  1. Yeah, after reading the story, since the kid didn't have a record and since he probably didn't anticipate the type of fire it would become, no jail time. Don't forget though, even though he was a 'youth', he has a record. He does something like this again, he will do the time. I have a feeling about this one though, I think , in this case, the right decision was made and he'll turn out to be contributing citizen to society.
  2. You guys are forgetting Daryl Rodgers too
  3. Well, on Browning, I wonder what he did? He did something as I can't see Danny Mac (given how everyone here says he is so 'good' at his job) recommending a bum who can't throw the ball. So, I hope he was in to drugs or had some other kind of criminal record linked to him somehow and the bombers found out about it and just cut ties with him right away or had an undisclosed injury that was serious enough that the bombers did not think it would be worthwhile having this guy around.. Why do I hope this? Cause the alternative is the guy is piss poor passer which means Danny Mac is no better at evaluating QB than anyone else in this organisation has been since, well whoever it was that recruited Danny Mac, the last 'recruited by Wpg' QB to make any noise in the CFL.
  4. Well, good poll. I think if both teams are healthy and stay healthy throughout the year it's Ottawa by a game. However, that's impossible (to stay healthy) and Ottawa has no depth. Still, I took Ottawa but to be honest I'd like a third option in the poll - same amount of wins. As I think both teams can win 6 games this year.
  5. Burke probably has a good sense of what Marcel Bellefeuille is going to try to do. You sure about that? He doesn't understand the offense remember?
  6. Ok you date him then! The rest of us...well not so much...what is Burke really saying? that unless he has a strong team with strong players and a very good quarterback...he is doomed to fail...I guess that is being honest in a way...he is admitting he is a terrible coach! What a joke! No thats not what he said. Its one thing to rip on a guy for what he says but you have to make it sound even worse to make your point? I believe he said one thing he learned was you need talent to compete. News flash, thats true. Here's the thing Unknown Poster, Burke has no leadership qualities about him, none. If you think he does, give me some examples. I can give you a thousand examples of why he doesn't, I doubt you can give me one example of a leadership quality about him. As the head coach, it's HIS FREAKING SHOW. Don't you understand that at all? Have you not comprehended what a head coach does? He makes the 'final decisions', he 'sets the tone' for the players. Tell, what tone did he set? Please. I'd really like to hear your answer here. Think about it first, and be honest. And lets think back to the Goltz fiasco, when he announced him as the starter for the rest of the year, then 10 days later said he wasn't and said it was the "offense's decision". Does that sound like a leader to you? Does that sound like someone who is taking charge. Tim Burke is a damn good DC, no argument there. He can sit back, work on defensive schemes, and then call defenses for various situations. But he can't make decisions outside of that, and he proved it time and time again. As a head coach he was in way over his head. The teams record has nothing to do with it. The 'talent' has nothing to do with it. The issue was the overall attitude of the team, which takes on the personality of the Head Coach. Tell me, how many games last year did the bombers 'compete' in? I'll tell you if don't know - ONE - the banjo bowl. The other two wins they got was a result of Montreal playing worse than us, not because we played 'better' because we played bad in those games too. I can't understand how you can defend him. Now, if Burke had said, in that interview, that he was in over his head, and didn't have the personal experience to run a team in that situation, and that ultimately what happens on the field rests with him, then I'd have gained some respect back. But I lost all my respect for him last year given how he never took responsibility for anything. So this article doesn't change how I feel.
  7. No offense meant here, but I strongly disagree here. Mack had all off season, after given a mandate by Butchko, to get a Qb, and what did he do? Who did he get? No, Mack was not going to get a better head coach because he was a lazy sack of **** and always took the easy way out.
  8. very astute observation. I never thought of that until now. Great point - he would have made a great HC I think
  9. Yes he does, him an Hervey seem to be on a crash course to oblivion themselves. But I still want to see how he handles everything. Will he blame other people? Hell, he might blame Burke lol.
  10. Thanks for posting this. This is great. Can you imagine this clown (and I know clowns) on his next HC job interview? You know, I'm really anxious to see what Chris Jones does here. He too is a former DC as everyone knows. I wonder how he'll handle adversity when it happens. Mr. Burke, you just realized you put the final nail in your coffin. You'd be he last guy I'd hire - zero accountability
  11. Bad boy Taj Smith should have been on the list instead of Durant. With Dressler and Sheets gone its up to him to be their "guy" now. Well I'll bet he's on the 'police watch list'
  12. There's no one behind BLM if Tate is dealt away so he'd not going anywhere unless it's a qb swap with the Stamps. Like I said not tomorrow. But tell me ISO, you're BLM, I'm Tate, it's contract time. You gonna play for backup money? I sure as hell ain't - I'm a #1 QB and I want to be paid like one. That's what I'm telling my agent. I bet you you're saying the same thing yours. Do you honestly think Calgary can support two starting QB wages? I sure don't. To me, this isn't even an opinion, it's a fact. One of them will be gone, and they'll just bring in another guy to be the backup. They don't need to 'now' as the contracts are 'set' but neither one has a lifetime contract for backup money that I"m aware of. And I still say BLM is the man the Stamps want/see as their #1 so there is no room for Tate. This starting assignment is step one. If they can keep Tate healthy and Montreal struggles, you can almost book a trade for something Calgary needs to get them over the top, and a backup QB coming back would most likely be part of it (Marsh would be my bet) but not 'the' guy, most likely a player (starter) Calgary needs at the time will also be part of it.
  13. Well, I for one strongly believe one of those two will be on a different team soon, Mtrl or Ottawa but most likely Montreal. By soon I mean two years (max) not tomorrow. I think BLM gets the start as that is who the Stamps see as their 'future' QB and they want to see now. If he falters they still have a healthy (?) Tate to put in but IMO Tate will be the odd man out. He could be in Montreal sooner than later given the state of the QB situation in Montreal
  14. But if they sign him you'll be okay with it. Enthusiastic even. Cute attempt to paint me with that fanboy brush but I've disliked rotten romby since his attitude Issues with Kelly (and by proxy the team and the other players n coaches) he was solid when he started here.. It's been down hill since he was here.. He's older, slower and less capable then when he was here and frankly, I always thought of him as a better brazzell.. So no.. No I won't be happy if he's the best we can do. I will not change my tune if he becomes a bomber.. For the millionth time, my opinions don't change on a player once they become a bomber.. If Im not a fan before, I'm not a fan after.. IE Kuale.. Always considered him a dirty player and slow for MLB.. I'm not a fan that he's our MLB.. at all.. I hear ya there SPuDs, was very underwhelmed with his signing but who else is there? I'm hoping he's keeping Henoc's place warm and when the Colts cut him in August and no one else is interested (hey, just my hope here) that he comes back to the bombers and makes his debut Labour Day or Banjo Bowl - it will be very easy to say to Kuale - "Hey, phone call, its Max Hall, he's looking for a roommate - interested?"
  15. Well, nothing wrong with bringing in experienced receivers. Who knows, he may have a few good games left. If an import goes down for a few games I'd rather have an experienced guy come in than a rookie.
  16. Love to confirm but what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas... Thanks for that....... you trying to rip my stitches lol
  17. Don't think that will happen, tone is set. Mike O'Shea expects to make the playoffs and compete for the Grey Cup. Tim 'dear in the headlights' Burke, well, I would dare to say #1 in all time loser coaches for us, even ahead of Kelly and Reinbold, as at least those two took charge. Burke didn't take charge and set us up for failure. I think O'Shea, by years end, will be a front runner for coach of the year. I would tend to agree that Burke was the worst head coach I have ever seen this team employ. Now obviously there's a lot of years I wasn't around to see, but we've had some bad ones in the last 30 years and Burke was as bad or worse than all of them. Never have I seen a team fold at the first sign of adversity like last years team did and that all comes back on the guy who is supposed to lead this team.Actually, it comes back to the smarts of the man who thought Burke was the answer to replace LaPolice. And that includes some of those here who thought the same. Ouch.you really want to start this argument for no reason? First time on this forum, is it? LMAO - that's usually me. I forgot about Darryl Rodgers though, he was pretty bad too. Yeah, a lot of bad coaches, but some good ones, Mike Riley, my all time fav, Cal Murphy, even Ray Jauch for a couple of years did ok, and I even remember Bud Riley. Though Burke is still the worst for the reason many here have pointed out time and again, his failure to make any adjustments at halftime. I think that's why the team wilted so bad. I mean, they knew there was no other strategy to employ. So if their gameplan wasn't working then that was it. I do like Burke as a Coordinator, and he'll do a fine job in Toronto. Does anyone know if we're still paying him? If so, at worst I hope that his salary with Toronto counts - i.e. he was making 100 grand for us, Toronto is paying him 65 grand as a coordinator so we only need to pay him 35 grand.
  19. Who told you that? Ford is going to play. I got Grisby in the pool Mike, this is very very important. I need to know if I got to switch to Toronto's RB - might do that anyway.
  20. That's how it always goes though. Now we know why Bryant was cut loose don't we?
  21. Well, here's what I think. You're out all day, running around, doing whatever. You get home, and you got some cramping. So, you go to the bathroom. How would you like it if you had an audience in there watching you and asking you questions? I, personally, never liked the 'locker room' thing. I think it's an invasion of privacy. Football players are human beings, just like us, and as such they deserve to have some place of 'sanctuary', whether it's to blow off steam, settle a disagreement with another player, or just sit quietly and comtemplate without having someone in your face. That's why they invented and they have 'media' rooms. That's why, at home, we have 'great rooms, Kitchens, etc. I wish all sports teams would take this stand. Only time I want to see inside the 'room' is when you're with them celebrating a 'championship'. Otherwise, wait in the 'media' room. I would like a 'time limit' though. In other words - 30 minutes after a game there must be someone in the media room to address the media. Coach for sure, and a list of players, provided by the 'media', whom they'd like to speak with (so the coaches can't censor the message). That, I believe, would be 'fair' to all involved. The media still gets their quotes, and the players get their 'sanctuary'. A win/win
  22. Oh that Marcel DJD, what all good GM's should aspire to be. Just saw this - obviously Palardy is no good (he was terrible against Montreal one punt was so bad even LaPo made a comment on it) and Maher did not look good at all either. My guess is (yeah yeah Captain Obvious I know lol) they got their eye on a recent cut to bring in. Good thing bombers didn't listen to me when I said they should keep Maher lol
  23. Well this will be a very interesting year. Bombers and Edmonton will be the only teams that will be 'better', everyone else will be 'weaker'. Why? Because of Ottawa of course, the new team took all the 'best' players after protection and guess what - they weren't in Edmonton or Wpg lol. So...... I break it down to '3' teams, easier for me that way. And since there are '9' teams now, it makes it easy. Here's what I think Top 3 teams: These will be the 'creme de la creme' though as I said they are all 'weaker' than last year thanks to Ottawa so they will slump some as the season goes through, but to me the three teams to lead the way are (in alphabetical order): B.C. Calgary Toronto *team most likely to fall out of top 3 - B.C. These next three will also be in the playoffs, but if the dice rolls go there way any one of them could sneak into the #3 spot or they could just as easily drop to the 7-9 spot and out of the playoffs. These teams I predict will all have up and downs this year, and some points will look like a terrible team not capable of winning another game then in typical CFL fashion roll off a 3 or 4 game win streak, again in alphabetical order: Edmonton Hamilton Sasktachewan * team most likely to jump to top 3 - Saskatchewan - team most likely to fall out of top 6 - Edmonton And the bottom three - here I feel again, given the roll of the dice, could easily surpass Edmonton for #6, esp the eastern ones here as all they need to do is tie them. But lets face it, one has no QB, one is brand new to the league, and one is recovering from a total mess from last season, Of the three I think Montreal has the best chance if they can land a QB as to me they have the best receivers in the league from what I can tell, but if they don't get a QB to get them the ball they're in for a long long season. Again, alphabetically: Montreal Ottawa Winnipeg *Team most likely to jump to top 6 - Montreal IF they get a QB Records - who knows. I think this season will be wildly unpredictable - but that's how I like to break it down.
  24. Montreal or Ottawa should try to swing a trade for him. Ottawa is OK with Burris and Demarco, but Montreal .... yeeesh they look really really weak there. That's what can happen when you have a stud who is not only one of the greatest of all time, but stayed relatively healthy, you get complacent and don't develop. Now look at the mess they are in.
  25. Just saying here but.. 98 percent of this board called halls release. You are gloating for no reason. We all saw it coming. Do you really think a non mobile joey elliot and alex brink would have fared any differently last season? Last season was more about the coaches and the ridiculous schemes they tried to run instead of about how bad the players were. I'm not sure peyton manning would have done much here last year or russel wilson for that matter but because wilson can scramble and run, he might have looked ok but not much more than ok. No - but you got my point. Mack was given a mandate to find a #1 QB for last year. What he did was cut the two guys with the most experience (as in Buck always being hurt so he doesn't count) and brought in two guys to replace them that I say to this day would not have beaten them out in a fair competition training camp. One guy, Chase Clement, wasn't even playing pro ball anymore, had been a 'beer league' qb. I probably could have given him competition. That's my point. If Mack had brought in two guys like Willy/Reilly, then I get it. He didn't. As for the Hall comment - that was directed at ISO because he was, for some reason, singling me out of the 98% of the people on this board as the only guy who 'hated' (his word not mine I don't 'hate' anyone that's a strong, ugly word) Hall and wanted him gone. I wanted Hall gone cause he was never good enough. It was easy to pick too from what Marve did to get here, and the fact McManus personally vouched for Brohm, I knew he wasn't going anywhere. Only question for me was would Marve start the year on the PR but as mentioned, when Browning was signed, it was obvious Hall was gone.
