  • Here's hoping the headings for the 2025/2026 NHL season 20 games in read 'What's wrong with the Knights, Panthers, Wild and Maple Leafs?'.

  • It's a ridiculous contract for a guy like Kiprizov, certainly but also the cap is going up and don't forget that what these guys make is a fraction of what the owners make. I'm not as "ATHLETES ARE AL

PoolParty heading to Europe.  Laine not too far behind?  Guys with that kind of talent and no heart are born to play in Europe.  See Petan...Nic.

Some gm in the nhl will always give laine a contract based on just what he did with us as a rookie.

They'll never do it, but I'm all for this.

Then tickets would double in price.

If true, offer off the table and collude with the other 31 teams to not offer him anything.

One can dream. 🙂

If I’m the jets I inquire about him. See what he wants. Maybe he would take less to be on a contender. Minnesota isn’t. We actually are. Cuz in the alternate universe where I played in the NHL for 15 years, I’m not sure if I have 50 million dollars but no cup if I’m happy signing for 15 million per when my dream is to lift the cup. With 50 million in my bank I might consider taking way less to sign with a contender than to make 130 million over 8 but be eliminated in rd 1 every year.

Def kick the can on this cat but whats the contract you would offer him? No way hes getting 16m/yr from me with his injury record. Plus 16 is like MCD money. Im a 100k a point person but willing to go a mil or 2 over.

The $100K per point is a good guideline, but was based on when the cap was flat at $80 million during the COVID years. Extrapolating for the current increase, it works out now to $110,000 per point last year, and $120,000 per point this year. So a 100 point player should clock in at $12 million per year. By 2027-28 and the projected cap increase to $113.5 million per team, it would be just over $140,000 per point, so last year’s $10 million/year player would warrant $14 million/year in the next 3 years.
