Basically what I'm getting at is that the season actually went quite well for most of our players, aside from the major injury to Myers and Little missing a quarter of the season.  Uncommonly well, in fact.  You can't point to many players on this team that under-performed or missed a lot of games.  This season would have been a great time to make a run, but we just didn't have the goaltending, and that's a shame.  Who knows what next year brings?

    Playoffs.

  3. I have gay friends, i work with gay people, They are great... good people. I don't care that they are gay and they are fine with that. They don't need me to care, they need their parents to accept them or friends or whoever else and in most cases, most of the gay people i know, they are accepted and they are loved by their loved ones. I think it's rare to find a gay person in 2015 who is afraid to come out.  I do accept them, They are friends, they are co-workers, I accept them for who they are. I don't care what they do in their bedrooms, I don't really want to know either, that's fair isn't it?

I get that maybe some gay people, perhaps more so in sports and those who are in the spotlight could come out and be role models and say listen, I'm here, i'm *****, get used to it or whatever... That's fine. It's all good.

I just think that it's none of my business so why would i actually care. If someone is gay, great, if it makes them happy, that's wonderful. Do i think they all need to come out and say HELLO my name is bill and I'm gay.. Nope. They don't but if they want too, that's fine too.

Perhaps in sports and hollywood, things are a bit more difficult, who knows, All i know tho is there was a gay football player, michael sam, you know that none of us would have heard of him if he wasn't gay? He got drafted because he was gay, he got a chance in the CFL cuz he was gay... did he deserve that chance? Some will say he really didn't cuz he's not a good football player. My issue is gay people who use being gay as an excuse for failing, Michael Sam pretty much used it as an excuse, I have no time for those people, but  thankfull they are few and far between. Most gay people i know, all of them are good people, great people. I don't hate them, i just don't really care that they are gay.

It's exactly about "role models": for young people struggling with revealing their sexuality. It provides the example that look, a successful gay athlete/actor/etc, "maybe that could be me. You just don't get it at all.

  4. you think me and goalie are hating and causing this fear? thats straight donkey ****.  where did we say it was wrong to be gay or anything like that, I fully accept and can appreciate a persons decision to be gay, I dont however feel its needed to make spectacle out of it. If anything I would think that gives it the impression it is still such a widely blatant issue that it needs poster celebs to enforce that its ok. this aint 1955, its 2015 and its been a pretty widely socially accepted thing for sometime. Maybe I dont see the hate as clearly as you do, but where do you live where racism and gay bashing is so over the top? i must live a sheltered life with my gay and multi-cultural friends

I don't even know where to start given the level of ignorance demonstrated by that line. UP is right, you should just STFU.

How can you not watch the games when they're on? The offseason drags on and on and on any Bomber game is worth watching.

You know what drives me up the F'n wall is when people say "I shut the game off, I couldn't watch anymore"  How pathetic a fan to not even watch the game. I never miss a second of a Rider game no matter what the score is, period.. no exceptions. If I can't be home or something important has me away, I tape it and watch every second as soon as I can.

Oh look, it's SuperFan. I've been a fan for over 30 yrs, sometimes you have to look away from a trainwreck. You know what drives me up the F'n wall? People who think "their" level of being a fan is better than anyone elses. GFY.

  6. Any player that doesn't want to be here, it's not unique to Winnipeg. Every team has players that didn't want to be there for whatever reason. Kunitz put Toronto on his no trade list. It's not a negative on winnipeg.

As all the talk that the jets "lost" Frolik. We didn't lose him. He's a free agent.

Petan will be a better Frolik than Frolik.

  7.

You think Burmi will be the 13th?

Maurice will play Lipon in front of Burmi????? not a chance.

    What happens with Peluso?

    Harrison, Postma, Pardy?????????

What does Burmi bring? He is not a scorer and not a great passer. He is strong on his skates but is not overly physical just like Goalie stated he is an East to West player.JC is a fireplug agitator type player.Petan has great vision and skills.Based on the preseason I don't see how you justify starting Burmi ahead of these guys. But it will probably come down to who they could lose if waived.Burmi better get his ass in gear when the bullets fly though cause Maurice won't put up with his crap.

Burmi played the last 2 yrs in the KHL, as a defensive forward. That's the side of his game Mo likes. I bet he'll be fine in that role.

  8.

Did you watch any games? Petan is a wizard on the ICE, he was probably one of our best players... that Penticton tournament, it's a good idea but.. in reality, it means absolutely nothing in the big picture. It's basically just to get the rust off, It really means nothing.

Petan was one of the Jets best players in the pre-season, he's gonna probably start with Ladd and Little on the top line, that's where he's played the last couple games and has not looked out of place at all.

Calling it a tournament is also somewhat of a joke as their is no winner of the tournament, there is no trophy given out... Penticton is a good concept but.. it truly means nothing at all.

Basically, like i said, it's to get the rust off and for some of them to get ready for the main camp... don't get hurt is the main thing, the rest is just irrelevant really.

I watched Petan at the World Juniors (where he did well), in the playoffs against Kelowna (where he was the best player on the ice by far), and in Penticton (where he dogged it big time).  I agree he's good with the puck, but how's his defence?  I also think he's a bit small for the NHL (yeah I've heard of Johnny Hockey and Tyler Johnson).  I honestly thought he'd need a year in the AHL to adjust to the bigs.  But that being said, if he's ready to make the jump, and can contribute, then great.  The Jets need more skill.  They'll need size too to compete in their division, and with Burmi, Perrault and Petan, they are a lot smaller.

They're replacing Stemp and Tlutsy. Not much dif in size, but a lot in skill. (Copp/Petan)

Interesting.  We would be getting better.  I'd prefer he'd get an agent who isn't an assclown, but the assclown got the results he wanted, so Simmons is going to be happy.

He won't get starts but he will get snaps.  This likely takes Littlejohn off the 46 to make room.

I haven't seen enough of Simmons to know if he's an awesome fit for what Ritchie Hall is running here, but great players will find ways to make plays.

And to the notion in another thread that the Bombers aren't trying to win this year, I don't know what that poster is inhaling.  Walters continues to aggressively go after the players he wants.

Kudos to his agent for being  savvy enough to use social media to get his client what he wants. You'll no doubt be seeing more of these types of tactics in the future.

Glad Simmons is in our line-up for sure.

How're you going to like it when it's one of our players? Kudos??

That's irrelevant. It's going to happen regardless. Agents will all eventually see that social media can be another tool, in the tool-box of negotiation. And yeah kudos, because the guy did his job and represented his client to the best of his abilities, and got him what he wanted. Which was out of Calgary and on to a team where he would play.  Football is a business, and self-interest works the same way it does in any other business.

BC sucks! BC Sucks! BC Sucks!

Case in point, I pull into the Mr. Mike's in Chilliwack at 5:30 pm yesterday (7:30 pm Winnipeg time) to watch a bit of the game on the way home to Kelowna from Vancouver, and they have the stinking Blue Jay game on in the lounge.  So then I say "can you change it to the Lion's game please?" and the staff all look at me stunned, in that they not only don't know there is a game on, but have no clue who the Lions are.  Finally, they changed over a few TV's to TSN, (after I had to explain that I wanted the "CFL football" option that was coming up on the guide), to the complaints of some old fogies who were watching the Jays, to which I told them to stick it, as they still had plenty of TV's to watch their precious Jays.  Anyway, BC sucks.  That's my point.

Click the ling for a laugh! :-)

  12. I think Wayne is the greatest of all time. I think Mario is the most talented of all time. Imagine Mario not being struck down by cancer and back injuries. He would have beat Wayne's records for goals and points.

No he wouldn't. Even had he remained healthy.

    Gretzky:

Most Professional Goals in a Career (1,072)

Most Assists in a Career (1,963)

His career assists top every-ones career point records.

These will stand probably forever. And talking about ANYONE being able to surpass them is pretty much a moot point.

Here’s a stat to put Wayne’s 163 assists — which came in the 1985-86 season — into perspective: the player who finished that year second in points, the Penguins’ Mario Lemieux, recorded 141 points.

  13.

Honestly can't envision any scenario where the Bombers lose tonight. It is going to be a blowout. Can't wait to kick back with a tall cool Budweiser and watch the Lions get thumped.

Blowout?? for who??? Here is a scenario where in the Bombers lose tonight - The Lions show up! Sorry dude but across the board - offense and defense, special teams etc. Lions are better! I would be happy just to see the Bombers keep it close.

How'd that work out for you?

what's Edmonton's weakness on their defence?

    Not sure there is one.

    Nick Moore

LMAO - nice answer. But sorry boys - Edm's strength is their Defence, and they have no weakness. They have ferocious pass rushers, outstanding LB's (led by McCoil and Sherrit) and a very solid secondary. I guess if there is one weakness it's Muamba at Safety.

But, last year - Drew Willy was absolutely terrible here and thankfully got hurt on a safety sack (just for the rest of that game) or it would have been really ugly. Last year the Esks outscored the bombers 67 to 12. That's pathetic.

Are the bombers better this year? Yes

Are the Esks better? Don't know - luckily for us the Esks have Nichols as a starter - but our defense can make Nichols look like Warren Moon easy (they usually do make 2nd and 3rd string QB's in Edmonton look like all stars - especially games in Commonwealth).

I'll be at the game, will most likely leave early in the fourth quarter when the score is 45 to 3 to Edmonton - and I'll get more Kal Tire $100 coupons - so there's always that. Bombers always play like **** here and I see no hope for a pattern change.

BTW - headline in the Journal today - "Bombers have been Eskimos' Pinata" - how apt.

You need to stop smoking that stuff.
