all. They clearly weren’t concerned with his speed. He said he’s cut down on his own but isn’t going crazy with it. He’s just eating a bit better. Hence the being down about 9-10lbs. I think at 315 ish he’d have elite speed for an interior ol.
  4. He was 344 at the combine. it is for the cfl. Neufeld is 310 and 6’6.
  5. There are not a lot of 344lbs guards in the cfl lol our other guards top out at 310. Dobson had to go down in weight from 330 despite being able to dunk at that weight.
  6. Great points all around. I think mos needs to be surrounded with the right COs. Plop was a great guy to support him early, buck has been better for his fit now. I think JY will be an improvement as he will want to do more and want more roster assets imo. I already liked a lot of what I saw from JY in our front 7 usage as well. I don’t think that’s been raised either, JY let his lbers blitz for pressure not to eat a blocker up and other wise had them running around making plays. He moved fox and Lawson around on techniques to great affect as well. Considering the situation I thought buck called a good game as well. Saw some nice wrinkles set up
  7. I didn’t get a look back at it. Cover 3 would mean he was way out of position when his role is basically to stay with the deepest guy. But we and the league do run a lot of cover 3. The stadium cam made it really hard to judge coverage. Especially when it’s back ups vs starters and the starters are running overload blitzes. Great experience for their guys though.
  8. Yeah. Personally I’d cut one and bring in one or two new kr guys. They did catch the ball. And only one made a bad mental mistake. I wouldn’t be surprised if we do a small to medium round of cuts this week. We usually do this to prioritize getting reps for guys who are at the forefront of positional battles and to bring in new guys. such a great group of young talented earth movers inside. If neuf isn’t good to go I would’ve started 3 imp ol before that game. Right now Wallace would be more than fine to start. If he keeps it up teams are gonna be kicking them self for passing on him. Yeah Dobson looks a bit more trim and just looked comfortable. Which let him play with that aggression he brought in college. The stadium is gonna be the original pancake house with the next generation of ol we have.
  9. I did a rewatch of the Strevy portion of the game, focusing on the line. on second watch Wallace was even better than my initial viewing. He was excellent in pass pro and run blocking, moved his man with command and scored two pancakes. He also moved extremely well when pulling and going to the second level. He could start in the league this year. Look forward to seeing if he can keep it up. Lofton was more mobile than when he was with us before, but still can’t handle speed off the edge, and would need a vet like paddy next to him to lead in terms of switches, blitz pick ups etc. didn’t move the pile, and his tipping the play was easy to pick up in the first drive. Kola was his usual self. Good snaps, struggled with guys on the nose and cross face. Dobson was cruising and mashing. All his snaps looked good too. Augustine struggled with picking up the blitz and block/release. Strevy also struggled to read blitz pre snap. Cruickshanks play failing to get out of the end zone was sketchy too. Then he had a miss que on offense late as well. Smith is the front runner imo, both cruickshank and Blackmon are as likely to play the next game as being cut imo
  10. That sums it up well imo. And I assume the default RT is and will be lofton.
  11. In that case you can’t give him much credit for winning though. The team was flat in the last two gcs and guys played who shouldn’t have. He’s not top of the list but he’s on it.
  12. Yep, just 5 rb hand offs. I feel like the idea was to evaluate the ol in run protection as well as wr/qbs. I don’t think they are worried about the guys we have succeeding in run pro. Im in pre season mode too. Don’t worry I’ll make some cuts and get the top 3 down to 4 or 5 for the regular season lol
  13. Bare minimum yeah. In the modern game you need line play second only to qbing. Make the ratio work put a line out that keeps your qb upright. Play 6 ol like ham did with June jones if you need to.
  14. Solid arm, we didn’t take any deep shots with any qb really. He struggled early but adjusted and bounced back. Impressive poise for a rookie. His mobility was good, better than brown. If he’s our qb3 I’d feel fine with it. Hope to see him finish the next game and start out a bit more composed. All the qbs seemed to be tossing a bit behind and low today. I think the lack of full contact practices hurts qbs ability to get the off season rust off.
  15. It’s a good move for a team that can’t draft develop or sign an ol
  16. Any one know if the game is being uploaded any place for a re watch?
  17. That’s a great question. I think it was some thing like 2/3s plop 1/3 Nicholls early to mid and ended up 50/50 post nichols injuries. With buck, pre injury nichols would’ve been real interesting. I think at that point we would need some wr talent but we might’ve developed it too.
  18. That’s really about throwing guys open, leading them, and them trusting the qb enough go speed turn blind and go for yards. We didn’t do any of that stuff. Dresssler used to get killed on quick passes. We ran a lot of screen and short passes designed to catch and fall over for 5 yards or less.
  19. I thought Wallace would have to lose 25lbs to play like he did.
  20. Lofton was tipping pass/run plays really badly. He played T like a guard honestly. Not horrible one on one, but couldn’t sad just to the blitz to save the qbs life. Coleman was solid but played with a real make shift ol against a lot of blitzes. Keith was not as good. I didn’t watch the ol play as much after Streveler left as I planned. Barryeh took any chance of guys succeeding or getting into a groove away. I don’t put much stock in the performances after Strevy left. We also did not run much. A lot of decisions will have to be made based on tc, and game 2 on the ol.
  21. You the real mvp. No one can compete with that. Truth. I wonder how strevy would’ve done here in his first go around if he had current buck as his oc the whole time. For that fact, I wonder what Matt nichols and our whole offence then would’ve looked like.
  22. There’s a ton of really knowledgeable posters, unfortunately some don’t post much any more but like booch says we have a tremendous group on here. 100%. Mos is open about his limitations and what he does. He believes the culture over comes talent. I believe even he realizes this year we’ve past the tipping point. In the nba last year the raptors ran back a team full of vets with limited upside. They did it based on loyalty. fans and people around the league knew the raptors were past it. But Masai knew those guys since they were kids. He picked and groomed them. He thought they had chance and deserved to play it out. There isn’t a better basketball guy in the nba. Some times being too close to the situation blinds great minds. Or brings them to act against a teams best interest. We’ve been making decisions like that. With mos we have to walk the line between being competitive/developing guys and being loyal to old guys. That, is the single more relevant discussion point around the bombers. People forget that mos was on the hot seat Here with a sub .500 record. If we didn’t fluke out with collaros we have no ships, and a different hc. Mos deserves tons of credit and is the goat of bomber coaches. No one is beyond questioning though especially in sports. Zach is the bomber qb goat imo, and he has been real questionable in the play offs.
  23. Saw a couple calls that especially by pre season standards gave me great hope for his usage here. qft. People blamed strevy in his second year for limitations instead of the trash play calls.
  24. Talent instantly recognizes genius, whereas mediocrity knows nothing higher than it self. One can argue personality, approach etc, but can’t argue knowledge and understanding of the game. There’s a handful of guys with high level understandings of the game and of certain aspects of it.
