Matt Nichols back with Edmonton

Signed a two year extension today.

I use the term "signed" loosely, since it's likely been signed for weeks now.

hope he makes it out of training camp this year. I don't think Reilly is going to live through another 18 game pounding like he took this year.

Nichols is a guy I'd like to cheer for when he's not playing Winnipeg. Always like to see a guy rebound after some nasty injuries.

Now that he's locked up for 2 years could he available in a trade?

Trade for whom?  I wouldn't give up too much to get him at this point.

If he's totally healthy he may be underrated as a starter.... Just a thought.

Balls. I was hoping we could pick him up. He's looked real good in limited action.

Right now I am really hoping we can land Collaros and Willy.  It would be hard to pull off since I doubt Willy wants to move to another backup spot (though he could be sold on stepping in if Collaros sucks).  I was hoping Nichols would hit FA but now our options are slowly shrinking.

Every other team in the CFL has an established starter so I think Willy's odds of starting are still better in Winnipeg even if Winnipeg did sign Collaros. Like you said, Collaros still has a lot to prove.

Nichols still has some to prove before I would consider him starter material.  Spot duty over a season ago isn't enough at this point.

I agree - if we can pull off a Willy we should be extremely satisfied.

I think Willy understands his best shot at being a starter is here in Winnipeg, even with Collaros here. But the other question for him is this: if he's not a starter, is getting the #2 job easier in Sasktachewan, where he already has it, or in Winnipeg, over Max Hall? Or is it somewhere else?

If Collaros is here, Hamilton would be the best bet for Willy. Maybe even BC.

That about says it all, KBF.

Short and to the point.

You've never been so concise.

Same with Drew Willy. Nichols has the injury factor now hanging over him... Like Buck.

Buck is 20 times worse than Nichols.

Nichols has been too injury prone in his short time in the CFL.

That's pretty extreme.

The way Reilly plays he's the next guy on that list. Admire his heart but he plays stupid. Buck was the same way when he came into the CFL. Reckless abandon that left him wrecked.

Got some extra time on your HANDS, KBF?

I seriously hope that 'pulling off a Willy' becomes a commonplace saying in 2014!
