  1. Past hour
  2. Burke was never cut out to be a hc, he clearly learned that fast. Excellent defensive coach though. Packed it in when he realized he wasn’t gonna rise up. Football has the shortest shelf life for coaches. You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain. The last guys we had that the fan base would’ve preferred keep imo, are coach cal and riley. The stretch of coaches we had after ritchie and before mos was horrid. As was the pre ritchie era. Perpetually the worst coached team. The reality is football evolves faster than other sports, and the talent/athleticism scales like crazy. You can also rebuild a team in a single year. In order to stay on top of coaching at the pro level you need to do an otherworldly job of evolving not just to match the game but also to out pace others. That also makes it harder to have a high enough peak of performance to win ships. Hcing and Ocing are the hardest jobs in coaching. It’s not fair, and many of the very best coaches in all of football are uprooting their life and family every couple years. And for no reason other than the timing didn’t line up well enough for them. We all know the roster management knock. The problem now is much more pervasive. Finer points of execution like tackling and stupid play discipline which where always strengths in the past are weaknesses now. We seldom adjust well any more or have great starts, and we aren the finishers we used to be. our 3rd quarters are handily the worst in the league. We aren’t good with a lead, and don’t play well from behind. We have maxed out how long you can go with out evolving. but don’t seem to recognize that fact.
  3. They look very good with Davis Alexander, so so otherwise. Can they keep him healthy?
  4. I think MTL is likely the best team in the league. Id rather go west and have them in the gc than go there
  5. And Bob Irving on X keeps bragging about how great modern ownership is today.
  6. Yep, that’s been the legacy of the cfl leadership for a long time. the only modern time they made a big swing was the awful expansion era and that was just greed. This one, is very similar to that but more save some teams oriented. No easy solutions, and no desire from the troubled franchises to do any of what’s needed
  7. Today
  8. Jay's are leading 11-0...at the bottom of the fourth
  9. pretty positive that that injury from a couple of seasons ago may have screwed his chances
  10. Burke quit coaching as a Head Coach. He had no talent & he knew it. So, he coached like it. He inspired no one. Great example by the way. Job well done.
  11. The problem with the CFL is they're like a bunch of ostriches. BOG's stuck their heads in the ground ignoring all the issues that caused fans to quit watching & attending games. Thinking that everything will just magically fix itself. Well, these problems never left & half a century later, the league is in a steep decline. Now, they have to do things we never thought possible even a few months ago. It's like the guy who feels a bump in the wrong place & doesn't see a doctor because he's afraid he may have cancer. The problem is, if he doesn't see a doctor because he's scared & it is cancer, he'll have even more problems later. If he sees a doctory & tumour is disgnosed early, treatment may save his life as it was spotted early. Ignoring symptoms will cause more problems than actually seeing the doctor. That's the CFL for you. Ignoring a problem leads to even more problems down the road.
  12. Find me one coach this site didn't complain about? Ok you got me on DC Tim Burke. Everybody loved him. Why don't we try him out at head coach?
  13. This game would have been a Don Cherry VHS video back in the day.
  14. Ville experiment is over...
  15. Fwiw, +7 for a high next Sat in the 780.... Game is 2-5pm so it'll be chilly by the end be of the game. Wife and I are likely headed up there for it... Not sure we'll have the full ice fishing gear on, but wouldn't be far from it...
  16. Here's hoping its a win for us on Saturday.
  17. Gotta beat edm, and it should be a good game. The old trope of the east division being a free pass to the gc every year hasn’t worked out for west teams. That said, I feel like that path would be the best case for us. Hosting a play off game is always a big deal, but the next best outcome imo, is the east.
  18. Yeah, Bombers need to beat the Elks next Saturday. It would clinch them a playoff spot and allows them to control their own fate.
  19. Guess Ford and Chibri are sticking around full time
  20. All very real possibilities... Just have to take care of our own ****.
  21. So interesting to think about, if Hamilton beats Calgary on the 11th, the Bombers control their destiny for the 2nd spot in the West, and that result locks in Saskatchewan to 1st in the west and Hamilton to 1st in the East... so the Week 20 game is a home against a Riders team with nothing to play for but not get injured, and Week 21 is a home game against the Als who have nothing to play for but not getting injured.
  22. Imo, they would work it like mlb used to with the al and nl. You have an inter league stretch and play home stadium rules, then maybe you have a championship tourney mid season out of that like the nba does. If they did a big merge, the ratio 3 downs etc probably all go. It would probably be the death of every thing we hold dear. Time will tell, but i have no faith in this bog/commish as far as protecting/being stewards of our game.
  23. sounds like a hell of a game last night
  24. The UFL season doesn't really work in Canada. Even if it was training camp in April, games May through August.
