CFL quality reffing going on for sure.  Those calls have been ridiculous.

Very one sided and weak calls for sure.

I really think this is the worst officiating I've ever seen in an NHL game. Atrocious.

Jets have been awful and showing zero discipline. Need to be better than that if you want wins vs teams other than the terrible Devils and Bruins.

No doubt, the Jets are playing poorly, especially defensively, but that doesn't mean the refs haven't been awful.

Did Ladd just fan 4 times in the same shift?

Buff sure falls apart when pressure is applied and the speed of the game goes up a notch.  Mental error after mental error when he has to think faster than a plod.  Huge liability in these situations, with dumb penalties and horrible giveaways.

Probably the most one sided officiating game I've seen in a while. Also puck was sure bouncing lots. Barclay's is not good for hockey. Weird angles too.

Pav Wheeler Perreault scheif ehlers and Petan were probably the only ones not hung over. Rest of them weren't good at all.

Buff showed today why he should play forward in games where the other team is fast and moves the puck around.

I believe it was Enstrom's stick that rolled up Tavares' stick and hit him in the face.

Barclay's seats 15,795  for hockey second smallest in the NHL, Nassau 16,170 . Revenue also very limited as the Brooklyn Nets are the main tenant. By the way attendance for today's game was 11,183.

Well the Jets are the worst draw in league probably. But not good if they low again. Wonder how FLA/AZ doing.

Most teams have only played 1 home game some still to play one. FLA/ARZ both sold out their home openers and they seem to be not bad teams to start the season, but there markets will decline in attendance as the season goes on. 

Jets are sold out every game. Yeah the arena is the smallest but it's sold out every game. If your arena seats 18000 and you get 12 13000. That's drawing less than the Jets. Jets can only get 15 and a bit out to games at mts Centre. Just cuz mts is small it doesn't mean the jets are the worst draw in the league. If they had a 17 18000 seat arena they would sell out. You hear a true north and cheering for the jets in every building they play in. In Calgary and Vancouver the Jets seem like they have more fans than the flames and Canucks do when they play. Remember watching jets vs flames in Calgary and if didn't know better... swear the jets were the home team. Jets are a very good draw in lots of markets. Minny. Calgary. Vancouver. Edmonton. Name it. There will be lots of jets fans there.

It's called supply and demand. It works better that way. Why have a 18000 seat arena when 15 and a bit sells out every game. Jets make more money off ticket prices than several teams in the league with bigger buildings. My gf and I were gonna go to a game in Florida last year. Like 150 plane ride and 10 buck tickets. Back when the arena was built true north wasn't as big as they are now also and really there was zero talk of nhl coming back. They built it for the moose and concerts really.

How can anyone who seeks out a sports forum like this still be under the mistaken impression the MTSC is either too small or the city was short-sighted in building it that size?  This has been talked about to death.

 

The city actually insisted the arena be built to the current size.  True North wanted a smaller one at a time when they had no desire to pursue the NHL.  They wanted a "palace" for the Moose that was significantly cheaper than what they got but Glenn Murray held out city money to make sure it was built this size.  Thats why its also very, very cramped.  The negative on the city's part was they did not allow the the arena to build over-hanging the streets on either side, supposedly because they didnt want "tunnels" (even though they have allowed it now for the Convention Centre).

 

Some people seem to think that the Jets generate the same revenue on 15,000 tickets as some of these giant arenas generate on 15,000 tickets and it's not so.  I believe Jets are third highest ticket price in the NHL which means 15,000 tickets here is equal to 18,000 tickets in other places.  But it also creates a huge demand.

 

The Jets could sell out 18,000.  But we have a 15,000 seater so they sell out every game and the price is higher and the demand is greater and we have a massive wait list of people who pay for the privilege of simply having their name on a list.  I think we're fine.

 

If you want to talk about planning for the future, talk about where the next arena will go in about 30 years.  My vote is Portage Place in some sort of development/swap deal.
