For years, players have been too afraid to talk about it. But now, the truth about a broom that almost destroyed curling is finally coming out.

Einar doesn't have a good team right now... It's a rag-tag throw together. Incredible that they made the final. Homan, after years of lost confidence, has her swagger back and is a robot. No beating her.

Einar been better for sure but Val seemed to have the shakes just throwing the rock which is not good for any curler.

Andrew Paterson was comparing it to Hogan coming out with the NWO and I chuckled... Ya she's dead to me as long as she's associated with them.

As for Val, I thought she was their best player last night. Their front end just isn't good enough for this level. They need their regular players back.

Jones just needs to hit a leg drop on Einarson next tournament to make the heel turn complete! Or maybe on Lawes since they played together for so long.

I don't get the format. Six franchises with corresponding mythical curling clubs with no information on where these teams are located. Like, Saskatoon & Winnipeg? Edmonton & Calgary?? Minneapolis & Fargo? New York?? Vegas?? Japan? Norway,?? Zurich, Switzerland?? Are they going to play in tournaments in one place?? Like the XFL & USFL? I just can't see this lasting.

Peterson looked good in the Oly pre trials event and has been solid in Tier 2 events on your. Lots of upside with that team. Einar will be Team Canada at the Scotties because Homan is in Italy and declined the spot, so we'll have at least 2 teams at Scotties and possibly 3 as Einar's former Wild Cars spot is open, which might end up going to Lawes, who might (??) be the next highest ranked team. Looking forward to the Scotties next month... And the Select will be at the start of Feb, as well, so not far off.

I had no idea Duguid had Alzheimer's or Dementia. Some of the comments on social media were just terrible & hurtful. Like one poster on X said that Duguid was last seen sweeping a curling rock on Main Street. Other comments were similar. **** all of them.

My dad had Dementia & spent his last years receiving wonderful care at the Riverview Health Centre. Dementia & Alzheimers are insidious diseases. It took 15 years to kill him. He died one day at a time until (thankfully) April of 2002. Piece by piece. Just terrible.

Sorry to hear that man. My grandpa was the same.

I used to really enjoy The Onion satire site. Until the day they poked fun at alzheimer's - then I was done.

Thank you., He owned an auto body shop on Marion Street for 41 years after the war to 1982 & was a master repairer. It was like he was an artist. He could take a car with twisted metal from a crash & bring it back to life. He was Old School having learned his craft ion the 1930's before the War. He taught his guys how to weld like he was taught with Old School techniques. They would be fascinated with my Dad's welding techniques as they were never taught that. They were all eager to learn. I can remember guys coming up to me when I worked at the shop & saying, "You're Dad is amazing!!" Which made me proud,

Generally, he'd hire young guys out of Red River College for their first job. They'd be a "Go Fer" & learn on small jobs that the more experienced guys didn't have time to do as they were busy with bigger wrecks. They would be apprentices. These kids would gain experience & move on to better paying jobs a year or so later. My father was a wiry guy about 5'9 & 160 lbs. But he was as strong as an Ox from all the physical labour he did for 4 decades in the shop. His hands were calloused like boards. To see him just wither away with Denmentia & not be able to function was very hard.

Duguid is one of my boyhood sports heroes.  Along with his Third, "The Arrow" Rod Hunter. I started curling because of those two. Winning two back to back Briers, Silver Brooms & being the best team on the planet those 2 years in 1970 & 71. The Duguid rink were awesome .I don't think they ever lost a game in both Briers & world championships.

May a pox befall on those that make fun of people who are ill & suffering. They never asked for whatever sicknesses they have.
