  1. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/chauncey-rivers/32005249-5643-7618-72e5-8964dd14fd15 Plays like Habba, but bigger stronger guy. Really strong tackler, a guy whose talent isn’t easily measured. Has tremendous upside. If weed wasn’t the issue that it is in some states and the ncaa, he would’ve stuck at Georgia and probably been a mid to late draft pick. interestingly he was signed traded and cut in the ufl all in a couple weeks this year. Interesting camp guy, boom or bust prospect.
  2. Qft. Happy for more money to the team other wise.
  3. That would be a much stronger point, if we hadn’t seen a string of awful returnmen before grant as well. We frequently bring in dbs with return man experience as well. Our prototype db is athletic play makers. Same with RBs. I hope we haven’t moved on from grant but it sure seems like it. Another benefit is lucky is a fifo guy. Kr in the cfl is as much about execution as talent and dynamic play making. If we have a high upside guy who is translating that to the field here in camp and pre season, a guy like lucky can help coach them up. Maybe ease them into full time duty.
  4. We have. But we’ve also brought in a ton of guys while grant has been out and they’ve all been terrible. Veteran competition would be great and give us a high floor.
  5. Bc is for sure moving on from lucky, wonder if he/we would be interested in a vet min deal to compete for a kr job.
  6. The lions are experts at picking through our ol left overs lol. The riders are expertly bad at it. Ringmaiden has contributed a ton of talent scouting and managing. And doman has been great as an owner. But the lions are still building a team that keeps getting worse on the field and in culture. I feel like change is gonna be brewing for them as soon as they dip in performance.
  7. I bet he gets in a fight with the mirror in his bathroom each morning
  8. Good move for every one. Hope we get a game to honour him be great to see him run out onto the field one more time.
  9. Physically he’s the only back with that potential. No idea if he has the skill set head set etc for teams and blocking. It’d be phenomenal to have a guy who can do both jobs though as a ni. I’m pretty sure every team in the league is pinching pennies to find a way to sign him.
  10. Damn you’re right. Could’ve played every position for jones!
  11. With Chris jones being Chris jones and us having 3 picks in the top 20, I wonder if either side would entertain a trade? Dublanko would be a great fit for us and could learn under and beside biggie. Instead of having to be an immediate starter he could be a heavy rotation guy which could allow us to get more games out of biggie and kyrie. Jones would probably want a pick or two and an imp player but I think we could make a decent trade for both sides. I’d also be interested in moving up to another spot if it meant we got to lock in our pick of Dumoulin Duguay, una, and hergel.
  12. sack did really mess him up though. It took a long time to over come that first stretch. I’d be surprised if they did too. Only way I see it is if it’s a fb with another position. A rb, a te type who can play wr etc. and I don’t think we will even do that. To me, it would make a lot of sense to bring back Konnor burtenshaw, and Daniel petermann. Pete is 28 and a fa. Then spend late picks on another wr and maybe fb to bring into camp. Cole Adamson was being moved to ol, but he’s undersized and pretty athletic. If he could execute fb stuff that’d be an easy way to get a spare ol on the roster with out losing out. Any athletic undersized lineman would be a decent candidate to fill that roster spot.
  13. 1k yards in 2 seasons is not a success indicator. That’s pretty much replacement level 6th wr stuff. Spending a first on that isn’t great value. Both have upside still but if it doesn’t happen in year 3 it isn’t likely to happen. If that’s the high water mark of success, then you might be better off drafting a fb rather than a wr where you have a 1/5 chance over 10 years of getting the last wr on the roster.
  14. How many combined receiving yards do the philpots have in their career 900? 500 combined last year? Between the 6 years of all three they have what 2k yards? Considering that’s the best first round for WRs in the league in about a decade that’s not much of an endorsement. Not many firsts have been wasted on FBs atleast. Wr is a trap pick in the first round of the cfl draft.
  15. I wonder what is historically a worse pick in the first round of the cfl draft, a fb or a wr. Fb is probably worse but not by that much I imagine. I’d be fine if we took two ol instead of ol and fb even. We need a wr or two but I don’t think it needs to be a huge investment.
  16. This, or any sports forum likely won’t be a happy place then.
  17. My cos play analyst says once the first team picks an ol, the panic run in ol will begin. With a good 5 out of 7 picks following it being an ol. I’d love to see us grab a couple guys who will be in nfl camps refill the futures cupboard in the mid or late parts of the draft. But if we get one guy who becomes a starter and two decent role guy that will be a big win.
  18. It sure seems like both drafts are great candidates to fill out gaps if we can manipulate the draft and get quality picks at positions of need. This could well be a team that is much better in the final 1/3rd of the season as well.
  19. Pretty much. If we see an improvement in pass pro, which frankly I expect, we will be in good shape. If however we can find an impact player especially in the front 6, that’s a game changer. We need to replace JJ full time, instead of half time, but I think we will manage. Teams is going to be a battle to watch in camp as well. Going to be tough if we struggle kicking off/punting and covering especially if grant isn’t back to over compensate for a lot of field position.
  20. Right now I think we are an 11 win team still in the late season battle for first/second in the west with bc. But if our ol doesn’t replace rt well, or find a new impact player on D that could be plus or minus 2 very easily even before injuries are considered. I think this will be the closest the top teams have been in the cfl in years. All the play off teams could be with in like 2 wins of each other.
  21. Back to back choke jobs. Should have 4x gc wins in a row including one in igf west.
  22. 5.1 40 for a 320 plus pound guard is actually good. It’s about 90th percentile in the nfl. The average nfl guard runs almost a 5.4 while weighing 314. 7 guards were faster this year at the nfl combine and not insanely. In the range of a tenth of a second. I find it interesting that we are looking at an imp who likely only projects as a guard.
  23. That was the entire point of the comment and response prior to yours. I mentioned in the previous post he made the pro bowl after leaving here…
  24. He was a pro bowler after his return to the nfl from Winnipeg. Not in his first stint when we left Edmonton.
