Chile produces some good inexpensive red wines.  US Zinfandel is a big red that's not too expensive, 'Old Vines' make a bigger and better wine..    Canuck's make better white's than reds, especially the Kelowna wineries, look for VQA on the label.  Italy and France make good reds and good whites, but the cost is up there due to shipping and taxes.

There's a Hungarian wine called Bull's Blood.  Sold for about $6 back in the day.  Awful awful stuff.  Sour grape juice cut with diesel fuel.

 

Not positive on the price, think it's under $12 - Jacob's Creek is a nice Australian Shiraz.  Tastes about the same as Wolf Blass yellow label and costs $6(?) less.
