  1. "What are we going to do with 40 Line backers?!" "Great hands, but can't run" "Hes super athletic! but cant do football things" "Did we just draft another long snapper?" "Best teams guy in the draft"
  2. I think his arm looks worse than it is because of his motion. It looks very high effort and slow, then the velocity is just ok out of his hand. When he shortens his throwing motion, or changes his release angle it has the same velocity. Release speed strong impacts the perception of zip. Arm strength will never be his strength, but he has plenty to make the throws. I’ll take that frozen rope touch over a rocket launcher any day. I think the big question for him up here is how well he adjusts to the nuances up here. Timing with the waggle will be a real challenge, not to mention the wide throws.
  3. Yeah, pretty heady move to have him on the NL for a while. Sure can, if a guy like this takes the humble pie right look out. I really don't think he's the type of kid to sit around for a year hoping for a tryout or a shot, too. The UFL winding down really plays into our hands with him. Guys who excel at throwing downfield 50/50 balls tend to do well in the CFL. Guys who can use superior placement/touch to turn 50/50 match-ups into 60/40 or better are extremely valuable. I see potential to be a better than guy.
  4. Yeah I mean I hope so. This is a great draft class to restock the lines on in the first 2-3 rounds. Also, I'd love to see us draft a DB who has the potential to run and cover at half/corner etc. Not just a teams guy, but someone who can be a rotational piece. Snafu for the national cfl "media"
  5. It's not a strong class at all for WRS, but it does have a fair few projects. Because it is otherwise a strong, deep draft, we can probably go after WRS in the 3rd/4th range, and still get someone worth trying to develop. Some guys like Meiga, Jack, and Djete have the athletic tools to try to polish. Others like Owen, Udoh, Houde, Britton, and Sibley have game day tangibles that could see them useful early on. I always expect the athletic kids and the NCAA kids to be in a rookie camp. So you might draft 2 of those guys and have 1 in camp, then 1 late preseason. For our need at WR, I'd be fine with that while spending 2 mid to back half picks. Maybe you go after the one you really like with the 24th pick then wait and see who is available in the 4th-6th round of the rest. With 4 picks in the top 24, I could see us going 2DL even. Our need at DL is that big. As long as we get a top ol and dl that we target, the rest of the draft should be pretty easy to fill up on wants, projects, and lotto tickets.
  6. His lack of dominant measurable athleticism is gonna kill any chance for him to run around in the NFL. Imo, he is gonna be rookie camp fodder for them. For the toxicity, I'll say he reminds me a whole hell of a lot of young BLM. AC, and a bunch of other top-tier CFL QBs. If he were 6'-6'1, this kid would've been drafted and gotten millions guaranteed. He did everything he possibly could, was maybe the best qb in college football over the last 2 years, and no team even wants to give him a contract for camp. He's got a chip on each shoulder the size of hardrick. And his ego got punched right in the mouth. So I get why he's getting the rep and the red flag claim, but honestly, I think it's the same as every other QB in college who played remotely at that level. It's been what 14 years since the last Heisman finalist didn't get drafted? And that was prio fa signing. How he bounces back from that adversity will speak volumes. If he puts his head down and focuses on outworking, everyone takes it in stride and keeps going. He isn't gonna be a headspace problem. He isn't Manziel, its kind of funny that he's working with him and all that, but this kid isn't that. Manziel was a party animal who loved winning but not enough to put in the work. Pavia is a chess player to Manziels ' poor checkers player. The thing I see that I don't like is his wind-up/release speed. Now, on play action and a few plays where he has to get it out fast, he does that much better. You coach him to lose the pause/hitch in his throwing motion full-time, and he's the best you could ever hope for in a CFL QB prospect. I would've been pretty open to trading the rights to Elgersma, Id be far more reluctant to swap Pavia away. A team would have to really break the bank with an offer. This is the kind of Canadian draft where a team could offer that level of value, though. There's more online to watch this kid than every QB prospect we'll see in over a decade combined. And right now, I'd say the chances are very good he won't be in an NFL TC. Sounds like every youngish player on every team in pro sports tbh.
  7. 3DownNationCould CFL be next for Diego Pavia after NFL draft snub? -...It doesn’t seem unrealistic that Heisman Trophy finalist Diego Pavia could end up in the CFL in the relatively near future. The highly-touted collegiate quarterback went unselected in the recent 2026Pavias rights have become significantly more interesting. Passed on in the draft and not in the first wave of priority free agents yet. Hard to imagine him not getting a camp invite atleast. surprised no one is talking a shot on him
  8. If we manage to get 2nd/3rd de/pass rusher worth a damn we are easily top. That is assuming we play the best players on d, which I think we are well set up to do reasonably well.
  9. 100%. I expect us to be a real tough team to play this year. As always health will play a big factor. Qbing will dictate how good we will be. Best case scenario, zach has one more magic run in him with a blm/harris like resurgence. In which case we are a top contender. Worst case, zach is done/injured and we have a gritty tough team that only wins ugly. maybe the most likely situation is zach is the best we’ve seen in 2-2.5 years but does not return to his peak level. Then we have a 18/19 type team but with the sporadic ability to put up a blow out on any one.
  10. love them sleeping on us. If we don’t get vaccaro, I’d sure like henning
  11. That guy is a talent that demands a call and consideration from every team in the league. He'd instantly elevate any DL considerably.
  12. yep he’s too smart to be fast lol
  13. 1 earned modp, 1 default. If it was just his career here, he wouldn’t get a sniff of the hof. lots of guys got rings. His bc career is hof material by it self. That stretch was one of the best by any lber ever.
  14. Im a bit surprised biggie went out a bomber and not a lion. I love the guy and he had a couple big years here. But nothing like what he did in BC.
  15. Yep, they love his intangibles. Outside of decent hands he doesn't have any pro wr traits. Gonna be soo gutted if we push him over clercius.
  16. That or they reach in the draft and push a guy early. Now, this draft is not a strong WR draft at all. But even outside of the top 2-3, who are alright, you have a mix of guys who either have size/hands or have strong measurables. Taking from either group is about as good as ajou any way, imo. The gap between the 2-3 top tiers of wrs in this draft isn't huge. They all got question marks and need development. If we don't get Cenacle or Demontagnac, getting 2 mid tier guys would be pretty good. Like Djete (though some one will reach for him), Gavin owen who would offer a ton of early value as a teams guy too, Or sibley, or mcbean. I could also see us falling in love with Ojutalayo for his teams value as well.
  17. It is, but I don't think the ALS takes any moral flaw seriously. I'd note that Chad did not shut up and do everything he was supposed to. He spoke out against his punishment twice, failed to meet the terms of his deal on time, and didn't he have an incident at a college or hs game he was attending while he was suspended? For real, he's a slightly bigger Corcoran with one of the biggest character red flags in football.
  18. Thats true, but he could sign and challenge the suspension just like Lemon did.
  19. Short yardage is 99% having a brain and effort. KG was the best short-yardage QB we've seen. Wasn't worth the injuries, though. Currently, yeah in modern terms. 2016 is the next best right now. That year didn't pan out as aggressively as it could've but it gave us a massive and badly needed influx of ni talent at the right positions. (Loffler, Corney, Couture, and Gauthier.) 2024 has the potential to be that kind of draft for us as well. Wallce, MCI, Clercius, Leroux, and if Manu hits it up here.
  20. my hope is that the biggest reason we picked him and did it early was we liked the intangibles from the interview and conversations with his coach. If the kids soft skills are as good as his raw arm talent, he’s got as good a chance as it gets. I don’t expect any thing of value on the field this year from him. I’m hoping he shows a bit more of what he did in nfl pre season, but mainly that he shows great strides between now and next years camp.
  21. Nailed it. When Ajous suspension is up, how long before the als sign him? I Bet they already made the call lol
  22. Few monthes after rourke comes up to the riders, we will all be sick of hearing about canadian qbs across the whole league.
  23. I don't think we will even get a decent idea of how good he is/can be this year. He's extremely toolsy but just as raw. I suspect he will be glued to qb4 or qb3 spot this year unless something crazy happens. Either moving him up, or failing one of those early practice red flag checks.
  24. i’ll never get a better offer then that, i would’ve taken the empty cup! you think we could get all that for zach and his contract?
