  1. By measuring more in-depth variables during games beyond the standard ones (SOG, G, A, P). Team/player possession statistics (corsi, fenwick, PDO), shot attempts, shots/shot attempts for/against, etc. It's still a pretty new concept as far as the NHL goes but it's gained considerable traction the last few years as several teams have adopted analytics to improve their rosters. It's far from perfect but can paint a clearer picture in determining a team's or player's strengths/weaknesses. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-nhl-dives-into-the-advanced-stats-pool/ http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-nhls-analytics-awakening/ https://thehockeywriters.com/future-of-hockey-analytics/ Think Moneyball... Only call it Moneypuck.
  2. This. Did anyone show up when Eric Fehr won with the Penguins? Nope. Honestly, though... Just ignore the troll. The garbage commentary is the same crap he pulls on TEP.
  3. I wonder if Plug Wiecek got in a vote, too. Really, though... Who the hell cares. These polls mean exactly SFA.
  4. Just to give you an idea how important Fleury is to his team: Unreal. Conn Smythe favourite by a mile.
  5. Garbage poll is garbage. Oh, and best of all: totally irrelevant.
  6. Neat. You go ahead and hop on the Vegas bandwagon, then. First it was Minnesota and then it was Nashville. Of course it wouldn't take much for a Yotes fan to jump ship. I generally couldn't care less about a Winnipegger getting a ring, especially so when he's on the team that just eliminated the Jets. I'd imagine any other, if not every Jets fan would agree. He absolutely is. I hung out with him at GC105 last November for a bit when we hit up Riderville. He even got me a few drinks. Hell of a guy and a Blue Bomber Legend.
  7. It isn't. Skunky just likes to troll Jets fans, same as on TEP. Nope. Toews actually gives a damn about the community here.
  8. All valid points but I wasn't talking about this regime's track record in finding QB talent. I was disputing the claim Davis is similar to Bridge; I just don't see the comparison. Bridge seems much better at a younger age.
  9. He's hands down the worst media personality in the CFL. He can't talk football rationally to save his life and he prefers to spend more time dumping on other teams and their players than anything else. He's a childish, classless, pathetic piece of **** and the Riders - and the league a whole - would be better off without him in their employ. The fact he even has a job in radio at all is pretty baffling.
  10. This. A thousand times this. And this. O'Shea is truly a player's coach, IMO.
  11. Members of the media love to find whatever narratives it can and Scott Oake is no exception. It doesn't change the fact it's a stupid one.
  12. She's great and will be an awesome host. And she's a total babe.
  13. The Bomber connection... What a stupid comment. LOL I'd personally like to see Ovechkin, Holtby, and Oshie get a championship. But I'll be happy with it just being a good series and final.
  14. The Bighill signing is absolutely outstanding! What better way to move on from the Douchebag Doubles fiasco than to pick up an elite, experienced MLB and all-around class act in Adam Bighill. Hands down the biggest acquisition of the off-season.
  15. Given up too soon...? Davis was here for three full seasons and accomplished next to nothing when given the opportunity. That's why he was released. Bridge, OTOH, was asked to take a paycut early in his second season in Montreal. He refused and requested his release. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.
  16. If Enstrom does get replaced, it'll be Kulikov who steps in.
  17. It's not like anything else was working, though. I mean, we can crap on Maurice but it's the players who aren't executing on the ice. They simply have be better. For pretty much two straight games save last night's third period, the Jets seem to have underestimated their opponent and they've paid the price for doing so. They need to get back to what's made them successful in previous rounds, a part of that being having a healthy respect for one's opponent.
  18. Then who else's fault was it...? I can't wait to hear (read) this.
  19. Yeah, because he showed so much during his tenure with the Bombers. And yippee, now you're here to troll this forum.
  20. Fleury has been the difference the last two games. Don't get me wrong: the Jets have committed some disgusting errors and most of them have resulted in the puck in the back of their net. They need to get back to playing fast, smart, and tight if they hope to get back into this series. Hopefully, their play in the third tonight is a sign of things to come. Friday is now a must win game.
  21. douchebag /ˈdo͞oSHbaɡ/ 1. a small syringe for douching the hooha, especially as a contraceptive measure. 2. an obnoxious or contemptible person (typically used of a man). 3. Darian Durant Raise your hand if you're a douchebag.
  22. I know what you meant. Based on Toth's tweet, it sounds like he wants to be here and is happy in his current role. So, I can't see him holding out like last time based on those factors.
  23. Well, it isn't like last time. At all.
  24. That's exactly it. A few costly errors and a few bounces that didn't go the home team's way last night. It wasn't like the Jets were horrible for the entire game.
