Buck Pierce......should Goltz Start?

Buck definitely had a great 1st quarter with his 150 yards and going 12 - 15 or whatever it was...... however the rest of the game in my opinion he looked very shakey.

I'm not an expert but this game he had more protection yet it still seemed like he was throwing without planting his foot and his passes were very wobbly, slow and fairly inaccurate.  Kind of reminded me of Khari in his last days.

I don't want to pile on Pierce but his throws for the most part looked plain ugly and being an arm chair qb their were several times where he had Simpson wide open yet he locked in on his primary receiver and either went down or tossed it into tight coverage.

I would not be opposed if they gave Goltz some play time because I think the offense could work if they had a qb who can actually pull of a quick release without fluttering the ball.

Does anyone know if Max Hall has a decent release?

Should we trade for Glenn,  I know if Glenn played tonight we definitely would of put up much more points because the guys underneath definitely had some room to run if they had the ball.

Any thoughts or am I over reacting on Buck's play?

  • At this exact moment, Buck is the best we have. He proved it last night with some really tough throws. Couple of side-arm bullets over the middle, the one to Denmark on the goal line, and the from-the

  • The defense gave up 29 points, actually ... not 38. And on top of that, let's see just how Montreal scored those points.   7 points off a drive that started in field goal range after a Buck Pierce I

Hopefully this doesn't come off too harsh Spuds (that's certainly not my intent) but it seems like you are working off of a lot of anecdotal evidence here and not looking at the sum of the two perform

that, imo is a huge indictment of how this team has been built by Mack:

to win, the offence and ST has to score a few touchdowns while having almost zero room for making mistakes and meanwhile the defence has to play at a very high level and limit opponent scoring while forcing them to turn the ball over.

if those conditions aren't met, the Bombers have no plan B.

and what options did TO have before Ricky Ray?

we were 9-9 without a QB in 2010... mind you IIRC, Cleo Lemon had numbers superior to anything Buck ever had. so maybe that shouldn't count...

and the bombers were 10-8 in 2011 and in the grey cup game.... Do you actually have a point or just more blind homerism?

just refuting your weak claims as usual. carry on polishing Mack's accomplishments.

And that is exactly the reason people love Buck.. Me included.. But its pretty obvious Buck is no longer the Buck we signed 4 years ago..

Yes, the guy is an ultimate pro who deserves better.... when it comes to injuries.

what's so weak about them? The argos were a team that needed great D, scoring from special teams and their D to force turnovers in order to win games prior to Ray showing up and I don't recall you evey saying how poorly they were constructed. Point is absolutely valid, if you don't have a qb your team is more than likely going to suck unless everything else goes right.

I guess Burke has been reading these threads, I wish we had put goods in from the start but I guess better now then later when the season is really over.
