People still don't get that O'Shea doesn't talk about this stuff in the media? You think he really doesn't know where mistakes were made? Is that more believable than he's just refusing to tell the media anything? Come on now, it's been his MO all season long.

Yup, O'Shea is right.  He's got a game to prepare for right now and the media should be smart enough to realize that.  You don't quit preparing for games till the season is over and Mike O'Shea is focused in on it.

Besides, he just got done saying the team needs to get better, he doesn't need to go give a big old breakdown at every position trying to triangulate what should be done just yet.  Finish the season first, then address areas.  Plus it's stupid to say he or Walters are not gonna make any moves at all to address areas.  They will, but you worry about those situations in the office, not at the Press Conference.

I'm sure that he has NEVER thought about what is happening with his team & the reason for the 8 game skid??? Really, cmon? If he can't handle the  heat from a few local reporters then maybe he's not ready to be a HC even after a season already. This isn't Denver, New England or Green Bay. I bet Rex Ryan would love the media here. It would be like a weekend retreat for the guy. Why can't MOS acknowledge that yes, there are problems that need addressing & everything will be under review including his performance after tomorrow. Then next question as we are preparing for a game Saturday. These CFL head coaches with the big egos & impatience never last. Seen em all come & go in 50 seasons watching the Bombers & other teams. They always get fired eventually.

Funny, I thought that's exactly what he said.

  2. Here is what is was like growing up in Canada in the 1960's. If you were from Western Canada you cheered for the Leafs. They were Western Canada's team no ifs, ands or buts. If you were in Quebec or parts of the Maritimes you cheered for the Habs. When the Leafs won the Stanley Cup last in 1967 it was like we all won the thing from Manitoba to the West Coast. I remember those days really well. Saturday night was a big night like it still is now with Ward Cornell hosting HNIC & Bill Hewitt's son doing play by play. There were no regional games. Everybody west of Toronto saw the Leafs on CBC. Everybody east saw Montreal. And when they met on national television, man oh man, it was a big deal. Just like the SC Final in 1967... Canada's 100th birthday. It was a huge deal.

Yeah nothing brought family and friends together like HNIC. Feels different today... I don't remember anyone calling him Bill  lol

No opinion can be smart, dumb, correct or incorrect it's a personal belief something someone feels.

no this is 100% false. Some opinions can be dumb and incorrect and some smart and correct. "I like chocolate more than vanilla" is a subjective opinion that depends on the person expressing said opinion, "In my opinion Drew Willy can't read a defense" is a dumb and incorrect opinion.

All  "opinions" are subjective, regardless of their correctness. You seem to take it upon yourself frequently to be the arbiter of others opinions. I don't think that's helpful, and points I think to what the OP was saying in the first place.

That's because I am the arbiter.

I bet I've been a fan of this team for longer than you've been alive.  Your judgment of others "level" of  fan support  means absolutely  nothing to anyone, except you. Don't you think it would be more productive to try to not antagonize people all the time?

I am tired of hearing that we have players with "great potential" and a "core to build around".

We are a very mediocre football club at best and "them" is just the facts.

"Rebuilding" is just another term for a clueless management team that does not know how to recruit or hire.

For 25 years I have waited and watched and hoped. I am just tired of it.

Any temptation to buy season tickets next year have gone out the window. I am a single-game buyer until we finish in first place. Results are all that matter to me.

Make all the off season moves you want, if it is just a marketing ploy I am not interested.

I feel like I have been had, like at a travelling circus, but one that doesn't go anywhere.

In the stock market, you do not jump on the bandwagon until a trend is firmly in place. I don't see no trend.

    Bah, humbug!

It's OK, not all fans are created equal, some people just aren't as much of a fan as others and can only support a winner. No shame in being less of a fan than the rest of us.

Why are you judging him less of a fan for expecting more?

"No shame in being less of a fan than the rest of us. "

Then why are you implying there is, by mentioning shame in the first place?

  6. Those sacks are the fault of both Drew Willy and Marcel Bellefeuille, each taking 50/50 responsibility for them.  Part of that is on Willy because he had plenty of time to find checkdown options on plays where his WRs were downfield and he got too greedy trying to look for big plays.  There's no way though that he couldn't have not had other options where some 3rd or 4th reads were not open.  The other is Bellefeuille's fault because not sticking with Cotton who was running right through that BC defense that 1st half was a dumb idea.  When your running game is tearing it up, you stick with it until the opposition shows they can stop it, they did not in this game.  No reason to go away from it whatsoever.  Normally I'd be on the O-line for costing us games and giving up plays, but this one is on Willy and Bellefeuille for not sticking with what was working.

What level of ******* do you have to be, to complain about a cancer fundraiser??

Well I dunno which specific charity the CFL is associated with but one of those breast cancer foundations is actually worse than cancer. Something stupid like only 10% of their funds raised go to fighting cancer, the rest goes into the hands of the people running the charity. That's a real bullshit way to run a charitable organization.

Its not that simple. How do you know McDavid and Eichel are comparable to Crosby/Tavares? They are certainly hyped as much, but I'll wait to see them in the NHL to make that judgment. Right now, I would say neither one will ever be as good as Crosby or Tavares. Besides, there is no guarantee we would even get them. The lottery has been adjusted, and even with your trades I don't see us being worse than Buffalo or Edmonton. Could end up with the third or fourth pick. Not quite the same impact.

As far as Ehlers, Petan and Morrissey.... I hope they are ready to contribute next year but I wouldn't count on it. IMO Morrissey and Petan both looked at least 2 years away, and I'm not sure either will ever be the stars we are hoping they turn into. We'll see about Ehlers, he might be ready next season depending on how much he grows this year.... He is certainly our best prospect.

What are you basing all your negativity on? Top scouts and analysts are consistently rating McDavid and Eichel as generational players. Their play and records would seem to warrant their rankings .As for our prospects, they will get here and have a substantial impact when they do. Their records and play in junior would seem to support that assumption. It seems that the Bombers mediocrity has crept into your opinion of the Jets future.

No negativity here. I'm not the one suggesting we tank for McDavid. Sorry if I don't think he will be as good as Crosby or Tavares. Not many players are.

Nor am I, but dismissing their talent out of hand seems somewhat presumptuous to me. And your post IS full of negativity. re-read it.

  10. I wouldn't count on Lowry generating much offence. Keep in mind he only had 33 points in St. John's last season, and didn't really produce much here during the pre-season. I think he's a good player and I like what he has shown so far but I just hope people's expectations for him aren't too high.

Agreed. But I don't think they expect offense from him, just to be a solid 2-way player. And he'll be that.

  11. The only real complaint I have with O'Shea is that he won't make line up changes when guys aren't obviously playing poorly. That's cool and all that you don't want to bench guys, but part of really getting the most out of a group is knowing how to put your best players on the field. Sears really is the example here. He sat on the IR for an inexcusable length of time while healthy. When healthy he is one of the top players on the team and you make room on your roster for players like that. Little more proactive roster management from him and no complaints about his coaching.

    Results speak volumes. IMWT.

    How was that PI?

    smh

That was iffy for sure, looked pretty good to me, but who knows. Pretty sure when they say "not enough evidence to over turn the call on the field" it pretty much means we arent willing to admit we screwed up.

14-7. Lawrence with the TD. looked like he stepped out of bounds.

LMAO! Entire story of officiating in the CFL!!!

If we're thinking pie in the sky then the Bombers need to get Owens and Elemimian and Cornish. Just make it happen Walters.

So if he hits FA lets not try at all? Typical fail attitude. Apparently you're not alone.

Pie-in the-sky is thinking this team gets better if we stay with the personnel we have.

Pretty sure if he hits free agency, we will try and try hard. I just think most people here are under the impression that guys like that won't make it to free agency because they are too important to their teams, Might they? sure and if they do, i'm pretty sure all of us on here would say Go after them all but i think the reality is that guys like that rarely to never make it to free agency. Don't think anybody is saying don't try, just think most are saying, we won't have the ability to try cuz those guys will  be signed well before free agency hits.

I understand what you're saying, but Lawless did preface his opinion with "Which brings us to Walters and potential free agent and current Riders non-import tackle Heenan." I don't have an argument with you, I'm just not a fan of the "**** it, no chance" attitude in sports or life. The Labbate fiasco demonstrates there's always a chance...

  14. Time for a little positivity in this forum..even if it relates to a someone who played for this team 20 years ago.

Greg Battle is the Free Press pick as the best all-time linebacker in Bombers history.

    Next up, the kickers.

Kennerd, Cameron? Westwood should be flattered if he makes the list...
