  1. That’s wrong. He started all his games as a junior and sophomore ar Maine at right guard. And he played at 4 different spots in texas as they had a rash of injuries and inconsistency at ol. But you also swore he was up weight when he very clearly dropped from his college time. https://goblackbears.com/sports/football/roster/liam-dobson/4743
  2. If any thing I think he’s bc bound. im not sure ssk understands that they actually need to build an ol and dump the junk. I wouldn’t be surprised to see atleast 4 starting ol and fajardo all back this year.
  3. Dobson also had iirc two starts at tackle reps in Texas. Often happens with elite interior ol on mediocre ol.
  4. I don’t blame you or any one else. I still have those feelings especially seeing Canadian flags on cars etc but I don’t want to derail things into the political. agree 100% Good on you for owning it too, that’s hard and most people don’t try. Hats off sir. Yeah for sure. It’s hard to comprehend getting one shot refusing the second and missing the gc because of it.
  5. Qft. If any one looks back at the posts from 2022 that involved him you see a ton of vitriol, dismissal of his talent, ethic etc.
  6. Wonder if he was hurt and didn’t want surgery. That could be why it took soo long to rehab. Just a wild guess though. Did he have a kid? Imagine if desjarlais came back and we had drew eli and Dobson on the inside. Half the posters on this board would get 5 yards a pop. the fact it’s a 3 year deal is big to me. He’s a stud and that screams they trust he’s healthy and as good as ever. To me this really sounds like they don’t expect couture back. Dobson is a natural guard who can play centre. Eli is a guard who could start at any inside spot in the league but is best at center.
  7. https://3downnation.com/2023/01/17/lamar-goods-highly-touted-son-of-former-cfl-all-star-bennie-goods-transfers-to-manitoba-bisons/ this I guess?
  8. I think biggie would be fine at wil but he can’t be the guy who fills a gap on every running play any more. People think it’s speed he’s losing but it’s quickness and explosiveness. He doesn’t get off the ball quick any more. He can still scrape as close to side line to side line as any one. having no nose made Willy jeffcoat and biggie struggle. People forget how many big runs we gave up while stove was out in 21. Teams gouged us but the rest of the d was just soo damned good. When stove came back it turned the defense up to 11. Drake Nevis coming in was a huge turn around in the first place for our d.
  9. I think this teams major needs are more likely to be filled by a rookie namely that nose tackle. But also a depth pass rusher, db as always, etc.
  10. I thought it averaged out to 550k. And I believe they used the remaining bonus cap to front load cash to further minimize his yearly cap hit. That’s what I recall atleast though cap info in the cfl is mysterious at the best of times. The big difference imo is that it is much easier to budget around an expensive qb when you have a great team. Having a good team and then trying to add elite qb money is gonna be soo hard especially to do with out getting worse little on getting better. Faj is going to be the funny one to watch imo. I like Masoli and ott has a lot going on for them. But man I wouldn’t want to rely on him to be qb1.
  11. Again the pieces aren’t available for a bad team to rebuild their ol or get a game changing qb in fa. Unfortunately the suck teams have only a lottery chance of getting to the play offs and that lotto ticket isn’t in cfl fa. I mean with that management no free agent class is going to save them.
  12. Given the complete lack of star or even 2nd tier qbs available or the ability to build an ol over night in the cfl you can make a pretty accurate guess at who will suck at least.
  13. Cousin? What is he like 55? I loved kj as a football player. Not the greatest qb but heart physicality and passion for days. hopefully it runs in the family. I can’t wait to see how Dobson develops. I feel like this will be a heavy ol draft for us as well. We usually seem to keep a futures guy kicking around that gives us extra potential and depth for a couple camps/ years.
  14. Honestly if it’s 600k to your starter you run thin at his back up. That’d mean no more vaj imo. It’s only 50k more a year than zach. You can’t even get a guy on league min with the difference. 600k makes it harder 700k is borderline crippling. the lions however we’re going to have a hard off season no matter what. When ever you build around big free agent pick ups with a cheap starting qb it’s going to be hard to sustain once you turn it around. The lions will have to add probably 250k in hard salary at qb and try to keep an insane amount of cap flexibility this coming year. Doing that and maintaining your core will be a nightmare doing that and improving will be impossible with out hitting the lotto on rookies. It’s going to be an insanely hard off season for the Leo’s. Do you go all in on a blm or over pay a harris do you cut guys mid season if rourke gets cut? Do you run that much under the cap? It guts their ability to compete in free agency this year too. Who wants to sign with a team in that qb situation? I would love to see the stats on how often starter quality or better qbs go to the nfl and then return to their previous team. I feel like the returnees would be in the minority.
  15. Soo quickly lions fans forget the damage of an over priced qb. I hope they do give him 700k or some thing crazy. Good luck putting that roster back together and just maintaining the same level of competitiveness then. I wouldn’t stand behind that ol, deal with that toxic atmosphere or crappy coaching. Not to mention the cesspool that is the media and fan base.
  16. I suspect he will be back in time for camp. Likely a finish out the year kine of deal. It’s a great opportunity for him to go down south and get practice reps and coaching vs nfl wrs.
  17. No he doesn’t. You’re letting hateorade blind your judgement. His arm strength is good. His accuracy on short to intermediate routes is solid and he’s shown flashes of strong touch. He hasn’t had any support to excel since he’s gone pro. Despite that his lowest completion percentage as a pro is 61%. You don’t excel like he did passing in college make it to the cfl then stick in the nfl this long with out an arm. if he was given half the chance and support fajardo has been given he’d be the second best qb in the cfl. picture perfect over the shoulder shots into the end zone threading the needle and a bunch of perfect passes under pressure hitting guys in stride leading them down field
  18. Thanks for posting this. honestly it looks really good. Few guys we need back but a lot of great work done by the front office already. You always go into fa these days with a couple guys you really want back not under contract. Yoshi couture jeffcoat sayles and demski are big needs. Mcg Darby grant Bailey and ellingson all various degrees of want back. The ni lbers would be nice too. I think grant is gone though. Probably Darby too.
  19. https://3downnation.com/2023/01/05/former-riders-assistant-coach-stephen-sorrells-defends-offensive-line-following-departure/ Stand up guy. Feel bad for him he never stole a chance with the talent they gave him and the toxic atmosphere. Gotta respect a guy who isn’t even employed by the team any more but still stands up for his guys and takes the blame. Not saying he’s a great coach or that he isnt. Idk. But he gets props from me for being a good person and sounds like a good leader. Hope he gets work else where.
  20. At some point they have to change right? I’ve never seen a team request ast and positional coaches for interview and been denied by those coaches soo many times. They were already the worst coached and disciplined team in the league and it’s only going to get worse.
  21. The will is never what fails in a guy like that. It’s always the body. He would play into his 50s if his body would allow it. Ditto. Great pick up. I wasn’t sure he would sign soo fast being here for a short term. But I mean jy is an excellent coach and this system puts dbs in a position or make plays.
  22. I get the push to be younger. More upside and room to improve. At the same time if you cut too much of the tip age bracket you can ruin the culture of a locker room. we need to be better on the ol in 2023 than we were in 2022. They finished strong through a lot of injuries. Hardrick and Bryant are a big part of the heart and soul of this team. personally, I hope Richmond is finally healthy and able to step in if/when one of our tackles needs a couple weeks to recover from an injury. Or see gray really get a chance to develop at T. I’d love to see Dobson take over at guard or even center. I expect that every starter that resigns here will start next year out of camp as long as they are healthy. And legitimately I think better health at a couple positions and more development from our guys will still take us far.
  23. Seemed like it yeah. It was really odd. Trying not to punt singles but not really coffin corner either. Just ugly. Idk if that was our game plan maybe max hang time.
  24. This. Net average of 24.6 yards per punt. Better off throwing deep balls and picks than punting at that point. Torontos starting position sunk us the whole day even on kick offs 58.5 avg yards on kick offs. Bede averaged 72.7 yards per kick off and their punter put up 49 per punt. Grant is the only thing that kept field position close. Legs put up 39 gross per punt. That means Toronto out gained us 10 yards on every punt and 14 per kick off. That’s huge in a 1 point game. Argos starting field position after our first drive a two and out was their 50. They got two first downs and kicked a fg. I’m always in favour of bringing in an extra leg for camp. When you have a medlock bring in a young guy with upside. Ideally with a young kicker I’d say bring in a vet. But in this case with our great vet kicks easily available I’d say being in a good us kicker. im confident in our ability to grow with legs. He’s taken big strides. And he played extremely well during the season. Competition brings out to best though.
