True. eh, that happens to every team. I don’t think stuff like that from years back really plays a factor. Calvillo would be a great pick, idk if he will want to leave mtl just now. Took a while for him to get to this point being a really good oc. Plus he’s at home. -
If we protect zach he can win the attack

Our guys have played well below their standards this year. Especially lawler who is hit or miss, and Demski who is no longer used in multi dimensional ways. Wilson does his job, but I don’t see any thing outstanding with him. Fact is Demski is prone to fumbling especially at bad times. King Kenny lawler showed up for less than a handful of games this year. The riders gave a good edge at wr in terms of size and physicality. I don’t want their wr core, but I see them with a bit of an edge.

I think Ottawa is a sleeper pick. Love dyce but that semi final is fire worthy. Buck has a good established relationship with brown. I could see coach O and Hamilton going separate ways too. It’s a real low chance, but bc could fire maksymic, and offer buck more money to make a lateral move to be oc/ast hc. If he retires, I’d go after Masoli for the coaching staff. Ideally as a qb coach. He has been part of some tremendous coaching lineages up here and down south. -
Dl - riders lbers - no advantage dbs - wpg ol - wpg small advantage QBs - no advantage rbs - wpg WRs - riders small advantage kr - riders Punt/cover - wpg small advantage Kicking - wpg coaching - wpg plus home field advantage, and tremendous record after a bye.

Players don’t get hate and blame for losing? You should go re read the first 2 months of the seasons posts on zach, or watch Matt nichols cry talking about getting booed off the field. Or go back to any of the kicked discussion pre Sergio.

That’s the rum hut lol.

I haven’t seen this much projecting since the drive in on the perimeter closed.

I do not think Mac wants any part of that. His current job is a dream role for him. Harvey is a huge front runner imo. Simon yeah I could see taking off the interim tag. -

Dru has the best improvement arc of any qb I’ve seen -
Nah just preparing for the worst. (I’d put Taylor on for bridges) that was about the worst thing I could think of. But he leads the league in picks water 5 weeks! lol

It’s a good question. I’ll say this, Eli came back from a career ending injury to start his pro career. And then he came back when 99% of the people in the market gave up on him after Covid. So I think he will continue that way even if he ends up hurt again and win just based on that. Now some one else might step in and cause him to be our perma 6th guy. But I think it’s only a matter of time. Also while kola has been a picture of health, sloppy body guys in their 30s don’t stay healthy. -

https://3downnation.com/2024/11/04/nine-candidates-to-be-the-next-gm-of-the-edmonton-elks/ i think it’s a 3 horse race with ringmaiden, Ted, and most likely Ed. Most of that list is really funny or sad. -
He rubbed every one raw. You’re correct that he was ahead of the curve in those areas. But his treatment of media, and any scrutiny was that of a child mad with power. We would’ve lost some of the coverage in terms of injury specifics and struggles in camp/practice. But we would’ve gotten some coverage. Not the, “we didn’t realize so and so didn’t even show up for camp for 2-3 weeks” stuff. we went from an extreme in terms of access, and freedom for those covering the bombers, to the micro managed control freak nightmare, back to a reasonable environment. But the freedom from Kelly brought in the old boys club righting fluff era. The old guys just didn’t have it in them to go back at it with piss and vinegar. Now the mafia is back to a tight grip, though not dickish, and basically control the media narrative.

They aren’t the only Canadians doing those jobs in the league. Other teams aren’t handicapping them self. Is Danny maciocia doing that? Other teams have to add an ni for an imp due to injury they make use of that imp else where. -

If you really wanna lose your mind, remember we’ve rolled with an extra ni on D for a huge amount of the snaps this year. Late, it’s been ni S for Alexander. We didn’t use that to swap another ni for an imp. We could’ve gone with out an ni on the dl, or gone with an extra imp on the ol. Which would’ve helped a ton. -
I really really love reading great writers and listening to great story tellers. Ed Tait is as good and talented as any writer you will find in media, in any era. His narrative voice in writing is superb. He’s one of the few newsmen who is as good on radio and tv. Back in the day at the freep, his reviews and write ups of practices and camps were extraordinary. He’s asked the team smart, hard, thought provoking questions. I totally get why he took this job. He gets to do what he loves all the time with all the job security. He pulls his punches now and is a part of the guys who was taking it easy in the time before. Bob did it too, turner. Also, the reason the media is broken, is not entirely their fault. We all know how badly it was broken by Kelly. It’s never bounced back from that, and the success brought more fluff and relaxation rather than raising the level of coverage.

That isn’t the reality. Remember Josh Johnson starting soo many games this year? Biggie? Jake? I could go on. Simple fact is, best player doesn’t play or start. Certainly part of the reason why. We’ve made double changes like this to ensure we don’t end up with out a 2nd centre many times. Even though we’ve never actually ended up with an out of position centre in the modern era, and Dobson can play it in a pinch too. Kola also gets the loyalty, and is never hurt. It’s possible the whole Eli missing a gc and a season over a jab is an issue. Eli has also been banged up atleast once this year. They may not trust his health as an every down C. Even when he was forced in at guard twice this year we swapped back on the next series when linemen didn’t come back to move other positions around and keep Eli on the bench. Even throwing in Wallace to g as a rookie. Another thing is we value the 6th, 7th ol, and fb a great deal more than any other team. (Which is not wrong and I’m not saying it is). They look at 6th ol as a starter. Short yardage blockers are worth a di to the mafia. That’s huge. Where it’s wrong, if you don’t trust Eli physically or other wise giving him a 3 year deal after sitting a year is un acceptable. You don’t need a bench C when you have a G who can shift over. Good snaps, staying healthy, etc does not counter the inability to block any one 1on1, or being able to deal with cross face, twists, stunts, etc. I fully believe that the fact kola has very seldom muffed a snap (2-3 times here max) is a difference maker. I think mos is more scared of terrible snaps than he is of kola turnstiling inside. Yeah I get that, me too. I also hoped that Lawson would replace Jake too. When Eli is in he’s a road grader. He hasn’t past the mustered at guard. Often times it takes an injury for a boys club guy to be replaced. No matter the performance level. And kola simply has not been hurt here. Guys a tank. -
Haven’t seen that in a long while. I’m not holding my breath ion seeing it again tbh.
